But a frame-by-frame comparison with an Associated Press video of the same incident shows that the one tweeted by Sanders appears to have been altered to speed up Acosta's arm movement as he touches the intern's arm, according to Abba Shapiro, an independent video producer who examined the footage at the AP's request.

No surprise. If you'd watched the press conference, you'd have seen that Acosta's arm goes up to block the intern.

The WH is manufacturing this anti-press propaganda.

26 ( +30 / -4 )

Not surprised at all.

23 ( +26 / -3 )

The Trump White House was crazy before, and now it's going full 1984.

If they keep at it, it will become hard to tell the difference between the US and Russia.

23 ( +26 / -3 )

Trump’s base will support it.

23 ( +27 / -4 )

No surprise, and no doubt they'll call the reporting of this doctored image as "fake news".

21 ( +25 / -4 )

Sarah Sanders - a liar in the service of liars.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

Does the Trump video show Accosta 'karate chopping' her?

Big lies redux.

Goebbels and Stalin redux.

The dangers of a cult of personality redux.

15 ( +18 / -3 )

The doctored video was originally made by infowars, who have denied that it was altered despite it clearly being so. The WH shared it. The irony of them using fake videos to justify their attack on fake news is tragically amusing but sadly routine for this bunch of failures & crooks.

15 ( +18 / -3 )

Just checked this dodgy video out next to the raw footage. It’s really amateurish.

I hope Trump supporters will be along shortly to decry fake news.

This is very sinister.

13 ( +19 / -6 )

Can’t they edit videos to make Trump’s hands look bigger?

13 ( +16 / -3 )

I wish that if they were gonna do it, at least make it entertaining. Laser beams from eyes would look good in that picture above. It'd be just as honest too.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

But he didn’t touch her! Right?

Do you have any opinion on the whitehouse sharing doctored videos?

You can just say it’s wrong you know.

The inability to say sharing doctored videos is wrong is disturbing.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Haaa NemuiToday 10:11 am JST

Laser beams from eyes would look good in that picture above. It'd be just as honest too.

Trump's dupes would probably still believe it.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

As libs focus their short attention spans

While Trumplicans ignore claims their political messiah's staff are 'faking news', thereby giving tacit approval to Trump using the office of the president to spread even more falsehoods.

But it's become apparent Trump's true believers care jack nada about honesty, ethics, morality and the rule of law, or most democratic principles in general for that matter.

Their only two beliefs seem to be: 'troll the libs' (while accepting foreign governments trolling the libs); and 'believe everything their political messiah and his media talking mouths say'.

Heal quickly, Justice Ginsberg.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

In any normal sane White House Acosta without doubt would have simply relented when asked, given the mic back, and allowed the next journalist to ask his/her question...

...but this isn’t a normal, sane White House. The President was standing there flat out lying - and lies multiple times every single day. The President makes, what some people feel are racist comments - dog whistles to white nationalists. The President attacks and insults with impunity.

Good on Acosta for trying to stand up to this bully, instead of just wilting and accepting his nonsensical waffle. Compare Acosta’s ‘awful’ behaviour when he actually makes a point of saying ‘pardon me ma’am’ to the WH staffer - with the President shouting multiple times at a black reporter to ‘sit down’, and telling the foreign journalists that he couldn’t understand what they were saying.

Its about time the journos start standing up to Trump. They need to start calling out his lies to his face.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Acosta was downright unprofessional and abusive. No doctored video needed to see that much! Trump haters will (as is clear above) decry his actions as justified. Same old same old.

Yes, Acosta was out of order.

So no opinion on the Whitehouse sharing doctored videos?

You can just say it is wrong you know.

This is getting more cultish by the day.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Hmm. Quoting Trump is deemed offensive/vulgar. But the vulgarity, offensiveness and falsehoods emanating from the WH are in everyday use and discussed endlessly. Where does one draw the line?

I'll re-phrase; just when did all the people who think that grabbing women by her genitals in private is acceptable decide that blocking a woman's arm in public is appalling?

And blocking is all Acosta did.

Sharing Infowars doctored videos and trying to pass it off as the truth is a disturbing new low.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

No one needs to ‘crap on trump’... he’s floundering in a swamp of his own making.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

“Fake news by the fake media, baaaaaad very baaaaaaad not good”

7 ( +11 / -4 )

There is more to it than that. Please check out the explanation directly from the person who made the video:

Hmm, good link that actually. I edit a lot of videos so I know where he is coming from. I've seen the alternative view where it does look as though the speed has been altered. Video editors don't insert frames when you pan in. That said, there really isn't much difference between the two videos anyway, so I admit that there is no conclusive proof that it was doctored. However, the whole argument is a load of tosh; it certainly wasn't a 'karate chop', or 'assault' or anything dramatic like that. She was rude in trying to grab the mic, he was wrong in not behaving more gentlemanly. Trump was certainly wrong in not answering a simple question and then using the chance to ban him. What's also troubling is that the WH uses infowars as a source.

