These guys aren't just skinheads, they're boneheads. Do they really believe that the Secret Service will allow any President to be harmed, be it Bush or Obama?
Keep crawling out of the woodwork, little men; every last one of you jerks will get taken down.
USAFdude
Sheesh, just what we don't need, the domestic version of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
rjd_jr
Well don't forget, one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on U.S. soil was committed not by Middle Easterners, but a homegrown extremist with ties to white supremacist organizations. Again, I have been mocked for predicting these very lunatics would come out of the woodwork to threaten Obama. Very scary and very unfortunate, but very fortunate they caught these guys. Even the secret service must have their hands full with nutters in the U.S. threatening everyone in sight.
USAFdude
rjd - I don't mock you at all. Tragically, this radical element does exist in the US. But, it's up to us good Americans to smoke out these jerks and turn them in to the authorities. And so we shall.

Not surptised at all. < :-)

From a couple of small towns in Arkansas and Tennessee that nobody has ever heard of. I am not going to say anything to insult the people of those towns and states, just point out that they would be in the "Real America" and "Pro-America" part of the country. I have a hunch that after this incident, we might suddenly stop hearing those two terms from Ms. Palin and her party. Not quite the image she was trying to project.
OssanULTRA
What a pair of retards.
Badsey
saw the McCain cavalcade on I95 going south to Richmond, VA today. 2 blackhawks followed also.
-it doesn't take much as history proves.
SezWho2
I agree that this was not the quite the image she was trying to project. I can't say that this wasn't the sentiment she was trying to cultivate, however.
Certain elements within the Republican party have been trying to harness the hatred and fear within America for a lot longer than the last 8 years. In the last 8 years they have been quite successful at it. Palin, who has little to offer on her own, strikes me as being an engine to keep those feelings at the boil.
goodDonkey
I would hate to see any act of violence happen to McCain or Obama. You can add Biden and Palin to that list also. Running for the top spots should not be dangerous. I did hear that the two posed no danger because they were not resourceful enough. I am very critical of "the other party" but in reality I do have respect for them. They are on a grueling schedule day in and day out. They should have no concerns for their safety. Apparently there has been no threat rise to the level that should cause serious concern so far.
jwills79
I am glad stuff like this is happening now. Not because I want to see someone killed but to flush out all the trash and in the closet racists. It also hopefully open the eyes of those idiots who have been denying minorities and others have it easy.
Maybe we can begin to truly address these issues in an adult civilized manner.
jwills79
Oops, I mean denying they have a hard to in the US.
skipthesong
I think we are going to see a lot of this in the near future.
this is the one area where I want Obama, more than I want any other independent. Due to him being both, I am hoping he can have the galls to have all these groups come out, get a dialog going, and see what the hell the problems are and how we get past them.
What these idiots don't get is that its not just them that are going to get hit for this, they are going to take all the people their color down with them.
timorborder
Unfortunately, every nutjob in the US probably sees themselves as the next John Wilkes Booth because of the strong possibility that America is going to elect its first (half) African-American President. As such, things are going to become very busy for the Secret Service, etc.
With regard to these skinheads, they seem to have their feet firmly planted in the realm of fantasy. Knocking off so many people by beheading them is so outrageous (and so unrealistic) that it does not need to be commented on. At the same time, however, I hope the feds go after these people (and their associates) and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. I am think life in prison in a federal prison. Let's face it at 18 and 20 years old, the current inmates will probably welcome them with open arms.
RakishGadfly
Throw 'em in Gitmo!
Alphaape
Sez, No where does it say that these two guys are Repbulicans. I am from Arkansas and I can tell you that most of the "Klan types" normally have voted Democrat in the past. After all when those organizations first started, it was becuase the Democrats were against the northern Repbulicans for their belief in treating Blacks in the south with equality. All during the Civil Rights era, those sherif deputies that were using the fire hoses were Democrats and Southern Governors such as Orvile Fabus (Arkansas), George Wallce (Alabama) and others were from the Democratic party. Also, it is the "Blue Collar" Dems that Hillary won (i.e. the ones that these guys if they had any sense of being registered to vote would fall in that category).
Whatever their political party (if any) this is still a scary report. Not so much about going after Obama (they would never get close enough) but the fact that they were willing to randomly shoot up a high school and kill innocents purely because of their race. Sad indeed.
RakishGadfly
Alphaape;
It is good that you nobly avoid partisan politics with one sentence confirming (rightly) that there is no proof they are Republicans, but the entire papargaph afterwards trying to prove that most Arkansas rednecks are Democrats kinda cuts into the credibility of that statement, don't you think?
bamboohat
the headline reads:
which makes it sound like some successful FBI undercover operation that unearthed a dastardly plot.
then in the article, we find out:
Which sounds like some deputy arrested a couple of barely out of high school redneck hillbillyies (18 and 20 y/o) and turned 'em over to the feds
Then we see their excruciatingly thought out and resourceful plan:
Basicall it boils down to a couple of kids, with an illegal weapon, and some half baked idea of assasinating the senator, dukes of hazards style.
Um, yea.
bushlover
White supremacists at 18 and 20? I'd start looking for their parents and teachers to find out where these problemed children came from. ... and maybe exterminate that part of the gene pool before they make the human race implode.
Statistician
America is full of right wing 'nutters' like these.
Alphaape
Rakish, Not all of them are Dems. A lot of people throught the nation thought that Mike Huckabee (Rep.) would also be classified as an "Arkansas Redneck" too.
What is really telling if you know the region is that the city of West Helena is deep in what would be called the Mississippi Delta region. The city has a majority black poplulation. If you were to look at one of those old time movies with a lawyer in a southern town, you would see West Helena. Yes Blacks are in the majority, and I believe that they have a Black mayor, but it is still the big farm land owners (mostly white) and the county quorum court (who actually controls the purse strings for the money funding) that really controls things.
So, white guys who may feel that the world is changing too fast are probably just really loosers on their own. I still have friends who live in the region and they will tell you that even with a majority black population, it is the land owners (mostly white) that still control the shots, so if these guys felt like things were changing too fast, I would say that they were just losers on their own. If they want things to stay the same, all they had to do was just stay at home in their own area.
Alphaape
Rakish, To further add, many people will try to associate the Republicans with this (i.e. they were true blue republicans) but my post was to show that the birth of the Klan and a lot of these organizations had their roots in the Democratic party. Like I said, I don't know what party these guys belonged to (if they did) but I hope that people will not just try to lump them in one party.
marvenp
The ironic thing is that these are EXACTLY the kind of people who Obama is trying to help (the poor underclass). The McCain/Palin campaign could care less about this demographic; they are just using their poor intellect to stir up racial hatred and get themselves elected to office.
sabiwabi
Were these two "Neo-Nazis" really white supremacists? Or were they just working for the powers that be (not white supremacists) who want an all out race war in America?
Suzu1
The locals called in ATF to work the case because federal charges carry stiffer prison time and there is no parole in the federal prison system. They face 10 years alone on possession of the short-barrel shotgun. The other two federal charges against the pair are for conspiracy to steal firearms from a federally licensed dealer and making threats against a candidate for the Office of President.
frontandcentre
There are a few of the more extreme right wing posters we have to put up with notable by their absence of comment on this one. Hopefully not because they would agree with the intended actions of ignorant, hate-filled bigots like these...
The trouble as I see it is that people like these are the ultimate extension of some of the common views held by Republican supporters - remember McCain's defence of Obama against paranoid lies of some republicans in Minnesota, and the response it got? There is a lot of delusion and misinformation out there. Shame on anyone who would encourage such thinking, regardless of whose views their actions might be intended to support.
skipthesong

ImperiumMundi: "everybody knows that the skinhead movement originated in europe. round up the young louts and send them back there."
If you oppose the racial hate agenda that these idiots stand for, then it's just a tad paradoxical to suggest "sending back" Americans to another country, isn't it?
Alphaape
frontandcentre, that comment is the reason why I posted my thoughts. Many people think that those types of thoughts are original Republican thoughts, but if you look at history, it has been the Democrats who have historically brought up the race issue and were for the segregation policies that were in place in the South. It was not until Nixon won the south under the guise of "law and order" (i.e. put down the rebellion of the urban riots of the North) did the south begin to switch towards Republican.
SezWho2
Alphaape,
And nowhere did I say that these two were Republicans. Good grief! How can you be either a Republican or a Democrat at 18 or 20 years old? (Read Browning's Fra Lippo Lippi.) They don't know anything yet.
My point wasn't about them being Republicans. My point was about Republicans trying to harness the fear and hatred in America. And if, as you say, Arkansas hosts many Klan types who are predominantly Democrats--I'm pretty sure McCain and Palin do not care where the votes come from.
JoeBigs
Hmmm they wanted to kill Obama...Hmmmm They hated Black people and wanted to kill them....Hmmmmm Let us see, who are Klan and Nazis supporting these days?
Yep they must be supporting Obama rather than McBush! You know Obama is the white guy.!LOL

It really doesn't make much difference what fringe group of Skinheads you want to place these guys. But they wouldn't be trying to kill Obama and 88 people, including 14 African-Americans by beheading if they were democrats. Please folks. < :-)

Heil Hitler? Funny (not haha) how these Nazi's think fascism and the like are all down to the 'great leader Adolf'. Firstly they make themselves look ignorant by deifying a dead moron; then they make themselves look worse by thinking they are somehow a superior race because they have white/pink skin; finally they put the lid on their own coffins by not even trying to reason with people their beliefs, simply forcing them on others.

USAfdude Dont you recall your own history? Where were the "protectors" of JFK when he was gunned down in Dallas? Oh, sorry - I forgot - he was assassinated by the CIA, after all. Lets hope President Obama doesnt suffer the same fate at the hands of the US Intelligence Services.
I do expect attacks on Prsident Obama - America is a very racist country and there will be many who will not like a Black President.

This is gonna be a very interesting four years. It seems there are as many Black Racists as white! It is a shame we should air our "dirty laundry" on a foreign forum. But it will be a first step towards a better America, God help us until we get there though.

