Oh well there's a shocker.

Crime of the century. Leaking relevant national secrets in a time of war. He deserves life without parole and only because I know it is worse than death.
garymalmgren
OK, so he released the documents on a gaming sight (allegedly).
I can see that.
But, after the Chelsea Manning debacle, how on earth did a 21-year-old member of the U.S. Air National Guard, get his hands on top secret documents.
Doesn't the US Defence Department have any security?
bass4funk
Great news! Now how long do we have to wait until this happens again?

Seems like he is emotionally and socially lacking skills and he is releasing the documents to impress his online contacts. He might not have fully realized what would happen with his actions or he will spend many decades in prison. Better vetting systems.

In the end I suspect more people that Mr. Teixeira are going to jail. This looks like a command failure.

Went by Discord name 'Jack the Dripper' - and was the leader of the anti-government 'Thug Shaker Central' chat room.
Putin is receiving chemo for cancer with his top general planning to 'throw' the war while he undergoes treatment, according to wild rumor detailed in the leaked US documents.

A love of guns, racist memes and video games. Says a lot and I can bet he thinks he's an all-American red-blooded patriot fighting against the tyranny of the government and the erosion of his way of life. In truth, he's just another crackpot traitor filled with hate. No plea bargains, just a max sentence.

So when I was active the Air Force was real big on what they called a "No Lone Zone", meaning a classified space where it was not permitted for one person to be there alone. The idea was that someone would not attempt to compromise classified material if there was a witness along. Having a minimum of two people in a space kept everyone honest. I am curious if my buds at the Chair Force still enforce this? And why was someone of such a low rank anywhere near Top Secret? If they were on a cleaning crew did they have an escort or was such a low rank actually cleared for TS ?
wallace
He changed to working more night shifts with fewer people around.

They don't generally put 40 year olds into combat. I do wonder why someone this young was in the intelligence division, though. Presumably the rank and file have much less access.

Anti-war and pro gun describes the mush that these right wing idiots have for a brain!!!
This idiot will spend a long time in prison, but there are plenty of them out there.
The right wing cult is the biggest threat to America today.
Blacklabel
Hey they actually can find leakers….when they want to.
stormcrow
He'll have a military trial, won't he?
If it is the military, they will give him either the rope or a lengthy prison sentence.
Desert Tortoise
Crime of the century.
I don't think so. Wikileaks, Ana Montes and Aldrich Aimes all have this beat.

Or in other words, a typical young MAGA warrior...
At least he had the courage to put a uniform on - most of these MAGA racist gun nutters are too scared leave their mother's basement...
Perhaps he'll copy his mentor with a defense of "I declassified it all in my mind"...
Good luck with that...

Jack Douglas Teixeira is no Chelsea Manning or Edward Snowden.

Do you really think there aren’t maga idiots in Massachusetts?
Or do you speculate he is really a Soros backed Antifa liberal?
Desert Tortoise
Some of it is. Hell, you even have MAGAotts in California. Lots of them where I live in what I call Kern County Mississippi, home of the Buck Owens sound.
Cards fan
Because there can't possibly be a Trump supporter from Massachusetts, right?
Blacklabel
well Chicago is supposedly MAGA country too when it’s speculation time, so who knows.
speculate away. Who he supports politically is irrelevant. Holding people accountable who were in charge to prevent this from being possible? That’s relevant.

It is not believable that a 21-year-old kid in the national guard is responsible for leaking the info. He is obviously a patsy who has been set up.
bass4funk
More than the libs thought, a lot more.
So if you are black and a Trump supporter or a liberal that makes you what?
bass4funk
Without a doubt, this guy is the "fall guy." The bad part is that nothing will get done about it and none of the top senior officials will get punished for this. Absolutely disgusting!
Mocheake
Why is it not believable? At 21, I had a secret clearance with access to loads of highly sensitive classified documents and there were people my age I worked with who had top secret clearances. It was harder in the past to leak that number of documents because there were no cell phones or Internet back when I was in the service. It was mainly done by passing physical documents or copying them to film but now you can pass secrets by the dozens just by clicking a mouse on your computer.
TaiwanIsNotChina
This leak is in a time of war and could effect the outcome. I think that makes this much worse.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Is he going to use the excuse that his Discord was hacked?
sunfunbun
Man, another narrative from you. Get real with real information, once in awhile...
This right wing 21 year old is not a fall guy, he's the guy they believe leaked the information. His superiors are not going to get off easily as a military chain of command says they are responsible, but make no mistake the actual culprit is this person and he's not just a fall guy.
bass4funk
Right wing? Lol! Anyway, the real problem is coming from senior officials that haven’t learned anything from what Snowden and Manning did, this guy is the best fall guy and will shield all of the problems that our inept government has shown it to be.
The actual culprit is our government for bungling once again something that should never, ever happen, something needs to change and currently how we keep secrets is just not working because we have allowed way too many people access to documents that shouldn’t have them, that’s on them, not this guy ultimately, he’s the ultimate scapegoat for a much larger problem and I don’t see our military senior officials doing anything about it.