The internal destruction of America is well under way. One can only hope the US can survive and ensure Trump is voted out of office in 2020 because America will not last to 2024 with Trump in charge.

Totally agree with the above post.

Modern day Sodom and Gomorrah?

Trump will over the next two years completely rip apart the fabric of the USA until the good old days are naught but a dim memory.

Nothing more dangerous than a scared animal backed into a corner.  The walls are closing in on Trump and we all no that he will go out with guns a blazin.

Can they doctor videos to make Sarah sound intelligent, or Trump coming out as mature.

The loony right wouldn't like it much I guess, they want their women stupid and the men whiny toddlers!

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Can’t they edit videos to make Trump’s hands look bigger?

Isn't that Trump's right hand on her shoulder? That's some technical wizardry right there!

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Trump continues to lead the charge in making America the political laughing stock of the world and the butt of jokes everywhere. A once proud nation is now wallowing in a mud bath of its own making. It is truly sad to see such a country as America fall to the bottom of the heap. Destroying any harmony at home and with no ability to fix it, only to keep making it worse, Trump will over the next two years completely rip apart the fabric of the USA until the good old days are naught but a dim memory.

The internal destruction of America is well under way. One can only hope the US can survive and ensure Trump is voted out of office in 2020 because America will not last to 2024 with Trump in charge.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Being out of hand as a reporter is their job

Doctoring videos for political purposes is evil.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Yeah, it is very troubling that only Infowars made a video focusing on Acosta pushing down on the intern's arm. Everyone else was focusing on finding ways to crap on Trump...

Thank goodness for infowars, eh? Any pedophile vampires been up to fictitious school shootings recently?

Do you have an opinion on the Whitehouse sharing doctored videos?

You wouldn’t believe how difficult it is to get an answer to that from some.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Oh okay so now we're altering footage ey?

"We've always been at war with Oceania"

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Serrano, this is very simple: the video was edited by a far right conspiracy maniac to make it appear that Acosta was using more force than he did in reality. You can clearly see in the original video that (as you admit!) he isn’t using force, and coincidental touches her arm.

However, Trump and Sanders are using this edited video AS PROOF that he hit her as justification for taking his press pass. They are openly lying and using the resources of a website which thinks fluoride is turning frogs gay.

Acosta’s rudeness, if you want to call it that, is NOT being cited by them as a reason to take his press pass. It’s a fictional attack on an intern that he didn’t commit.

You yourself say (correctly) that Acosta did not assault her. You note the video has been edited. The White House is relying on this evidence, which has been edited specifically to make it look like something which didn’t happen, happen.

Why can’t you denounce this obvious lie by the White House? It’s like you’re agreeing that two plus two is more than three, less than five, but disputing that it’s four.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

As libs focus their short attention spans on Acosta's press credentials, 85 year old Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fell today and was hospitalized with 3 fractured ribs. I hope for a quick recovery followed by retirement. Trump could be making another SCOTUS selection.

Democrats meet Amy Barrett, the next Supreme Court Justice.

Since we're off topic, spare a thought for the latest illegal move on asylum seekers.

"US law specifically allows individuals to apply for asylum whether or not they are at a port of entry,"

Under US law, there is a legal obligation to hear asylum claims from migrants if they say they fear violence in their home countries.

Those seeking asylum must be fleeing due to a serious fear of persecution. Under international law, these are considered refugees.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46147137

Although, given that Acosta was trying to ask Trump about his racist rhetoric on the migrants, I think it's fair to point out that this proposal is the latest step to undermine the America that was once loved and admired.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

@peter14 The internal destruction of America is well under way.

If you were posting on JT during the presidential election you would have read many Trump supporters, American and 'foreign', say that's just what they wanted. Many are still saying the same thing. They've bought into the Bannon, Internet Research Agency, infowars etal world of plots hatched by the deep state and other ghouls.

@hollisB n any normal sane White House Acosta without doubt would have simply relented when asked, given the mic back,

I agree.

@TH Sharing Infowars doctored videos and trying to pass it off as the truth is a disturbing new low.

I agree. And once again I don't think nadir's been reached.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

An edited video that's not explicitly marked as edited, for the purpose of misrepresenting, is called doctoring

If ya edit a video, ya have to explicitly make it known how it's edited and why it was done - therefore people will be informed of the purpose

Ya don't just change something without letting people know what ya changed and for what. (And yes, I've been published before, and this is something we had to be conscious about)

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Just another day at the White House freak show.

