The EU has shown that it is a blatantly Corrupt organization. The "Surprise" shown by MEP's is farcical .. the UK knew about this year ago, and that's why they exited from the EU as it stands now.... perhaps the EU needs to wake up and realize this ?

“Elements of the IRA risk unleveling the playing field and discriminating against European companies,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote to the EU leaders on the eve of their year-end summit.

If only von der Leyen could be less narcissistic and admit to her own blunders she would see that the IRA is an investment in infrastructures for a new green economy, and it discriminates against USA's own ICE automakers as well. That's the point, to point the economy towards a renewable future.

So instead of following the lead USA, she's compounding her previous blunders (EU emission laws that only ever created an industry full of CHEATS), by doing the dirty work of Germany's old money families, desperately holding to their ICE era industries.

Globalisation has finished, blocks like the EU will only result in weakened national competitiveness. The sooner it's disbanded the better. BTW, the myth that was the basis for the existence of the EU, ie to prevent wars has now truly turned out to be nothing but a myth, but von der Leyen just refuses to believe it, even as she's using war on EU soil as leverage.

The best EU can do for the future is cute ties with US...

Toxic inconvenient relationship..

The EU bought their own hell with Putin,if they cannot compete with the 100 of billion of one dollars products from China they are doomed,we pay for their security,we give grants to Ukraine, while they give loans

Even Europe thinks the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act is nonsense.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Biden acknowledged “glitches” in the legislation and said earlier this month alongside French President Emmanuel Macron that “there’s tweaks we can make” to satisfy allies.

this will surely be “walked back” too.

But a Democratic lawmaker who was a key architect of the measure said he had no intention of reopening it.

yep, there it is. The walk back.

The Biden regime, with its proxy war against Russia has destroyed Europe. Surprisingly, the European leaders went along with it...

Republicans will not change one thing, out of spite, the EU bought their own room with Putin, Republicans did not even support one provision, but will tell their voters, the gravy train is coming their way

EU to US - We already have war, don't give us trade war:

Understandably, the 'Trans-Atlantic partners have long prided themselves on free trade unfettered by excessive subsidies & protectionism'.

Now what. Has Ukraine war started to drag them down economically?

A money conflict?

Even Europe thinks the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act is nonsense.

Agree that the name is inaccurate, for now....but in time it would be deflationary, because no carbon tax would be added to cost.

IMHO, this is one initiative born out of the Biden administration that makes sense, on so many levels.

No carbon tax.

No troops protecting fossil sea lanes. No war.

Decouple from China supply chain, because local energy is cheaper than remote energy, transport costs etc.

Complementary with deglobalisation.

...and help the planet heal.

If the EU is a true ally, it would adopt the same policy, not doing so will only help China and Russia (as we can see from the war).

The GOP should cut its ties with fossil, fracking has done its job, USA no longer have to venture into the middle east grovelling to authoritarian states, this alone should be enough.

A money conflict?

YES, a ninary one too. OLD vs NEW money.

The new money says renewables vs the old money's carbon tax everyone and on polluting. Binary.

EU to U.S.: We already have war, don't give us trade war, too

Well, good luck with that. If the US destruction of the NordStream2 pipeline was not an act of war against the EU countries, then what was it?

Well, good luck with that. If the US destruction of the NordStream2 pipeline was not an act of war against the EU countries, then what was it?

Well it's a good thing that the US only committed an act of war in the fever-dream minds of cultists. The Russians did that and everyone not on medication (or needing to be prescribed medication) can see that.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Yet another thing that just.....totally disappeared.

the investigation into who attacked the Nordstream pipeline.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

https://www.cato.org/commentary/who-attacked-nord-stream-2

"Maybe it was Russia, though that doesn’t make much sense. There are better candidates."

yep.

Moreover, the US and some European governments—most obviously Ukraine and its strongest supporters, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Baltics—are the chief beneficiaries of a damaged pipeline.

Well look at that.

As noted above, anyone not in need of meds or in Putie's pocket can see that Nordstream was a Russian op. They wanted to send a message. They sent it. It was recieived. It lacked the impact that mini-me was hoping for.

The idea that the US would commit an act of war against a NATO allie is so farsical as to cause one to question the cognition (and mental stability) of someone foolish enough to postulate it.

“ Cato is number 27 in the "Top Think Tanks Worldwide" and number 13 in the "Top Think Tanks in the United States"

and then there is a random insistent poster with an opinion.

hmmm who to believe?

Your fluctuating belief in polls and websites for the ‘truth’ is bemusing to watch.

Here’s a poll that’s been consistent for many many years; who gets downvoted and who doesn’t. It’s as scientific as anything you’ve got.

Yeah yeah, JT is a liberal think-tank blah blah blah.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

So I see evidence from world recognized thinktanks that it wasn’t Russia.

I also see opinions from random posters that it was.

I can see why you can only offer downvotes on a website as proof you are right.

Really inconvenient when just trying to discredit me personally means nothing, huh?

im just the messenger in this case.

No, that’s incorrect.

You are ‘a random insistent poster with an opinion’.

It’s just a consistently unpopular opinion.

hmmm who to believe?

Maybe not the trolls at Cato which is as much of a "think tank" as Trump is a stable genius.

As I previously stated, believing that the United States would commit an act of war against a NATO allie (in the middle of a cold war era confrontation with the Russians no less) really should cause a rational person to questions the congnitive ability and sanity of the moron postulating such an insanely stupid idea.

Hmmmm. Whom (not "who") to believe indeed.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

And darn, it’s not a “poll” but a report from an institute of higher learning. Wow look at that, a .edu domain even.

https://repository.upenn.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1019&context=think_tanks

down vote that.

Latest gallop poll says only 1% of Americans care about Ukraine but 56% of European don’t back Ukraine.

Europe is waking up to US gas costing four times as much, freezing winter, restarting coal, firewood for heating, record inflation and their high grade weapons flowing outside Ukraine.
