"THE HAGUE — Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic was found guilty Thursday of genocide and sentenced to 40 years in jail over the worst atrocities in Europe since World War II." - article

Some will suggest others have as heinous a record.

Good.

Donald Rumsfeld next?

Given the problems that Muslims are causing in Europe now, I wonder how many Serbs and Europeans see him in a better light.

It should be pointed out that the U.S for what ever strange reason ends up aiding the wrong side in these sort of conflicts, bombing orthodox Christians and placing Muslims into power.

I wonder how many Serbs and Europeans see genocide in a better light. Really?

European hypocrites. There were lots of bad players in the Yugoslav war, but only the Serbs are singled out as bad guys. Why is Bill Clinton not in court for his illegal bombing of Serbia on behalf of the KLA?

European hypocrites

It's the International Criminal Court, so - by extension - everyone's a hypocrite, then?

No party in any conflict has a monopoly on grievance, nor should victimhood have a hierarchy. Of the horrors in this particular conflict, though, Srebrenica was particularly odious and undeniably genocidal in its conception and execution.

The sentencement is for appeasement those wealthy Gulf kingdoms. This man is a war hero who fight on behalf of his Serbian people. By the way the ICC has no jurisdiction of any world conflicts, it should be disbanded or took it never seriously.

The end does not justify the means

Only when you're a fundie from Israel.

ICC and ICTY are different courts. The former is a permanent judicial body and the latter an ad hoc tribunal.

Exactly what "fighting" did this "war hero" do? You know beyond being responsible for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity?

Libya, Syria and Ukraine are ok for genocide but Serbia is not.

Mea culpa. Both international, ten minutes apart in The Hague, Netherlands. In hypocritical Europe.

Like ICTY, the ICC covers trials for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.

The ICC is therefore the competent body to try Donald Rumsfeld, not ICTY.

One has to wonder if justice will ever be served against the American, Republican maniacs that not only destroyed Iraq, but bungled their own invasion in such an epic manner. I have little hope, yet nobody expected years ago that Saddam would hang or Gaddafi being dragged down the street by a pick-up truck....

Karadzic is a different story. It's a bit like the Nazi's - trying the few for the crimes of many. But at least those in charge have faced justice.

Atrocities against Serbs by Islamic militants were willfully forgotten by ICC. The Balkan war was an international Jihad that lead to these days dangerous Europe and other places. The Clintons,Blair were responsible of this.

scratches head Uh-huh.. and who was saying differently?

Atrocities against Serbs by Islamic militants were willfully forgotten by ICC.

Assume you mean the ICTY. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_indicted_in_the_International_Criminal_Tribunal_for_the_former_Yugoslavia

I spent 6 months in Bosnia. The Muslims were always congenial and accommodating, and I always felt safer among them. Serbs would glare at you and flip you the bird as you drove by.

It should be pointed out that the U.S for what ever strange reason ends up aiding the wrong side in these sort of conflicts, bombing orthodox Christians and placing Muslims into power.

Those Orthodox Christians used heavy weapons supplied by Russia to slaughter unarmed civilians

And what reaction did you expect after the NATO agression? Kisses?

Those Orthodox Christians used heavy weapons supplied by Russia to slaughter unarmed civilians

Those congenial and accomodating Muslims used heavy weapons, supplied by US / NATO/ Gulf monarchies to do the same, even worse. Croatians also enthustiastically did the same. Why single out Serbs?
