He can put the package up for a vote, act in the national interest and maybe lose the speakership, or he can tow the line, be held responsible for what happens when (not if) Russia decides it wants a piece of NATO after Ukraine, and lose his speakership when the GQP gets reamed at the ballot box.

Either way, he’s SINO (one can almost hear him screeching “I’m a real boy!”) and Ukrainian aid is going to get passed.

Republicans want “to be united. They just have to be able to figure out how to do it.”

That one is funny.

"Republicans want to be united. They are just disunited about how to unite."

Great logic.

Good on Mike Johnson. Jesus would be proud.

Don't mind the Freedumb Caucus calling you a MINO (MAGA In Name Only).

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Mike doesn't seem to like this job much anyway, so this might be the least embarrassing and most noble way out.

Or will he listen to his godfather?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

When Thomas Masse is Mike’s opponent, we get ring-side seats at a cage match for mental midgets.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Mike doesn't seem to like this job much anyway,

Did he tell you?

so this might be the least embarrassing and most noble way out.

Not so sure about that one

Or will he listen to his godfather?

Who knows, but good to see that both support each other, that is how it should be.

Good on Mike Johnson. Jesus would be proud.

And more.

Don't mind the Freedumb Caucus calling you a MINO (MAGA In Name Only).

Yeah, libs are just horrible with the acronyms. Lol

There are enough votes to pass the Senate version if he just allows the full House to vote. It would also anger the former president, for reasons that appear to be to appease Putin.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Democratic votes are the only way for Speaker Neuman to keep his job. That, or MAGAs being too cowardly to go through another speaker roulette seven months before an election.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Well, it would be better to break up the bill, would make more sense, to make sure the bulk of that money goes to the border first and foremost and the rest can be allocated to Ukraine, and Israel that would make more sense.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

That, or MAGAs being too cowardly to go through another speaker roulette seven months before an election.

Not cowardly, they don't have the numbers, I like Johnson and always have, but he is in a very difficult position and has to thread this very carefully, I understand that and feel for the guy. Wish him the best.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Defiant and determined, House Speaker Mike Johnson pushed back Tuesday against mounting Republican anger over his proposed U.S. aid package for Ukraine, Israel and other allies, and rejected a call to step aside or risk a vote to oust him from office.

The problem the Twitter faction have, is that they don't have any power. They never had. MTG can complain all she wants, but Mike just needs to get the votes of the Democrats and he can pass these bills and they will shield him from being ousted.

I'm pretty sure that Mike was explaining these facts to Trump in Mar-a-Lago last weekend.

The border won't get a cent until Ukraine gets their funding.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

No money for Israel if no money for Ukraine.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

No money for Israel if no money for Ukraine.

No money for none of them..

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

And remember, all we are asking for is a vote. If the bills pass, they pass. If not, that’s life.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

The border won't get a cent until Ukraine gets their funding.

Then Biden should re-issue an executive order and seal it.

No money for Israel if no money for Ukraine.

And Israel will still continue their campaign.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

America should not give a penny to Israel or Ukraine, because they do not believe in Liberty Equality and Justice for All

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Then Biden should re-issue an executive order and seal it.

What does that even mean to you? Like close the border so no vehicles and people pass?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Also, legislation is more desirable than EOs which can more easily be undone by the next guy.

EO's don't work. Certainly Trump's border EO's didn't.

It needs a bill from Congress. Biden has said he will sign the previous bill, but Trump wants it as an election issue, so it went nowhere.

But it's not a priority compared to funding for Ukraine.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Yrral - the money actually goes mostly to American companies, some of which I am sure you invest in, however indirectly.

Where did you pick that criterial from? Thin air? Foreign policy isn't about morality, it's about power. Funding Ukraine is in the US's interests, thats why they should fund it.

If Ukraine falls, Putin will expand further. Ukraine is America's red line.

Come on Repubs, stop being Putin's Puppets and Trump's Turncoats...

Grow a pair for a change and start supporting democracy and freedom....

Liz Cheney has a bigger pair than all the male House Repubs put together...

These are foundations of the US Constitution

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Yrral

These are foundations of the US Constitution

Sure. But they aren't the foundations of US foreign policy.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

It could also include provisions to sanction Iran over its weekend attack on Israel, among others.

How about sanctioning Israel for 100 thousand plus civilian dead and wounded in Gaza and attacking an Iranian diplomatic mission first?

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Hey Mike, another one of your FELLOW REPUBS just said he'd support tossing you out on your can....how's that for "one team, one fight"?

