They just caught the bloke who did it.

"However, it's important to remember that overwhelmingly Australians are engaging in this debate respectfully and harmoniously," he said

Really?

Big fan of Tony Abbott. Stand-up guy. I hope the idiot that assaulted him gets jail time.

Tony Abbott; deeply unpleasant individual - not surprised this happened to him but don't condone the violence, either.

Marriage equality will be passed. If you don't like it; you don't have to marry Bruce. Or Shelia.

And this is He who threatened to " shirt-front" Putin?

Surprised it wasn't a member of his own party given his recent behaviour.

Nobody should be headbutting anyone, no matter how emotive debate gets.

The most of pro-Same-Sex activists are violent and they are really aggressors. The peoples who want to vote "No" are keeping quiet themselves because of afraid of destroying their image and business reputation by pro-Same-Sex activists. It is happening and it can happen anywhere in Australia. They should campaign for "Yes" vote for civilized manner and they should not attack people who vote for "No".

Former PM Tony Abbott was a decent person. He was not "homophobia" person as pro-Same-Sex marriage group. He was standing for what he believed and marriage was between a man and woman. The current Australian law didn't discriminate same-sex couples. They are discriminating against some people who are not with them.

It is not marriage equality if a bisexual cannot marry to two other people - one female and one male. Homosexuals only care about themselves. There are many other types of marriage that this does not support. If there is to be marriage equality then let anyone marry any one or more people for any reason without any limitations. Let's take this to its logical conclusion.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but either way it's irrelevant as to whether or not homosexuals should be allowed to marry, and is a different debate as to the current one.

So so let's try not to muddy the water with irrelevancies mmkay?

Oh so this really isn't about marriage equality after all.

I suggest you look at the example of the marriage referendum in Ireland which was largely violence free.

Feel free to paint LGBT people as violent if it furthers your agenda but it's a complete falsehood.

Are all heterosexuals violent because of domestic violence, sexual assaults etc?

The ignorance from the same old supects is more than tiresome; it's frightening. And wouldn't be out of place in one of those countries they want bombed back to the stone age.

"Largely violence free"? "Largely"? In Ireland?

Isn't this thread about a violent incident in Australia.

SYDNEY - A man wearing a "yes" badge headbutted former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott while he was campaigning against legalising gay marriage

Sure it is. Logic isn't your strong point, is it.