It is both ghoulishly fascinating as well as becoming somewhat repetitive.

Even the paying visitors to watch the inmates at Bedlam eventually had enough was enough. I feel like I have had enough.

But before I switch off, I want just want final hit.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The lighting is a little different, yeah. Acosta's arm movement sped up? Come on, it's the same as the raw footage

Why do you think this video was doctored? To change the lighting?

The frames have been analyzed. The frames were doctored in an inept attempt to show Acosta’s arm moving more quickly than it actually did in real time.

Come on, man up. Just concede it was disgraceful that the whitehouse used this trash. You can see the moral bankruptcy on display here. You are better than that.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Speaking of the caravan, what happened to it? As soon as the election was over Trump, the GOP and Fox News forgot all about it. Almost as if it was just a racist, xenophobic ploy to get out the bigot vote.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

if it is proven that the video was doctored, the people responsible need to be called out for it.

The video posted by Sanders is identical to the one posted by Infowars editor Paul Joseph Watson, both of which are different from the original C-Span footage. Watson is a notorious peddler of fabrication, including his reporting that the recent gun massacre in Thousand Oaks, CA was perpetrated by a Middle Easterner (who was in fact a white Marine vet). Close examination suggests the video of Acosta was altered by someone.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/11/white-house-jim-acosta-video-manipulated-doctored-analysis.html

It’s inappropriate for the WH press secretary to tweet a video she got from a source like Infowars. Totally deceptive. If team Trump thinks Acosta was so out of bounds, they shouldn’t have to use a doctored video to convince the American public of that.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trump supporters - break the chains.

Just say it’s wrong to use doctored videos.

You can do it.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Doesnt matter if they used Infowars or not

True. Who created this doctored video is incidental.

The point is the whitehouse used a doctored video.

This is a disgrace. Where is your spine?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trump had every right to remove that idiot

What exactly do you think was wrong with Acosta’s questions? Trump had characterized the caravan an “invasion” and Acosta wanted to know if that terminology was demonizing these people. That seems to me a fair and relevant question. Acosta then tried to ask a question about the Russia investigation, which also seems fair and relevant considering Democrats have taken the House and will be in a stronger position to pursue this matter, whatever fruit the investigation will bear. Are these questions worth being called a terrible person and having one’s press credentials revoked? Uncomfortable for a president to answer, but it’s part of the president’s duties to the public to communicate via an arbitrating press and not simply mouthing off on Twitter.

he doesn’t call the shots, the President, that’s it

Nobody’s claiming Acosta deserves to be a dictator. Are you claiming Trump deserves to be one?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump had every right to remove that idiot.

"Have every right to remove that idiot" - words we'll be hearing soon again after Mueller's report...

Pass credentials seized, done.

1st Amendment violated, done...

Maybe if he can behave himself, share the mic and stop being obnoxious, he can get back in

If he kisses the ring and swears to never utter another hard, unfair question...

he doesn’t call the shots, the President, that’s it.

He's GOD you know, just like Kim Jong Un - we all love him...

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Nice is not in Trump's vocabulary - "grab em by the _____" is though...

Now I wonder if Jorge Ramos is next.

Just like a Trump supporter to go after a Latin American...and they say they're not racist....

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Trump doesn’t have to call on Acosta. He wants the confrontation so he can tell the world that’s he’s a victim.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Acosta is such a whiney baby, haha, btw, is Don Lemon fired yet?

The future of America, folks.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Luckily for Trump, the utter disconnect in their world will block them from the irony of releasing fake news while blaming others for releasing fake news.

It won't cross their mind in any way, shape, or form.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump has been the ultimate purveyor of fake news right from the start. Years and years of birthirism claims, faking transcripts in official white house records, now faking videos.

Trump IS fake news. The GOP supports fake news. The right are all deep-state right-wing fake-news MSM.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If it is proved that the video has been doctored, whoever is responsible should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

Editing a video isn’t against the law. The problem is the White House is promoting an obviously doctored video edited by far right conspiracy theorists at InfoWars as the truth - and Trump’s supporters gobble it up. They will literally believe the word of Trump instead of their own eyes.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Acosta will be back. Trump needs the headlines.

It’s moral bankruptcy.

Sad.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Speaking of the caravan, what happened to it?

