Good.

Freedom of speech prevails.

Let each individual decide for themselves

I don't think ads as being part of freedom of speech. Those political parties are well in the right of publishing what they want on their websites, but pushing ads to me, who never asked for anything for political reason is not about freedom of speech. It's propaganda.

@blacklaeFree speech for all, then I decide what I believe or don’t.

How does 'free speech for all' square with your daily anti-media (media according to the global alt right's glossary is a pejorative, meaning outlets that question Trump and Putin) harangues.

Social media companies have been trying to tackle misinformation since it was learned that Russians bankrolled thousands of fake political ads during the 2016 elections to sow discord among Americans.

The Russians knew which social media to target to reach America's most fearful and intellectually vulnerable. It should be no surprise Russia used NRA and KKK outlets to spread alt facts and fake news.

social media is warping democracy and undermining elections.

Russia, China, North Korea and Iran (what a bloc!) have been active in using social media to attack US systems. But in fairness, US alt right groups, e.g. Bannon's, are also using Breitbart and outlets like 8chan, Fox 'news' and others to spread their messages.

Paid troll is a new job title. It's a job for pond scum and others with few or any other skills.

Despite escalating pressure ahead of the 2020 presidential election, Facebook reaffirmed its freewheeling policy on political ads Thursday, saying it won’t ban them, won’t fact-check them and won’t limit how they can be targeted to specific groups of people.

Huge win for Trump and Putin.

If you are not boycotting Facebook by now, you are actively and consciously working against yourself and the quality of your freedom and how your children will live.

Instead, Facebook said it will offer users slightly more control over how many political ads they see and make its online library of political ads easier to browse.

Let me get this straight: it's ok for snake-oil salesmen to make up dangerous lies because Facebook is going to allow the people who already know they're lies to not see them anymore.

But it's ok to deceive the people who are unsuspecting or naive.

Quite the moral stance.

In recent months, Facebook, Twitter and Google refused to remove a misleading video ad from President Donald Trump’s campaign that targeted Biden.

"Good."

"Huge win for freedom of speech, democracy and the common people."

"liberals are upset that they can’t block any measure of support"

Someone should make Facebook, Mr. Zuckerberg, and executives bear the brunt of their decision. I wonder how they'd feel if someone started posting news stories about the Pedo ring running from FB HQ? Lying is totally okay, right?/s

blacklabel: It’s even worse when liberal media says “misleading”.

Do you think the video is misleading?

How much is a paid Russian troll worth these days? $1,200 a month? I'm genuinely curious.

@bas4f liberals wanting to suppress conservative free speech,

How about neonationalsocialists constantly attacking free, for-profit media who question Trump while cheering on Trump's constant attacks on the free, for-profit press. SMH

Facebook again refuses to ban political ads, even false ones

What is that even supposed to mean? Arent all political ads false? By definition, even? They all aim to promote one party, so of course they are not exactly neutral.

PTownsend - How about neonationalsocialists constantly attacking free, for-profit media who question Trump while cheering on Trump's constant attacks on the free, for-profit press.

What is a "free, for-profit media"? Aren't for-profit media outlets beholding to their advertisers, shareholders, and board of directors? And to their own very personal biases?

Trump counter-punches the news media outlets, and their spokesmodels, and their pundits when they attack him. It seems that Democrats, and Hillary-worshippers, object to Trump/conservatives/Republicans for DEFENDING themselves.

Free speech is free speech. You say something. Someone responds. Someone else responds to those stories/comments. Someone is expected to check, and publish, the facts. That is something that news media outlets USED to be known for. Today, the news media outlets are known for their political leanings. Currently, news media outlets more concerned with being the first to report a story than in getting the story correct, and factual. Having "free speech for all" means that even the news media outlets are subject to criticism.

Good. I don’t want the government or social media companies determining what I can and can’t see and blocking what they determine is a lie.

Free speech for all, then I decide what I believe or don’t.

Prime example is that 2 days ago Iran shooting down that plane with a missile (hopefully a horrible accident) was a “conspiracy theory”, “disinformation” and a “lie”.

This information would have likely been removed/blocked from social media due to this misconception now that we hear it’s likely true.

Facebook is a business who only wants to make money, and these organizations give FB money. It would be a bad business decision to not accept these ads.

In other words, liberals are upset that they can’t block any measure of support or political ads counter acting anything negative from liberals wanting to suppress conservative free speech, how dare they?! You can make the same opposite argument about FB not wanting to silence one sided liberal anti Trump political ads and just allowing and giving liberals free reign to say whatever they want.

Huge win for freedom of speech, democracy and the common people.

Huge defeat for the fascistic, dictatorial, leftist, globalists. Aka the Democratic Party, Washington DC deep state swamp dwellers, CNN and other mainstream US media, Planned Parenthood, Southern Poverty Law Center, Hollywood elitists, etc, etc.

Well done Facebook!

I believe idiot Antifas or any National social movement are credible, but they do have the right to the first amendment, now if people choose to listen to these propagandists that’s on them.

If you are not boycotting Facebook by now, you are actively and consciously working against yourself and the quality of your freedom and how your children will live.

I left FB a very long time ago.

But it's ok to deceive the people who are unsuspecting or naive.

Quite the moral stance.

Both sides do it.

When the media pushes the idea that it's violence to say there are only two genders, I'm very glad that at least one platform will not be deciding what's true or not and therefore what we can see or not.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

It’s even worse when liberal media says “misleading”. That usually means mostly true but they found some technicality to try to say pretend it’s totally false instead of 90% true. This is only done on anything Trump says or that is pro-Trump in nature.