Shortly after unveiling a plan to deliver foreign aid to key U.S. allies, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., forcibly came out against the House speaker's proposal in a closed-door conference meeting on Tuesday morning, announcing he would support an existing effort to oust Johnson.

Massie, along with conservative rabble-rouser Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., are calling on Johnson to step down from the top post. If he doesn't, they are threatening to call up a vote on the House floor that could supplant the speaker and send the chamber into another leadership vacuum.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/second-gop-lawmaker-backs-ousting-152444651.html

No doubt more FELLOW REPUBS from your own "Kook Caucus" team will join this effort to stab you in the back...

Better get start groveling to Dem Hakeem Jeffries if you want to keep your job...

If Ukraine falls, Putin will expand further. Ukraine is America's red line.

Wasn't Ukraine Russia's red line? It suddenly became an American one?

EO's don't work. Certainly Trump's border EO's didn't.

They do work, they worked for Biden, they worked for every President in history. Look, you can tell that in your country, please don’t tell me, it’s a bit insulting actually.

It needs a bill from Congress. Biden has said he will sign the previous bill, but Trump wants it as an election issue, so it went nowhere.

Again, I could care less what a pencil pusher in Washington that sits in an air-conditioned room says, I will listen to the border patrol agents and No, not the ones that tow this administration talking points because they have no choice.

You don’t live in the U.S. or not even American, so why would it concern you?

Most of Obama's EO's were reversed by Trump. Those obviously haven't worked. And Trump's border EO's didn't work in reducing border traffic.

I will listen to the border patrol agents

They wanted the bipartisan bill, but Trump denied them.

Exactly, now you just made my point for me, Biden reversed Trump's and he can un-reverse them, that is one of the unique powers of the President.

They wanted the bipartisan bill, but Trump denied them.

Not the ones that don't work under Biden. ThThey are going to speak out against their boss? No, they won't and most have families to feed, so they have to toe the line, regardless if they don't want to follow this crazy guy's toxic and destructive policies.

The border patrol endorsed the Senate border deal. Try answering that directly without referring to any other insults by them:

No.

Well, Kremlin said many times that it was, even if you say the opposite.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

The border patrol endorsed the Senate border deal.

They have NO CHOICE! Who signs their paychecks and who is head and leads the border patrol. Again, go and tell some stupid person who plays GTA, Minecraft, or Mario's cart all day, you might convince them, but not me. Geez. Lol

So they had no choice about the Senate bill but they did have a choice about all the other nonsense they post? It's a union. It has a complete freedom of speech.

Again, go and tell some stupid person who plays GTA, Minecraft, or Mario's cart all day, you might convince them, but not me. Geez. Lol

Well it sounds like you don't listen to anyone who's last name doesn't end with Rump, but we have to try as you are one of the resident MAGAs.

Well, Kremlin said many times that it was, even if you say the opposite.

We don't get to make red lines over economic or political issues of other countries. As the US has been forced to tolerate Cuba, so shall Russia tolerate Free Ukraine.

Yeah, except the EO's Biden reversed weren't working and inhumane. That's why he reversed them.

No, they didn't.

They said Ukraine joining NATO was a red line. But Ukraine wasn't even considering joining NATO. So, it was just a justification.

Don't blindly believe what the Kremlin says.

Yeah, except the EO's Biden reversed weren't working and inhumane.

All of Trump's EO's were working, if not, he didn't need to reverse them and if they are inhumane, then don't come or come in legally, my grandparents did, they suffered and went through hardship on my mother's side. What's wrong with following the rule of law?

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

I have very little use for anyone in the GOP at this point. Especially if they've ever backed Trump. Their moral compass is too wrong to be of any use.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

As the US has been forced to tolerate Cuba, so shall Russia tolerate Free Ukraine.

Well, at the very least, our pro-Russian friends could certainly understand the impulse to return historical American lands to the Americansky Mir.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

For you, but millions of us want him, if they thought someone in the GOP was better they would have voted for them, so far no one has come close to putting the country first other than Trump.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

We don't get to make red lines over economic or political issues of other countries.

In which parallel universe is that the case?

As the US has been forced to tolerate Cuba, so shall Russia tolerate Free Ukraine.

Well, at the very least, our pro-Russian friends could certainly understand the impulse to return historical American lands to the Americansky Mir.

Well, if Cuba was previously part of the US and Havana was a past US capital, then the "impulse" would be comparable indeed.

Nope, I think it was a bit different.