The GOP never cared about the caravan. They were just a tool to retain power. It allowed them to exploit fear in their low-intellect zealots, scaring them into voting repulsivican.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Lol, the White House shared a fake video

Here's a tech site that explains it much better how it was doctored:

https://www.theverge.com/2018/11/8/18076532/fake-doctored-video-cnn-cspan-infowars-sarah-huckabee-sanders-jim-acosta

At first glance, he says that “they sped up the clip to emphasize the motion” — the video speeds up when Acosta’s hand makes contact with the intern’s arm. “You can see the hand raised in the background moves more quickly, an and her face turns more quickly, and the guy on the left drops his mic down to waist level more quickly,” he explains. Overlaying the two videos in the same frame, he says, is the best way to demonstrate exactly how it differs: the Press Secretary’s video clearly speeds up at the moment Acosta’s hand touches the intern’s arm.

“This is not just frame blending, which would happen if you transcoded from different frame rates,” Hermann said. “it’s a sloppily-done speed change on the footage itself.”

The Verge’s design director William Joel agrees. “I can’t say for a certainty that Infowars sped up or slowed down their footage, but it is suspect that when the two clips are overlaid the only time we see a discrepancy is during the moment in question,” he says. “If this was truly a result of ghosting or some frame-rate difference from varying source materials, you would expect to see the same ghosting over the entire clip, not just during one specific moment.”

So always mind the source where ya get your videos, folks

1 ( +2 / -1 )

There are multiple videos from different sources of the same incident. But Sanders specifically used the low quality, doctored looking version (from an untrusted "news" source) instead of all the other different ones to "justify" their stance. For our executive office to use such tactics is exactly by the Russian, Iranian, and other despotic nations playbook makes Trump look no better than dictators, oligarchs, tyrants, and imperialists in the past and the present!

You advocate for this kind of $#%# in the USA? You folks are so far gone there is no hope for you. As I've said before you have sold your souls as AMERICANS. Make shift false patriotism with the ultimate goal of totalitarianism. SICK SICK SICK!!!

I know Acosta was unprofessional, but that was on him. But for the WH to do something even worse and degrading to this entire nation is just downright destructive to the entire country!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Just admit this video wasn't doctored, it was simply edited with one part in slow motion and highlighted.

That’s what doctoring a video is, when you try to pass it off as the fact of what happened.

Why are you so afraid to criticise Trump? Why are you so afraid to disagree with the status quo? Why are you so afraid to be free?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Bass:: Doesnt matter if they used Infowars or not

There ya have it, folks.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Acosta prevented a young woman from carrying out her job and applied physical force in doing so. Thanks the issue. But do whatever you need to do to make excuses for it.

well if that was true then why the need to make a fake video of the actual incident. The real video clearly shows the intern grabbing Acosta by the arm first, but instead, they make a fake video to try and make it look like Acosta was the aggressive party. LOL

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The current occupant of the White House in Washington, D.C. has turned it into the fake news, disinformation and misinformation headquarters of the United States of America.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I just want to thank Jim Acosta for all of his campaigning efforts to make sure President Trump gets re-elected in 2020! yep the majority of the Senate seats available will be republican. The house being taken over by the Dems give you the real picture of what the American people think of Trump

0 ( +1 / -1 )

That make difference?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

the whole argument is a load of tosh

That sums it up for me pretty accurately.

Taking sides between politicians and journalists. No thanks.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

What exactly do you think was wrong with Acosta’s questions?

Nothing, his conduct and attitude and aggressiveness is beyond annoying and condescending. He has a different opinion from the President that’s ok, but his job is to inform, be professional and ask questions and get reasonable answers, not to be an obnoxious....ahem and be belligerent, in your face and combative, I’m usually not for banning the press, I know how this goes, but Acosta needed that timeout, even the other liberal reporters don’t act THAT looney. Acosta brought it all on himself, Hope he learned something from this and if not and in the future he does that kind of stunt, then they should take his press credentials away again until he learns.

Trump had characterized the caravan an “invasion” and Acosta wanted to know if that terminology was demonizing these people.

The President didn’t think so, Acosta did, ok, difference of opinions.

Acosta then tried to ask a question about the Russia investigation, which also seems fair and relevant considering Democrats have taken the House and will be in a stronger position to pursue this matter,

Yes, but he started to hog the mic and wasn’t satisfied with the Presidents answer and he had to once again go that low gutter ground. I know CNN or better yet, Zucker wants his people to fight Trump I get it, but there is a limit your conduct and actions working on behalf of your network in the White House.

whatever fruit the investigation will bear. Are these questions worth being called a terrible person and having one’s press credentials revoked?

Usually, it does not. But in Jim’s case, it does.

Uncomfortable for a president to answer, but it’s part of the president’s duties to the public to communicate via an arbitrating press and not simply mouthing off on Twitter.

