If your entire foreign policy turns on reversing everything your predecessor did, coupled in this instance by what's in it for our bosom chums, that nearby Apartheid state, well, good things aren't going to happen.

Obama and Kerry could have found the cure for cancer and Trump would say he's going to tear it up.

Were I Kerry, I'd take being 'bashed' by Trump and his team as badge of honor.

More often than not it's the work that happens behind the scenes that deserves to be credited with averting a much more catastrophic situation. We should all probably be quite thankful that at least someone is willing to talk to Iran.

Why is Iran the be-all end-all of US foreign policy. There are over 200 countries in the world, what's so special about Iran?

Great that you occasionally have something mildly critical to say about Trump - although it is again only when it aligns with Russian policy. Funny that.

@burningbsh There are over 200 countries in the world, what's so special about Iran?

Iran, as you're well aware, has huge reserves of oil and gas, just like its partner Russia.

Russia and Iran are doing what they can to control the oil and gas markets to keep the world hooked on burning hydrocarbons.

The US and whichever countries joining them in opposing the Russia-Iran bloc are trying to ensure their oil and gas corporations are the main sources of hydrocarbons.

The global .01% are fighting amongst themselves for their financial benefit, and of course for the benefit of their money people and their respective war industries.

Re burning hydrocarbons, could there possibly be a connection between that and climate change? This year's typhoons...

So... Trump loves Israel because his son-in-law is Jewish? Glad that's clear.

Trump has always had a history of supporting Jews, Jewish businesses and Israel way before he became President.

So which way do you want it? Either there's a real reason... or some fabricated pretense.

Or do you like it both ways?

And north Korea is better than Iran? Maybe the next president and secretary of state will point out the flaws of north Korea the way they are piinting out Iran.

Love all the excuses for Kerry and all the technicalities.

Replace “Kerry” with “trump official” and “Iran” with “russia” and liberals would be screaming about treason. Remember when liberals said the Trump transition team shouldnt he talking to anyone about policy because Trump wasn’t president “yet”.

But it’s ok, I’m sure Kerry was just catching up with an old friend. It’s obvious he wasn’t trying to undermine US foreign policy, right?

Kerry is and was a total idiot and emberassment in office and out. I wish he would just stop trying to act like an expert on anything as he is not.

I think Kerry, like McCain, served his country in more ways than Trump will ever. He never claimed to have bone-spurs, and is now trying to do some good. He's not sitting on his backside reading manga and watching anime all day.

It's Trump's job to undermine US foreign policy. That's what GoTrumpers said they wanted all along and now they're getting it. The US allies are...?

Trump is not fit to carry Mr Kerry's briefcase.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

@serrano Kerry should be arrested.

And put on Trial like Joseph K.? For doing something Trump supporters imagine is criminal? The US is not Russia or China where those who don't follow the dictates of the state, or somehow upset the dictator are arrested for doing something the dictator and his minions imagine to be against the law.

Don't forget NK! Dump loves him some NK. Remember, Dump and Pompeo finally solved that problem. There is now peace in Asia, right?

Kerry's actions here are, I think, problematic, whatever one may think of Trump's Iran policy (or his overblown reaction). That said, they're certainly no worse than Tom Cotton's letter to the Iranian government when Obama was president. A nation's foreign policy should be consistent and communicated with a minimum of confusion.

Tweets don't help either.

"John Kerry had illegal meetings with the very hostile Iranian Regime, which can only serve to undercut our great work to the detriment of the American people," Trump tweeted late Thursday. "He told them to wait out the Trump Administration! Was he registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act? BAD!"

Just having a meeting in itself isn't illegal -- but if Kerry was trying to engage in foreign policy in some way, that could potentially be illegal under the Logan Act.

At the very least, it's certainly inappropriate.

Actually, yes, they are worse -- because Cotton was a sitting senator at the time, while Kerry is not currently in any government position.

"Obama and Kerry could have found the cure for cancer and Trump would say he's going to tear it up."

No, but Trump and Pompeo could find the cure for cancer and Obama and Kerry would say they're going to tear it up.

"It's Trump's job to undermine US foreign policy."

No, but apparently Kerry thinks it's his job to undermine U.S. foreign policy.

"Trump is not fit to carry Mr Kerry's briefcase."

No, but Kerry is not fit to carry Trump's briefcase.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry dead last in terms of effectiveness in the job of Secretary Of State over the past 50 years. Just research a little. He was horrible!

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

However, John Kelly needs to answer why he met with Iranian Government's officials three times?

The United State politic is messy and both Parties are destroying the trust of people.

The Democrat and left wings media are trying to undermine President Trump Government and its policy.

Both sides must stop pointing finger and shouting at each other like children.

Very good at bashing other people ... unfortunately, no achievements of their own.
