For starters,

Talk about going over to the "Dark Side"....and it was all started by Darth Vader Trump...

I prefer "Less intelligent Voldemort" - all the sociopathy with none of the competence.

There is zero evidence of any election fraud, period. This is voter suppression because when urban and minority voters vote, the GOQ loses, period.

We now have documented evidence in the form of e-mails that 1 hour before announcing that Barr would step down, e-mails from Trump's assistant to the new acting AG to investigate election fraud which is not kosher. Not kosher at all.

Later on, Trump's chief of staff sends videos alleging that the Italians used satellites to change votes. Yeah, because Italy is a tech giant.

The AG shares the videos with his assistant who responds with 2 words: "pure insanity."

There is no backing for any of these claims and those backing it are making fools of themselves. I cannot help but wonder if there are not a large number of independents and former Republicans that are looking at this and saying "That is enough of you guys." I cannot help but wonder if there are not quite a few urban and minority voters who are looking at these efforts to suppress their voting rights are thinking "I will damn sure vote no matter what and I know who I am NOT voting for."

kinda sounds like what you called the people who said the China virus came from the Wuhan lab.

How'd that turn out for you?

This will eventually be another one of the famous "we never said that there was no fraud......" narratives once fraud is discovered.

Sore losers, mentally challenged GOP operatives and insane conspiracy theorists

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

strange. thats not what the Trump hating secretary of state said.

I believe what he actually said was that he opened an investigation into election procedures and discrepancies.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/georgia-investigating-fulton-county-drop-boxes-election

why yes, he did.

Star News analysis of drop box ballot transfer forms for absentee ballots deposited in drop boxes provided by Fulton County in response to an Open Records Request showed that 385 transfer forms out of an estimated 1,565 transfer forms Fulton County said should have been provided are missing," the article said after reporting that a Fulton County election official admitted "a few forms are missing" and that "some procedural paperwork may have been misplaced."

The dispute is one of several involving alleged voting discrepancies in the Peach State.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Trump lost because he's a wildly unpopular President. Not rocket science.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

so what do we have in Georgia?

Sore losers, mentally challenged GOP operatives and insane conspiracy theorists trying to overturn the results of a fair election. That's what you have in Georgia.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Can you point to any examples of voter fraud due to these restrictive measures not being in place?

I have done so, too many times now, if you go back to the archives, you will see them.

That's the same answer to all six of your questions

Of course not. Things like restricting voting hours, restricting drop boxes, restricting early registration, and removing people from mail-in ballot lists do nothing to increase security.

I always do, but Nice deflection, but in any case, and as I have stated above, the Dems don't like any of these proposals because it would hinder them to cheat in any possible way, so what do they do? They don't and won't admit to the allegations, they revert to the same usual retort that it's racist or that the GOP hates blacks when the Democrats only care about their votes and nothing else, look at the cities they govern. The race card is the only thing that they have a tight grip on that can help keep them in power and that is it, they can't run on their policies, so they need a deflection and have been doing so for over 60 years.

The GOP knows this, and part of their base is duped into believe it helps and the other part knows it does nothing but go along with it because restricting democracy helps their chances of winning.

Since when is asking for ID and not allowing Dead people to vote and to allow government workers both Republican and Democrat to watch equally and fairly and to verify your residence to confirm your identity, that is something every Democrat would want to ensure the voting rights and integrity of a free and honest election, but they don't, interesting.....

But make no mistake. The GOP, in its current state, is a dying animal.

If that were true, then why would a Hispanic mayor win in a county that Obama, Hillary and Biden won, why is it that Republicans are gaining more seats locally and in the gubernatorial races? Remember, the Dems are 5 seats away from losing the House and 3 of them are pretty much a done deal already. Pelosi is worried, I would be as well if I were her.

They know the younger generation do not support them,

and as more youngsters begin to vote they know it's just a matter of time.

And to that point, many young people then get older and after they leave and enter college and start to have a family their political leanings often change with paying a mortgage, saving money, paying taxes, many do turn conservative and ripen with age.

These restrictive measures will help the GOP in the short term, but in the end, they can't stop what's coming.

From the looks of it another repeat of 2011 for starters in 2022

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

so what do we have in Georgia?

we have ballots claimed to be from ballot drop boxes.

That have no paperwork showing they are from ballot drop boxes.

