The EU has shown that it is a blatantly Corrupt organization. The "Surprise" shown by MEP's is farcical .. the UK knew about this year ago, and that's why they exited from the EU as it stands now.... perhaps the EU needs to wake up and realize this ?

If only von der Leyen could be less narcissistic and admit to her own blunders she would see that the IRA is an investment in infrastructures for a new green economy, and it discriminates against USA's own ICE automakers as well. That's the point, to point the economy towards a renewable future.

So instead of following the lead USA, she's compounding her previous blunders (EU emission laws that only ever created an industry full of CHEATS), by doing the dirty work of Germany's old money families, desperately holding to their ICE era industries.

Globalisation has finished, blocks like the EU will only result in weakened national competitiveness. The sooner it's disbanded the better. BTW, the myth that was the basis for the existence of the EU, ie to prevent wars has now truly turned out to be nothing but a myth, but von der Leyen just refuses to believe it, even as she's using war on EU soil as leverage.

The best EU can do for the future is cute ties with US...

Agree that the name is inaccurate, for now....but in time it would be deflationary, because no carbon tax would be added to cost.

IMHO, this is one initiative born out of the Biden administration that makes sense, on so many levels.

No troops protecting fossil sea lanes. No war.

Decouple from China supply chain, because local energy is cheaper than remote energy, transport costs etc.

Complementary with deglobalisation.

If the EU is a true ally, it would adopt the same policy, not doing so will only help China and Russia (as we can see from the war).
