This will keep happening until Russia goes back home. Do the right thing for a change, Russia.

Ukraine's next move will be to further inflict damage inside Russia itself. As I see it, Russia is about to get its comeuppance and Putin will go AWOL.

Moscow was planning a "large-scale provocation" as justification to decouple the plant from the Ukrainian power grid and connect it to Russia's.

Why would Putin, the oil baron who personally controls such huge reserves of oil and gas, need to steal another nation's power, I cannot believe it's because he is even the tiniest bit concerned that burning huge amounts of oil and gas contributes to air pollution and also might be responsible for climate change.

If the above taken from the article is true, what have those trusting Putin media’s outlets reported to explain why Putin might be planning a ‘large scale provocation’ which could put millions, including some of his own Russian citizens at risk? Or is Putin saying once again the west/NATO/US goaded him into doing this, and that there were Nazis hiding WMDs inside the nuke facility. If so, to me that sounds like another Q level theory blaming alien reptiles for problems.

The problems in Ukraine today could be best addressed after Putin tells his armies to go back to Russia. It’s on Warmonger Putin and his warmonger backers in China, Iran and elsewhere to stop the madness they have created.

Russia losing yet another war.

Let's face it, you either win in four weeks or it's a failure. The war is now getting towards autumn and Russia won't win in the next few months, and then winter comes.

11 ( +20 / -9 )

Ah,you measure war ,by the misery you bring into lives of people, Russian infrastructure is still functional, people of Ukraine will be be disillusioned at Christmas

-16 ( +6 / -22 )

Ukraine also issued a warning about a frontline nuclear power station where it said it believed Moscow was planning a "large-scale provocation" as justification to decouple the plant from the Ukrainian power grid and connect it to Russia's.

As I have been saying all along as the most obvious reason for the shelling of the nuclear power station. However, many posters here don't seem to see the obvious. Of course, by calling it out, they will hopefully prevent Russia from going ahead with the plan.

A Western official indicated on Friday that at least some of the incidents were Ukrainian attacks, saying Kyiv was now consistently achieving "kinetic effects" deep behind Russia's lines. The attacks were hurting Russia's forces and had "a significant psychological effect on the Russian leadership," the official said, on condition of anonymity.

The effect on Russian morale must be devastating.

What a nice story to end the week!

1 ( +10 / -9 )

Why is the Ukrainian servicemen in the center of the photo have a union jack flag and a punisher logo patches on his vest and a big smile ?

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

What a nice story to end the week

Ahem ..by the way - it's only 2 am in Ukraine on Saturday right now.

Sunday is the end of the week.

Alot can happen between now and the end of the week.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Ukraine will be be disillusioned at Christmas

you are delusional for thinking this.

Russian infrastructure is still functional

is it really ? Just because it hasn’t been bombed, does that make Russian industry functional ?

Why is the Ukrainian servicemen in the center of the photo have a union jack flag

he’s probably a British volunteer fighter

Now that the Ukrainians have officially attacked the inside of Russia you can expect Putin to unleash a gruesome response to the Ukrainian rebuke.

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

Awa no Gaijin

Now that the Ukrainians have officially attacked the inside of Russia you can expect Putin to unleash a gruesome response to the Ukrainian rebuke.

More war crimes most likely.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Awa - what do you think they have been doing for 6 months, tickling Ukrainians to death?

9 ( +15 / -6 )

As if the rusting hulk of the Moskva at the bottom of the Black Sea is not evidence enough, more proof of Putin's debacle in Ukraine.

He's bombed schools, shopping malls, hospitals....what's next, blowing up the nuclear plant at Zaporizhzhia?

He's clearly detached from reality and living in his own Potemkin Village...

Hopefully someone in his inner circle will soon announce he's had an "accident"...

7 ( +14 / -7 )

Too, Russian infrastructure is shipping gas through Ukraine,I never known anyone, who finance their demise ,by helping their adversaries raise money at their expense

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

This “New World Order “ with China and Russia isn’t shaping up to well.. lol lol.

Russia is a joke..

5 ( +11 / -6 )

The aid run out in this fiscal year, the American people do not care if any more money is continued to be spent on this war, when American are in need themselves

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Ukraine also issued a warning about a frontline nuclear power station where it said it believed Moscow was planning a "large-scale provocation" as justification to decouple the plant from the Ukrainian power grid and connect it to Russia's.

A nuclear power plant strikes me as a damn dangerous place to be playing games.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Uchoose

Tickling Ukrainians to death

Iam not understanding the purpose of your response.

