This is from a Public Television web site.

are they "randomly snatching civilians" or are they snatching Antifa rioters who up to now enjoyed their anonymity behind their hoodies and masks?

Probably both but the correct answer should be “neither”.

lol As we all should be, we should all stand up against Fascism, not stand for it. Its really interesting you think the mayor of Portland wants violence in his city, that doesn't even make sense. Does it?

The mayor may not want violence, but what is he doing, the people are getting out of control violence is spreading throughout the country particularly in Washington state, New York and the city of Portland and without the police how do these liberals think that they can quell the unrest? So if you go by that, then what is one to think? Definitely no one is going to think that the mayor wants peace.

*The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the United States Congress from enacting legislation that would abridge the right of the people to assemble *peaceably.

Agreed. As long as you protest peacefully, it is your constitutional right and no one can take that away and no one can silence you and the fact that the police are the people that enforce the laws and safeguard our constitutional rights to do so is more important than people wanting to defund the police and to have the rest of us become victims to the anarchist mob rule.

so basically you are crying that the wrong law enforcement group is arresting these lawbreakers?

lol I'm not crying. I'm telling you its garbage to have the CBP doing law enforcement activities in a city hundreds of miles away from the border.

The mayor of Portland is a known Antifa supporter, not like he will let his police force arrest anyone.

No one was held indefinitely and law enforcement is allowed to have unmarked vehicles.

Ahh, but that's not what the article says. They're also required to identify themselves, which they didn't. And if they're detaining, or holding someone against their will, they're supposed to read their Miranda rights. That didn't happen.

are the same ones cheering on these shady federal agents randomly snatching civilians off the street in van

No one was held indefinitely and law enforcement is allowed to have unmarked vehicles. Probably better based on all the marked police cars that Antifa/BLM burned and threw Molotov cocktails at.

Law and order.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the United States Congress from enacting legislation that would abridge the right of the people to assemble peaceably.

lol So what? Even if you're not peacefully protesting, CBP shouldn't be arresting people in Portland. CBP shouldn't be grabbing people and putting them into unmarked vans and holding them indefinitely. There is 0 excuse for what this administration is doing.

They can protest anything they want, doesn’t matter if you agree with it.

If your form of protesting something is to complain about it on JT knock yourself out.

If you want to take to the streets to protest school opening or masks, bravo. If a black truck pulls up and takes you away, well that’s just the American way too right?

Oh like their government forcing them to stay at home, closing schools for their children and enforcing mandatory masks if they dare to leave their home? Like that kind of erosion of liberty?

Lolololol the Constitution protects you from illegal detainments, searches and seizures, it says nothing about wearing about wearing masks. Your inconvenience isn't oppression.

Comparing these illegal detainments to being told to wear a mask is comically absurd.

If so why they starting fires and destroying public and private property, what is the relation to their "liberty"- is this a "right" now?

Seems to me they are protesting the erosion of their liberty by a tyrannical government.

-10 ( +4 / -14 )

so why are there large groups of people "protesting" at 2am on a weekday?

what are they "protesting" about while setting fires and committing violence?

Seems to me they are protesting the erosion of their liberty by a tyrannical government. As is their constitutional right. Seems pretty patriotic to me, I thought you were all about that. Does your patriotism turn off after 2am or on weekdays?

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement that its agents had information indicating the person in the video was suspected of

Smuggling, possession of contraband, people trafficking? If not, how can they legally arrest someone?

For some reason I cannot understand the meaning of the last sentence.

Quote: This version corrects that chanting about burning happened at police station, not federal courthouse.

The same trump supporters that cry about having their "civil liberties" taken away by being asked to wear masks while outside and patronizing businesses, are the same ones cheering on these shady federal agents randomly snatching civilians off the street in vans and taking them who knows where to do who knows what.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

@vanessa, I concur!

Americans think the love of freedom is ingrained in their DNA. They think America cannot become as Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia by default. They are dead wrong. The number of police agencies we have is in itself a problem but several have been acting as secret police for decades. Some Americans actually think "no knock raids" are normal and necessary. They are neither. They are Gestapo-esque. Good on Mayor Ted Wheeler for standing up to these American Nazis.

People I know in Portland, who are button down shirt and slacks, white collar workers, are reporting that it's the police and feds who are causing the violence.

But it gets worse. Federal agents donning camouflage and driving unmarked vans have been detaining protesters around the city’s downtown area since at least July 14. Stories about the arrests have been corroborated by multiple people, as well as videos showing the officers arresting protesters without explanation, also shoving them into unmarked cars, and driving off.

You know what the most bizarre and hypocritical thing about these federal government forces being used in local law enforcement?

Ask any pro-Trump gun nut why they keep their arsenal full of assault weapons in their basement - and they'll tell you its to keep the "gubment" from coming to take their guns....

You know, the Deep State federal agents that fly in those black helicopters...

The same folks Trump is sending in to Portland...who they fully support...

Just one of the many crazy contradictory, bewildering, conflicting examples of Trump-world...
