The FAA, is headed by Stephen Dickson. An industry spewed pick. Executive with Delta. Delta has committed to re-establishing flights to China in June, same with United.

From an industry journal: Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are planning to restart passenger flights to mainland China in June, four months after all routes were suspended following the outbreak of COVID-19.

Delta intends to offer daily service to Shanghai Pudong from both its Detroit and Seattle-Tacoma.

OAG Schedules Analyser data shows flights from Detroit will begin on June 1st using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with Seattle resuming the same day on board A330-900neo. The network additions mean the SkyTeam alliance member will operate 7,350 two-way weekly seats between the US and China.

OAG schedules data shows that United is also planning to restart U.S.-China flights. From June 4th the Star Alliance member intends to fly daily to PVG from San Francisco (SFO) and New York Newark (EWR) using Boeing 787-9 and 777-300ER aircraft respectively. Daily service between SFO and PEK on board 787-9 will also begin on the same day.

Ask any of the thousands trying to get into America every day.

Or the thousands trying to get into China.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Who'd want to go to China anyway? Or America for that matter?

Right at this moment, I have no intention of going to China or the US. Both have a multitude of problems.

Glad to know your country is doing fine.

The administration of President Donald Trump stopped short of imposing restrictions on Chinese air carriers but said talks with China had failed to produce an agreement.

Trump is a complete failure.

Just decouple with China, return to status quo pre China opening up.

No more dealing with China in trades, simple don't need to sanction China clean cut.

Sounds to me like this is more of a misunderstanding that a cause for blowing things out of proportion. IMO, it is yet another example of Mr. Trump over-reacting to things.

America banned China flights while they were in the midst of their pandemic, so why is it wrong for China to do the same, AMerican isn't anywhere near containing the virus in many states. why would China want to risk reinfecting its population.

The FAA should just refuse landing for all Chinese flights. You know, like how China does it. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/chinese-authorities-deny-landing-clearance-for-australian-plane/vp-BBZLT0X

China seemingly knowingly, let people out of the Country during the early stages of the pandemic

America, in the throes of the pandemic, is still letting people out of the country.

Should that also be condemned?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

China seemingly knowingly, let people out of the Country during the early stages of the pandemic, and it has been rightly thought of elsewhere, that they did so as a purposeful decision. They have only themselves to blame for these thoughts - and who will believe them now for anything, other than whatever they say is for for the benefit of themselves - and by that, I mean for the benefit of the Senior CCP Party Members/Rulers - not the rest of the Chinese people.

You do realize that the country who's diplomatic and international tactics have completely changed is the United States under Donald Trump. The United States and Trump are creating a situation where allies now do not back the United States as near automatically as it once did.

This started with the American invasion of Iraq (hundreds of thousands of murdered innocent civilians in the hunt for non-existent WMDs we were promised were there), when Canada, who had supported America in all their previous wars, declined to support America in their unilateral invasion of a sovereign nation.

Obama managed to fix some of the distrust of America that Bush created. But Trump has exposed the flaw in looking to America to do the right thing in the world.

America talks about China the same way America talks about its political parties - they figure its a one or the other decision.

For the rest of the world, both countries are equally distasteful and dangerous.

It used to be that I would have said its definitely better for America to be the dominant country in the world. But now I don’t see any benefit of America over China. They’re both murderous bully countries.

This latest US -China soap opera just proves that Washingjing and Beijngton are actually silent partners if not secret lovers !

Are they bickering over custody of their COVID-19 baby?

Why would American airlines risks going to a country that have tens of thousands of unreported cases according to the Trump administration ?

Such a move is also against the China bashing Trump political strategy too so what gives?

The consequences without this will be a new world order of Chinese global influence and democratic erosions! The world needs to face up to the realities of China's subversive tactics.

You do realize that the country who's diplomatic and international tactics have completely changed is the United States under Donald Trump. The United States and Trump are creating a situation where allies now do not back the United States as near automatically as it once did. His arrogance and inability to critical think has left leaders of many nations ridiculing the United States, as seen in the recent decisions by Europe to reject Trump's confrontation with China and WHO. He's losing respect for the United States and consequently, America's standing as THE world leader. It isn't about what China is doing as much as how Trump is failing.

Trump's lack of accountability and blame of the coronavirus on China is one of his many acts of stupidity toward China which do not help relations with China, and in fact, antagonizes both sides. China has always had censorship and non transparent action leading to distrust, and there is not some new tactic from China, nor some new world order being schemed up by China.

In actuality, if the leader in America had any sense of diplomacy and could speak in words of wisdom rather than spews of an idiot, Xi would listen a lot more and other world leaders would respect the USA, rather than ignoring a buffoon. As more and more countries look at Trump as a fool, the US does lose its credibility and respect from world opinion, and this is the main reason why the world order is changing.

The US be it Trump or a Democrat need to confront China and impose economic sanctions and new trade agreements. The consequences without this will be a new world order of Chinese global influence and democratic erosions! The world needs to face up to the realities of China's subversive tactics. It's time to import less from China and more from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Burma, India etc.

I wouldn’t mind if both stop flying into each other’s territories.

Nobody knows the exact situation in China beyond what the government reports and the US still needs the situation to improve before other countries start allowing people in.

You do not hit a guy on the head with a hammer when your fingers are in his mouth, you will certainly feel a bite!

Screw china

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Funny how COVID19 has become the springboard for poltical plays by both China and the US. Each working hard to position themselves better for when it's all over.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Get your virus together and this’ll be a non-issue. Their economy went minus some 6.8%. They need the commerce.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The Chinese carriers ARE flying to the US, so Covid concerns are irrelevant. "Reciprocal" must not have a Chinese language equivalent.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

People from US flying to Europe every 5 minutes and same people flying to China even same day.

So no use of blocking or targeting just one country but better the whole world should be lockdown for at least next 3 months. Like how Wuhan was Ghost Town for 2 months, which is why China have less number of deaths. Has any cities of Western countries been that kind of ghost town? No, thus the higher number of deaths.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

While I certainly wouldn't visit Communist China, a lot of US citizens and businessmen need to. China is being confrontational. Let these Americans in now, Xi, or risk ALL Chinese being banned from USA!

0 ( +9 / -9 )

Too risky to allow in flights from the USA. The government there is not serious about bringing COVID-19 under control.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

SimonB, I regret hitting the send button on my snarky comment.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

I seriously think this guy is losing it big time. He is spiralling out of control.

Oh, how cute. You're only just noticing that.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Two things: Why would China open flights to a country that has more CVD problems then any other in the world?  If you want to reduce your risk then stop Americans travelling.  Secondly, given that Trump stopped flights from China (and claimed to have saved 2 million+ lives), why should China, or any other country, accede to Trumps demand (he doesn't do requests) to open up to America?  I seriously think this guy is losing it big time.  He is spiralling out of control.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

So the US is whining that the country that just a couple of days ago Trump threatened to cut off all economic relations with has decided not to give preference to US airlines?

Oh that is rich.

16 ( +21 / -5 )

China and the US are on my travel blacklist.

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Right at this moment, I have no intention of going to China or the US. Both have a multitude of problems.