Trump didn’t seem uncomfortable at all, he seemed teed off and he doesn’t like Jim or CNN so I can’t say I blame him.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

"the White House is promoting an obviously doctored video"

Come now, Sneezy, you can't honestly tell us you can actually tell the WH version has noticeably speeded up Acosta's arm movement. I watched it several times and I can't see the difference in his arm speed. Did you watch both versions? I will say this - if it is proven that the video was doctored, the people responsible need to be called out for it.

I'll also say this. Acosta did not intentionally touch the woman, they made contact when she rightfully reached to take his microphone to give it to the next reporter. That being said, Acosta is pretending this violates the First Amendment. Question: Does he really care about the Constitution?

He is highly unprofessional and makes a mockery of White House press briefings. He should be banned just for the respect of the American people. Nobody in their right mind wants this jackass at the briefings, it's freaking embarrassing.

Things to consider:

1 The mic was not his.

2 The people in that room agreed to a set of rules upon entering.

3 He had violated those rules, giving her the right to retrieve the mic.

He was clearly bullying her. Oh , and folks... don't try pushing a cop's hand away when he reaches for anything you have in your hand, you will find that it is assault in the eyes of the law.... like it or not.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Acosta will be back. Trump needs the headlines

No, It’s the other way around, Trump has been making headlines since the late 70’s one lousy reporter won’t help him, but he sure helps CNN....to an extent.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

There ya have it, folks.

Because facts are not facts unless it’s on MSNBC or the Huffington Post.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I know Acosta was unprofessional, but that was on him. But for the WH to do something even worse and degrading to this entire nation is just downright destructive to the entire country!

Acosta prevented a young woman from carrying out her job and applied physical force in doing so. Thanks the issue. But do whatever you need to do to make excuses for it.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Acosta is such a whiney baby, haha, btw, is Don Lemon fired yet?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Unfortunately for Trump haters the disconnect in their world will block them from reality.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The alleged reporter Acosta decided to chastise Trump during a Whitehouse press conference. While the President tried to move on to other, polite, reporters, Acosta chose to be rude and kept talking while refusing to release the microphone. When a woman tried to take the mic back from Acosta, ACOSTA STRUCK HER ON THE ARM. And there is video of him doing so.

As a result of Acosta hitting a woman, Acosta lost his WH press credentials.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

OK, so I watched a video of the two versions of Acosta's rude behavior uploaded by the Washington Post, which hates Trump. I'm sorry, I just don't see any difference other than the lighting is slightly different.

Acosta didn't assault the woman, he was just being his usual rude self.

"Here's a tech site that explains it much better how it was doctored:"

LOL. Here's what it is. Sarah Huckabee Sanders shared out a video of this incident, and it's zoomed in slightly and slowed down, now it appears to have come from Infowars, and everyone's like, oh, the White House is sharing out doctored footage, this isn't real. LOL. Folks, it's zoomed in and slowed down. Every single one of your mainstream media firms at some point or another has aired a story where they have done this. This is not doctoring, it's not misrepresenting the fundamental content of the video, it's simply focusing on the important element of that video and slowing it down so people can get a better idea of what happened. That's not film doctoring.

Acosta did not assault the staffer. Putting your hand out pushing someone's arm away is not assault. Unless you're putting your hand in a very obvious location. it'd be funny if Acosta had done that, it'd be like "Hey, let me cop a feel here while this staffer happens to be six inches away from my face, this is going to be funny, and I'm going to get away with it it because I work for CNN," LOL.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

"It's just one big circus"

Yeah, well at least the biggest clown just got kicked out of the circus.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

It’s inappropriate for the WH press secretary to tweet a video she got from a source like Infowars. Totally deceptive.

Why? CNN is always deceptive, Acosta made that clear today, so why the outrage?

If team Trump thinks Acosta was so out of bounds, they shouldn’t have to use a doctored video to convince the American public of that.

Doesnt matter if they used Infowars or not, the people could see how belligerent Acosta was, the woman was doing her job as an intern her job is to get the mic and Whoever has it needs to give it up when she asks for it, give it back. He can’t bully his way thinking he can hog the mic and wants to get into a stupid opinionated argument with the President of thr US.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

"Just say it’s wrong to use doctored videos."

It's wrong to use doctored videos. Happy? Now.... oh my...

Just admit this video wasn't doctored, it was simply edited with one part in slow motion and highlighted.

You can do it.

So the "expert" who claims it was doctored should apologize for spreading false information!

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

The doctored video was originally made by infowars, who have denied that it was altered despite it clearly being so.

There is more to it than that. Please check out the explanation directly from the person who made the video:
