How many people committing a screw up of this magnitude on Friday, still have a job on Monday?

3 ( +7 / -4 )

How can someone make a complete mockery of the FBI and the Justice Department, allow classified material to be hacked on an unprotected private server in order to hide emails and still be allowed to run for president?

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

In the week before an election, we're now going to get daily 'updates' in investigation about nothing.

I guess this is good for the kids out there, who will now understand what the following two words mean:

Ken Starr.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Hillary makes Watergate looks like peanut from "HumaWeinergate", perjury of lying to congress, the corrupted activities of Clinton foundation, and F.B.I. revisiting HRC's home cooking server, and recently Loretta Lynch took the fifth regarding Iran's payment authorized by white house! Regardless the outcome of the election, Hillary will be under investigation and in spite of allegedly unlawful cover up by executive power branches....the outcome will be nasty as HRC. Obama's pardon before conviction? HRC pardons herself? HRC got impeached as her husband that make two impeached amigos in the white house?....These epeculations truly make America looks like a "banana republic", and all credited to the corrupted & greedy machine of The Clintons.

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

@Bgood41 - You bring up an interesting point.

Watergate was nothing compared to what has been done by members of both political parties over the past couple of decades. Each party, however, wants to excuse "their guy/their gal".

The Watergate investigation and follow up was a true bipartisan effort - this is something we see from neither political party these days.

I would really like to see the introduction of a viable 3rd Party into the U.S. political system, however I do not believe the 2 parties in power would allow this to happen. This is one case where they would work in a bi-partisan effort to obstruct a meaningful 3rd Party from coming into existence.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

weinergate. they gotta make a movie.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

So many negative headlines about Hillary recently. Its not fair.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

It was not immediately clear exactly how many emails have been recovered or what significance, if any, they might have.

Sigh. An unknown number of emails with unknown contents... is there any classified info here? Who knows?! Have any laws been broken? No idea!

And yet, with absolutely no idea if there is anything incriminating here at all, the FBI sees fit to break its policy on not commenting on ongoing investigations by announcing that - a week before the election - that that, well, they are investigating something which may or may not turn out to be absolutely nothing at all. (We won't find out until after the election!)

Awesome.

This is, of course, the biggest scandal since Watergate - bigger, even - because we all have such great sense of proportionality. But, hey, this is Crooked Hillary we are talking about here, so she must be guilty of something.... right? I'm sure that smoking gun is just around the corner.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

So many negative headlines about Hillary recently. Its not fair.

If she loses, this will prove the election is rigged.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

"So many negative headlines about Hillary recently. Its not fair."

Yeah, she really doesn't need all this aggravation, lol.

But none of this makes any difference at this point. Hillary will not be indicted before the election, she will squeak out an Electoral College victory ( thanks California and New York ) and we will be in deep doo doo. sigh

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Poor America. Such a tough choice: a lying, misogynist, racist, dangerous, unpredictable narcissist (Trump), or a woman who used the wrong email (Hillary).

Sad!

So many negative headlines about Hillary

LOL, so writing about truth hits a nerve now does it?

I actually did. I was poking fun at Hillary believers.

Nice recovery ;)

Don't worry, I believe you. I really do.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

This is just so much fun watching the shrill shills for Hill at MSDNC get their panties in a ruffle over this.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Foolish to assume the FBI is not investigating both candidates simultaneously. Can't wait to see the glib comments by the Trumpers when the FBI's report on Trump's Russian secrets hits the fan. Then we will be back to "this election is rigged" square one like, oh, a week or two ago.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

"....or a woman who used the wrong email (Hillary)."

Wrong. The woman is Abedin, if you read the story. And why isn't Abedin in front of the microphones? She's disappeared since Friday, which is odd since her and her husband are Ground Zero in this latest scandal. Her refusal to comment kInda deepens the mystery, and adds fuel to the fire....all the better for Trump.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Funny, Hillary worked so hard to "wipe" her servers clean, and have her assistance destroy their computers and Blackberries with hammers (literally), and yet one laptop used by her personal assistant escaped the purge. 650,000 emails, an impressive amount

Too bad for Bernie that this story didn't come out before the primaries.

Foolish to assume the FBI is not investigating both candidates simultaneously.

The FBI is always investigating politicians, it is one of the few organizations which is more or less immune to the bribes and threats which other agencies must endure. There are no less than 5 separate FBI field offices investigating Hillary, and her husband's foundation. Amazing how the Clintons can become worth hundreds of millions of dollars without investing in the stock market, dealing in real estate, or providing any real goods or services. It appears that they "earn" their money by peddling their influence, at more than a little cost to the taxpayers.

If the FBI had anything on Trump, the would have aired it by now, and they won't hesitate to air it in the case he wins the election. And Hilary looks like she faces the renewed possibility of indictment even if she wins. The FBI would not reopen the case without reasonable cause, especially if Hillary had as good a chance of winning as she has.

Once again, it is too bad for Bernie that he didn't win the nomination. Loony liberal as he was, he had far less skeletons in his closet than Hillary.