Isnt that a problem? As we also saw video of ballots in suitcases under a table being wheeled out and counted.

could the supposed ballots from ballot drop boxes that dont have paperwork be from somewhere/someone else? absolutely, even more so when the paperwork proving where they came from is missing.

kinda little more serious than a "rules violation" isnt it?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

you act as if people have never violated rules to commit fraud.

you also act as if an investigation into one thing turns into something else.

so there is now an "investigation", good.

we're investigating a rule violation

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

7 months later we find this.

Keep reading and...

A source with knowledge of the investigation cautioned to CNN that the probe "does not have any implications about fraudulent or missing ballots in Fulton any more than it meant that in the other smaller, more conservative counties," saying: "To be clear, we're investigating a rule violation" in Fulton County.

Oh well.

Perhaps GOP voters should face extra voting scrutiny. After all, they're the only ones who engage in voter fraud:

Which makes the results even more suspect in those states. Thanks for noticing.

Only the minds of Trump supporters, sore losers who can't just get over the fact they're boy lost.

Trump lost four of those states in his historical election defeat.

Which makes the results even more suspect in those states. Thanks for noticing.

I guess you missed the news that Trump failed to prove anything in court 60 times...or that Giuliani admitted before a judge that "we are not alleging fraud"...

*In a recent Pennsylvania federal case, Giuliani alleged “widespread, nationwide voter fraud” in his opening remarks. But under questioning from the judge, he retreated. “This is not a fraud case,” Giuliani later admitted. In the same case, *Trump lawyer Linda Kearns said explicitly that she is “not proceeding” on allegations of fraud.

You're welcome...

“New revelations that Fulton County is unable to produce all ballot drop box transfer documents will be investigated thoroughly, as we have with other counties that failed to follow Georgia rules and regulations regarding drop boxes. This cannot continue,” Raffensperger tweeted Monday.

7 months later we find this.

You can’t gerrymander a governor election- its statewide.

guess you’ve heard of gerrymandering too but weren’t told what it is.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Gerrymandering, Black. Have you heard of it?

Both sides do it.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/democrats-hate-gerrymanderingexcept-when-they-get-to-do-it

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Much less more than half being controlled by Republicans?

Gerrymandering, Black. Have you heard of it?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I have no idea who you're talking to, but not living in a particular state or even country does not prevent from forming an opinion or calling out scandalously dishonest words, actions or laws.

That is what I am doing.

I do not live in Honk Kong, but I am openly and vocally disgusted by the antidemocratic actions of its chinese leaders.

Same here

This is exactly the same thing. Open attacks on democracy need to be denounced at all times, be they in Japan, Russia, or Texas.

Sneaky, but nice attempt there, but anyway, we both are in agreement, but it has nothing to do with having clean and fair elections in the near future and the GOP is ensuring that and if the left doesn't like it, not much they can do about it. They don't want the right to tell them how to run their States and vice versa.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

The hyperbole here is telling and instructive. Requiring a person show ID to vote is the equivalent of "tyrants and dictators".... give me a break. Or as the President would say, "Come on, man!"

This is not an attack on democracy. I am still waiting to hear from anyone, anyone at all, on how these measures are in any way racist. It is a common complaint, but I have yet to see any evidence of it.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

well then move to a non Republican controlled state where they pass laws you like better.

More solutions to problems that don't exist to placate the Qanon crowd and subvert democracy.

The GOP despises the right to vote,

No, absolutely not true. They just want to make sure there are no more irregularities and making sure there is no chaos in the next election and how can you stop it, very easy.

-How to Stop Cheating! Outlaw Vote by Mail (Except Absentee Requests) In Person Voting with Polls Open for a Week.

-Picture Proof of Identity to Vote.

-Absentee Voting Allowed with Advanced Request.

-Voter Registration Required at Least a Week before Polls Open.

-Proof of Citizenship, and Proof of Residency to Register.

-Paper Ballots with Strict Chain of Custody.

-3rd Party Audit and Certification of Vote Counting Equipment.

-Monitored Vote Counting by Both Parties.

-Tie Voter Registration to County Death Certificates so Dead Removed Immediately from Rolls.

-Send Voter Confirmation Mail Once a Year to Make Sure Voters are at Current Address.

-If they Moved Out of the County their Registration is Immediately Cancelled.

-Tie Registration to Social Security Number so States can Check to Ensure People are NOT registered in multiple locations.