Or which comment your referring to isn't clear .

Death and destruction isn't a laughing matter.

Do you think that now the Ukrainians have officially attacked inside of Russia that Putin will be amused and wont fight back ?

It's no laughing matter either way .

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

The West is now sending weapons for a counter attack in the South.

The Russians are going to rue the day they mistook Ukraine’s will to fight.

Just wait until more Russian targets deeper in Mother Russia are held at risk.

the Russians will rue the day.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

More war crimes most likely

I certainly hope not.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Awa - I was referring to your previous comment. I agree with you that the war is no laughing matter and I would like to see it finished as soon as possible.

Of course Putin is going to be upset and of course he is going to do something that will cause Ukrainians to die, combatants and civilians alike. I imagine the Ukrainians have taken this fact into account and are hopefully only targeting the most impactful military and logistical assets.

The Russians are going to launch attacks on Ukraine every day until they go home, so the Ukrainians might as well fight back with both hands, as they are starting to do.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Just wait until more Russian targets deeper in Mother Russia are held at risk.

the Russians will rue the day.

Smart civilians in Crimea and Belgorod are already starting to evacuate. I don't understand why Russia keeps poking Ukraine. This isn't going to end well for them.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Whatever it takes to get those war crazy Russians out of YOUR country is a good thing. Keep up the pressure!

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Russian infrastructure is still functional, people of Ukraine will be be disillusioned at Christmas

This is the same mistake Mr. Putin and his advisors made initiating their, cough cough, "special military operation" invading Ukraine. One is never disillusioned when it is about protecting their land and their homes from a foreign invader. If anything Ukrainian will is stiffening.

And while Russia's infrastructure may be intact, it's GDP has already been reduced to that of 2018 and we see the vaunted Russian Army using civilian trucks to move troops and equipment because they can no longer maintain their military trucks. Meanwhile Russian reservists and civilian contractors brought in build things for the Russian military are not being paid. Some regular combat units are also not being paid.

Inside Russia, two villages were evacuated after explosions at an ammunition dump in Belgorod province, near the Ukrainian border but more than 100 km (60 miles) from territory controlled by Ukrainian forces.'

When the US initially agreed to supply the long range missile systems didnt Ukraine guarantee to US it would not use the long range missile systems to strike targets inside Russia to avoid escalation? Was that promise broken or does US support the use of the systems to strike inside Russia now? Legit question as I remember Putin saying Moscow would have reasons to use weapons they havent until now if Russia proper was being attacked.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

gintonic - These may not be US-supplied weapons. They may be coming from other countries or even Ukraine itself. They make stuff too.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Ah,you measure war ,by the misery you bring into lives of people, Russian infrastructure is still functional, people of Ukraine will be be disillusioned at Christmas

The ones living under Russian occupation have been disillusioned with that experience since day one, and the desire to avoid suffering a similar fate is a powerful motivator for those in the rest of the country, broken infrastructure or no, which will last until the Russians are gone from their country.

Russians don’t have a similar incentive to fight, which is why those on the ground are already disillusioned.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Russian troops shelled and shocked.

Macron's office said Putin agreed to a mission by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Zaporizhia.

In a phone conversation between the two leaders on Friday, Putin agreed that the mission should pass through Ukraine and not Russia, which is what Kyiv and its Western partners want.

During his crucial visit to the port of Odesa in southern Ukraine, the UN Secretary-General said, "Obviously, the electricity from Zaporizhzhia is Ukrainian electricity... This principle must be fully respected."

8 ( +10 / -2 )

When the US initially agreed to supply the long range missile systems didnt Ukraine guarantee to US it would not use the long range missile systems to strike targets inside Russia to avoid escalation?

I don't remember this being said, but that's not to say it wasn't. It's possible.

Legit question as I remember Putin saying Moscow would have reasons to use weapons they havent until now if Russia proper was being attacked.

Ukraine proper is being attacked, so it seems a little unfair that Ukraine shouldn't be allowed to strike Russia.

What sort of weapons do you think he was referring to?

6 ( +9 / -3 )

I don't think anyone is claiming they used Himars for the attacks in Russia? It could easily be helicopter or UAV strikes.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

gintonic - saboteurs don't need US weapons. They are probably buying Chinese "toy" drones just like Russia does.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Just think of the ass-whipping in store for Russia’s rabble of mercenaries, convicts and rubes when Ukraine starts fielding Western armor and aircraft?