Apparently they sat on this Clinton email story for weeks so I wouldn't rush to conclusions like that.

The FBI wouldnt break with precedent unless they had some unignorable violations of the law. I think even the die hard hillary fans know this, hence the desperation with which they are reacting. Hillary, whether she wins or loses the election, is done.

With all the baggage shes carrying she should never have run. She should at least have pulled out months ago and spared the US the trauma shes going to put it through. An alternative candidate would most probably be way ahead of trump in the polls right now. But its not in hillarys nature to serve the greater good. she serves only her own ambition.

"So many negative headlines about Hillary recently. Its not fair"

Well said! Why should the Clintons every be subjected to the law!

Funniest thing I`ve read all week!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

jeffreydomer, yes, its hilarious. the hillary fanboys cannot fathom why anyone would not want to just ignore the truth or refuse to believe it. Fascism is indeed on the rise.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

HIllary's campaign is over. ANd she can screech and scream and blame, Trump, right-wing conspiracies, the Russians, the man in the moon - but she has NOBODY to blame but herself.

Insane carelessness. Podesta and Huma etc - just unbelievable. Not a brain between them.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

but regarding the donna brazile controversy, I think we can rely on hillary to explain those emails leaking debate questions to her ahead of time and why she didnt report it. After all, hillary has such a stellar track record re emails, honesty, etc etc. Haha!

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

The FBI wouldnt break with precedent unless they had some unignorable violations of the law.

That or any of a dozen other reasons.

Well said! Why should the Clintons every be subjected to the law!

Heh, another Republican who doesn't like it when the things they say are said back to them!

HIllary's campaign is over.

Maybe. But if she wins, I'm going to laugh pretty hard.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

oh, hillary may "win" but shes finished, regardless.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

@Outrider (5:35 PM, JST) - I beg to differ. Not MAY, but WILL ! Stronger together ! HRC 2016 ! ! !

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Kurobane, possibly. But then what? Zero credibility, zero trust among all but the blindly loyal hillary fans. And more than likely ongoing criminal investigations into her .

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

She was in town last night and I just couldn't make it out to see her ! (Da** it!) FBI director Comey has said that his agency is "resolutely apolitical" Yeah, right, and Pope Francis has quit praying ! He failed to use common sense in deciding to announce that they (FBI) had discovered new information. Guys please read the letter he wrote to members of Congress. It even states that they ARE NOT SURE that the e-mails have anything to do with the previous case. HO HILLARY ! ! !

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

shes done.

I think we would all be better off if they just went ahead and indicted Hillary. Then all the people who will vote for her can confront their own cynicism and hypocrisy.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Hillary's composed. She'll never choke. No matter how big this Weiner thing is.

According to a Gallup poll fewer than 3 of 10 Americans trust government to do the right thing, and the years since 2007 are “the longest period of low trust in government in more than 50 years.”

The FBI doesn't know much more about the new data than what we know - they only just got started with these recently.

It may come to something; it may come to nothing - nobody knows yet for some time to come.

What's debatable is whether an announcement about this --especially without much information-- so close to a contentious election is the prudent thing to do. It's been long-standing policy for the FBI to remain apolitical by not putting itself in the middle of an election one way or another, unless they already have something concrete to present.

So it's kinda ironic that FBI Director Comey is arguably violating his office's long-standing policy as he investigates Hillary's violating her office's long-standing policy.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

What's debatable is whether an announcement about this --especially without much information-- so close to a contentious election is the prudent thing to do.

The Clinton penchant for deception and secrecy bears much of the blame for this.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Lostrune, more than likely the unprecedented nature of this means there's a lot of bad shit on Hillary.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

"So many negative headlines about Hillary recently. Its not fair" yes the election is rigged, the FBI is in the pockets of Trump, Hillary will sue every FBI agent , Trump conspiracy theorist before the election you just wait, its NOT FAIR!!

Trump's new campaign slogan: Make America Great Again or Make America Venezuela

Trump has more than once thanked Comey, Weiner and "huma" [Abedin]. Trump and his cronies have also toned down their whining of "rigged election" before the game's over--a familiar apparatchi struugle technic. Seven days to go. What an election.

SerranoNOV. 01, 2016 - 07:16PM JST

Oh...

What are other Fox pundits saying, I wonder. Let's see, here's Judge Jeanine Pirro:

"One of the most revered agencies in our nation's history--now seen as putting its finger on the scales of justice--should not now be front and center. You know I support Donald Trump and want him to win, but whether it's Hillary Clinton or anyone else, Comey's actions violate not only longstanding Justice Department policy...but the most fundamental rules of fairness and impartiality." http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/10/30/judge-jeanine-pirro-opening-statement-jim-comey-announcement-fbi-hillary-clinton-disgrace

Isn't that interesting?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Simon... sigh... you left out the part where Jeanine said Comey should have done this months ago. Isn't that interesting? She knows Comey had no choice here.

You really still think Hillary is the better choice at this point? Wow...