So they want everyone to vote, they just want it down honestly and fairly and if all these provisions are met, we will never have any problems in future elections and zero dispute on both sides and it protects everyone. Every Democrat should be on board with this, then no one can point fingers and accuse the other of cheating.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Im really curious. If everyone is on team liberal

Let me stop you right there.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Im really curious. If everyone is on team liberal and you have this huge mandate for all this progressive change...why are there even Republican controlled states at all? how can these states pass these laws? Much less more than half being controlled by Republicans?

You blame Joe Manchin, a Democrat, for all your problems in not agreeing to the far left agenda. His constituents are 70% Trump voters, its a miracle Manchin even exists in office at all.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

More solutions to problems that don't exist to placate the Qanon crowd and subvert democracy.

The GOP despises the right to vote, and loathes the idea of the people's will deciding who will be elected. That's why they want to be able to send "alternative electors" if the people vote "the wrong way".

6 ( +7 / -1 )

well then move to a non Republican controlled state where they pass laws you like better.

At least they passed laws. States like PA just "changed the rules" right before the election, using COVID as cover to make things as much in their favor as they could.

These states have passed laws. If the laws are not constitutional, then they will be challenged and overturned. Unlike the rules the Dems put in place that were later found to be illegal, but only quietly and after the election, of course.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Talk about going over to the "Dark Side"....and it was all started by Darth Vader Trump...

The former Republican, now Fascist Insurrectionist Party, has given up all pretense of supporting democracy and the individual rights and freedoms outlined in our Constitution - they are now pure autocrats and fully support authoritarianism.

They are no different from Xi, Putin, MBS, Kim, The Mullahs, and all the other tyrants and dictators that thwart the will of the people....and remain in power through coercion and corruption...

They're doing Putin's and Xi's work for them...

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Good.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

these common sense rules

There's absolutely nothing "common sense" about shortening voting hours, limiting ballot drop-box use or allowing a Republican-controlled state agency to take over local voting operations. Pure and simple disenfranchisement.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I’ve no issue with voter ID requirements.

have big issues with what Senator Angus King refers to here.

There are two things going on with voting rights. One is getting a lot of publicity, the other not so much. The publicity is about things like limiting absentee ballots and the early voting and all of those kinds of things,” King said.

“The other piece, though, that isn’t being talked about is, a lot of states are considering changes that the legislature could essentially overturn the results of an election in their state,” King added.

Citing Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s (R) refusal to buy into baseless allegations of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election, King said that he is concerned about how GOP-led legislatures would take advantage if the sweeping voting rights bill is passed without any modifications.

“I’m worried that they’re going to turn that over and say, OK, a Republican legislature can say, we think there was fraud in Fulton County, and, therefore, we’re going to certify a different set of electors,” King said. “That’s really dangerous.”

Look at a red/blue county map of Georgia and try to say with a straight face that this isn’t about taking local gerrymandering National

1 ( +2 / -1 )

these common sense rules apply to all, regardless of color.

please dont try to tell me that Black people dont have the ability to get a picture ID.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

It's the only way they can win besides all of the gerrymandering they love to do. It's like the Civil Wall all over again where you've got a very angry minority of the country rising up to do battle against the majority.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

And when they lose again what excuses will they have?

Oh don't worry about that, I'm sure they will find new conspiracy theories about ballots coming in from remote countries and dead dicactors helping to hack voting systems. You can do absolutely anything when you have no shame or morals.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

GdTokyo; question for you. How do any of these measures surpress minority voting? They are applied equally to all people. If the laws said for example, "black people need ID to vote but whites don't" then I could see your point. Unless you think that members of minority communities are somehow incapable of getting ID or registering to vote...

These measures seem very minor and common sense.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

And when they lose again what excuses will they have?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

One more time, there is zero evidence of organized wide-spread voter fraud: zilch, zip, nada, nil, none and no one has provided any. Voter fraud is not a thing.

This is a solution in search of a problem. Unless the problem is that your party lost.

These are voter suppression efforts. Specifically minority voter suppression efforts. Because when minorities and urban voters vote, Republicans lose.

It really is that simple.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Republicans know they can't win elections unless they stop people from voting. Appaling, disgusting, anti-democratic. History will not look fondly upon the modern GOP.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

About time. These are basic measures, that many third world countries already employ. This is a positive step against preventing another highly questionable result as in 2020.