Just daydreaming here, the Littoral Combat Ship didn’t work out too well for the USN, but as a class of ship, it would probably make pretty quick work of the Black Sea “fleet” and we have several ready for decommissioning that we could just transfer and Train Ukraine on.

This is how propaganda works..... big story about the two blasts in Russian held areas but no mention of the twenty in Ukrainian areas. Or the battlefield in the east moving slowly to the west... Got to keep the folks on side by pretending they are winning.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

The UN Secretary-General asked Putin to withdraw his troops from the nuclear power plant but the request was refused.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

This is how propaganda works..... big story about the two blasts in Russian held areas but no mention of the twenty in Ukrainian areas.

Well, you could always share that news with us? Unless of course you distrust it too much to do so?

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Washington Post has a great article on how badly Putin underestimated Ukraine's will to resist.

Its analysts either did not fathom how forcefully Ukraine would respond, Ukrainian and Western officials said, or did understand but couldn’t or wouldn’t convey such sober assessments to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The aggressor must obtain its objectives to win. Russia has obtained none.

Ukrainian resistance and will is getting stronger not weaker. Stronger not weaker since the beginning of the war.

Right now, Russia is losing both locally and geopolitically.

These are facts not propaganda.

This conflict might (because one cannot say with perfect clarity) be heading towards an inflection point ala the Pacific in mid 1942.

During the blitz of London when the UK stood alone against the "unstoppable" Nazi wave, 93% of Londoners believed that the UK was going to win.

Today, 98% of Ukrainians believe they are going to win.

Given their will and the Western will to support them, I think they're right.

One of the features of these attacks are the lack of any indication they came from the skies, whether by air strike, drones or missiles. So far they all appear to have been ground strikes either by resistance fighters or Ukrainian special forces.

Mr. Kipling,

maybe you want to make yourself smart and also check other (trustworthy!) websites.

Russians attacking, being repulsed, chaotic retreats, abandoning their equipment, and so on.

Russians who "wanted to) live in the Crimea area doing their best to get back to Russia (must be too hot there).

More military hardware coming to Ukraine, Putin won't be able to win his 3-day-special operation.

(by the way, did I mention that it's now more than 3 days?)

8 ( +12 / -4 )

so UA is finally "winning"?

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

so UA is finally "winning"?

Why, are you thinking of changing sides?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

so UA is finally "winning"?

Of course! Didn’t you see some guy claim Russia has supposedly met none of their objectives??

they have actually been winning the whole time we just keeping score the wrong way.

-10 ( +5 / -15 )

they have actually been winning the whole time we just keeping score the wrong way.

Maybe the Russians are having the war 'stolen' from them in some kind of elaborate 'war fraud' conspiracy?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Even if Ukraine cannot win its war it does not change the fact that it is Russia that is the aggressor and invader of a sovereign country and will pay a price for decades to come.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Maybe the Russians are having the war 'stolen' from them in some kind of elaborate 'war fraud' conspiracy?

Nah your super fast reply and immediate deflection to something else says I’m correct.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

By any legitimate method of previous measurement for who is winning a war, it’s not Ukraine.

take out the emotion of who you want to win and it’s easily seen as fact.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Nah your super fast reply and immediate deflection to something else says I’m correct.

Another bizarre metric for measuring factuality, along with 'lots of people believe it' and 'it has to be true because my favourite guy told me'. Would a super slow reply have meant that you were incorrect?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

By any legitimate method of previous measurement for who is winning a war, it’s not Ukraine.

Its also not Russia.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Of course! Didn’t you see some guy claim Russia has supposedly met none of their objectives??

Is Russia in full control of the Donbas region? No.

Has Russia launched much less effected an ambitious invasion of Odessa? No

Has Russia taken Kiev and dethroned or killed Zelenski? No.

Is NATO demoralized and in disarray? No.

Is Russia’s Northern flank NATO-free? No.

Is the Ukrainian will to fight diminished? No.

Is the Black Sea “fleet” capable of asserting its will? No.

Are the Russians pulling ancient tanks out of mothballs because all their good ones are conscript ovens? Yes.

Are the Russians now resorting to filling their ranks with murderers, drug offenders and other felons? Yes.

Are front line Russian units refusing to fight, in part because they haven’t been paid? Yes.

Has Russia attained any of its objectives? No

Is Russia winning? No.

Doesn’t that mean they’re losing (as of now realizing that things can change)? Yes.