Hilarious that a sleaze like Holder is accusing Comey of abusing public trust. What is he supposed to know of 'public trust'? I swear, you can't make this stuff up! Amerika... what would the world do without such a great source of humor. Thanks!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

But he didn't do it months ago, and went on to "disgrace and politicise the FBI." You left out that part. She's basically slamming the man. Attempts to spin it otherwise are futile.

You really still think Hillary is the better choice at this point? Wow...

Stuff people cough up and spit down the toilet would be a better choice than Trump.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Comey deserves some slamming, no question about that, but he was correct in re-opening this criminal investigation on Crooked Hillary. This is where I and Judge Jeanine disagree. Try to understand she was the target of some last minute investigation as she was running for New York attorney general.

HRC 2016 ! ! !

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think it’s interesting to note the Administration’s reaction to the FBI’s announcement that it was reopening the investigation.

Amid wide spread condemnation of Comey from prominent Democrats the White House announced, in a daily press briefing, that President Obama  “continues to have confidence in his (Comey’s) ability to do his job,” and that the President  “doesn’t believe Director Comey is trying to influence the outcome of an election,”

In the statement Director Comey was praised as “a man of integrity and character and principle,” and  “somebody who’s had a distinguished legal career that was rooted (in the fact) that his political views don’t interfere with his responsibilities as an attorney or a law enforcement officer.”

So as things settle a little it appears that the Obama Administration has come down squarely on the side of the FBI and especially Director Comey. I wonder what that portends. Could this be a “writing on the wall” moment? It might be interesting to see if the “sinking ship” analogy comes into play.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You don't have to think Comey was trying to influence the election. The fact is he did, and he did something that's typically not done. Looking back, he also offered up his own investigation for Republicans to scrutinize, something else that isn't typically done.

I think he's playing "cover my ass" to an extreme and everything else is secondary.

There's a lot of that going around lately. Interesting times to say the least.

Comey deserves some slamming, no question about that, but he was correct in re-opening this criminal investigation on Crooked Hillary. This is where I and Judge Jeanine disagree.

Look, it's Newt Gingrich now as well:

We should not be forced to vote with ten thousand or more emails still hidden by the FBI. John Podesta and Hillary Clinton are right.

And Trump supporter and former Congressman Joe Walsh:

“What he [Comey] just did 11 days [before] the election is wrong and unfair to Hillary.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Lostrune, more than likely the unprecedented nature of this means there's a lot of bad shit on Hillary.

Nobody knows yet. Even the FBI has admitted that all they've been doing so far is sorting out the emails - which ones are relevant to Hillary and which ones are not relevant to Hillary (since it's Weiner's device, it stands to reason most of these will be related to Weiner and not Hillary), and of those which ones are duplicates from prior investigations. Nobody has really scrutinized the emails yet - all they've been doing so far is categorizing.

FBI director Comey is not violating law. Like the US State Dept. with Hillary, he may be violating his office's policy - but policy is not law. There are consequences for violating work policy, but when it's not law, it's not legal consequences. (Perjury though has legal consequences, but that's separate from violating work policy and has to be proven in the courts beyond reasonable doubt.)

Many people in this election are making the mistake of criminalizing politics that they don't agree with. Just because one doesn't agree with something political, doesn't necessarily mean it's a criminal activity.

Bgood41 How will you describe for Trump Foundation if you have described Clinton Foundation as corrupt? Trump Foundation was only one entrance and no exit. Trump Foundation was for tax evasion purpose but nothing else and no donation records.

Poor Yanks don't have other choice and they have to choose one from two bad candidates. Hillary Clinton had used her own private server but she wasn’t violating the law. Also she didn't leak classified Government's documents to enemy states. On other hand, Donald Trump was temperamental nut, racist, greedy and sexual pervert.

Donald Trump had 6 times declared Bankruptcy protection and not 4 times as journalists’ reported. The total of his bankruptcy was worth $ 5.4 billions. That is the way Donald Trump was making his money. Also he was not as wealthy as he claimed to be. Donald Trump wasn’t worth $ 10 billions as he told and the information was according to Forbes and Money Magazine. Forbes and other financial experts have estimated Donald Trump’s fortune is worth between $ 2.7 and $ 3 billions. If Donald Trump has run and manage US’ economy and international and domestic affair like he run and mange his Companies and then America will be bankrupt within a year. If Trump deported Mexicans and Latinos laborers and then US economy will be falling like dead bird falling from sky. Donald Trump was wealthy billionaire today because he used dirty business methods and not because of he was very good in business. He declared bankruptcy 6 times total of $ 5.4 billions but his net worth is only $ 3 billions.

I think Hillary Clinton is more suitable for President than Donald Trump. Donald Trump will be corrupt President in White House. Donald Trump said “I don’t need money and I’m filthy rich”. That kind of man is greedier than anyone who said “I’m greedy and I want money more than anybody”.

Perhaps FBI boss Comey wants Donald Trump in White House instead of Hillary Clinton. I believe the reopening of Clinton email saga was Comey has done it with purpose and trying to influence Election out come. It was not coincide with Election. FBI boss Comey’s integration is questionable and he must resign from duty. I believed FBI will declare the Clinton email case is closed again and the FBI found nothing after Election was finished.