What a couple of morons. The best thing that could ever happen to the white nationalist movement is for America to elect Obama President and let his racist bitch wife get her hands on a microphone.
By the way, the reason 88 is sacred to these goof balls is that H is the 8th letter in the English alphabet. 88 = HH = Heil Hitler. That's my little neo-nazi factoid for the day. Cheers.

This is very upsetting, but to me not totally unexpected. I fear for Obama ,not so much now but after winning the White House. Obama now has the image of hope ,change ,saviour of America to voters; thanks to himself and extremely bias media. Just imagine after winning the election, if he can not deliver what he promised during the election he will upset a lots of people. And if he sucessfully delivers "CHANGE",he certainly will upset a lots of powerful people too. All I see is a very turbulent time ahead for American politics.
bebert
Exactly. Obama is fraud. A con man. The irony is that if he wins, all of his constituents-blacks, liberals, Jews, hand wringing whites, etc.- lose. Obama can't deliver on his promises. He's like a political hand grenade. Elect him and he's going to blow. Everyone near him goes down, the country goes down and those that will rise to the top will be the same right wing crowd that put that jerk-off Bush into office. Maybe they'll get it right next time
skipthesong
I told you people a long time ago, you all should have picked a Hispanic to run.. this wouldn't be happening. here you have these skin heads wanting to kill 88 people and on the other hand you have some professor from North Ca having lectures on cspan about "exterminating white people".
All of you should have went with the safe bet.. just by looking at the posts above, there is going to be a bad race war in the very near future. Glad I won't be in McCain or Obama's USA.

These white supremacist nutjobs don't realize they're only making things worse by threatening Obama and blacks. It allows the MSM and democrats to further abuse the race card. A black president will have been elected and they'll STILL be bemoaning that America is racist nation. They need that race warfare for their Marxist revolution and this only gives them ammunition.
JoeBigs
I find it so funny that the Right wing has been stirring their base to get vote. But all along they have been stirring the far Right element of their party. McBush and his not anymore girl Thursday have pushed their followers to do the unthinkable.
I know they most likely do not want their nutz to do the unthinkable. But if some of these Right wing nutz do make a play against Obama or any other person who has a D behind their name. Then the blame has to be placed on Palin and McBush and no one else.
Right wing wing nutz are easy to stir, you just have to tell them the right catch word and they will jump.
Let us see what words to use, Obama is anti-American, Muslim, not a Christian, Hates America, Terrorist, Socialist policy, Socialist beliefs, so on and so on.......
These have been used to describe Obama by the McBush and his ex-girl Thursday. Guess what, these catch words are the keys to rev up the wing nutz in the far right.
BTW do you know what is at the far Right? Neo-Nazis are the far right.
Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, National Socialist, The SA, SS, Nazism, the folks that we fought in WW II, Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, Scared white guys, American Nazi Party, George Lincoln Rockwell (an American Nazi), White nationalism, dare I keep scratching that scab?
Wake up and stop the hate, the more you hate the easier you are. If the Republican war machine would stop the bs on considerate on what maters this would be a better world but they do not and they hate continues.
Watch out for the Far right hate catch words they can spark the wing nutz!

you say McCain has pushed this nutty kids, how has he pushed them into a corner that they felt this was the only answser?
goodDonkey
Well I don't blame this on the Republicans. I also know there are conservative posters on JT that are not racists. I have heard them support Condi Rice and Colin Powell too many times to think that. As far as McCain goes I have heard several times that Palin thought they should be using the rhetoric of Rev. Wright in their campaign and McCain has so far refused to do that because he did not want it to become a race issue.
Deepinside
bebert, the time machine said: the riot of L.A.,,do you remenber ? think twice before you talk..
skipthesong
McCain has so far refused to do that" Doesn't he have an adopted kid who is black? I don't think he nor his wife would stoop that low and adopt a kid at the same time be that racist.
NetteMarie
I think GoodDonkey and SkiptheSong are right in saying McCain isn't a racist, and I don't think he incites fear of the other with that purpose, but it is his party's platform.
In that way he is a Maverick, I saw him correct a supporter that said Obama was a Muslim (though I don't think it should matter if he was). McCain is a respectable man but his supporters and many of his party only have a short PC fuse. And words like "hanging out with terrorist" and mentioning his middle name sounds Muslim (which equals terrorist to middle class working America watching too much Fox News).
So I guess I'm saying though it is not in McCains character to be a racist, but his campaign's usage of hints that Obama is the "other" makes him an accessory to racism.
USAFdude
Realist - I'm very aware of history. I'm also aware of the advances in technology and communications that have helped improve presidential security measures over the past 45 years.
Thanks for your post, though.

Racism sux - trust me. When fit hits the shan, white boys and black boys all bleed the same color. It disgusts me to see such xenophobia in this forum. And some of you call yourselves American? If America and the principles of democracy are truly an enlightening force in the modern world, why is it that some people engage in "debate" which is little more than racist propaganda? So Obama's wife is a racist? Tell me another one. So and so loves jews. So what? Instead of sitting here slagging off each other in such a purile and pitiful manner, get a life.
jwills79
Skipthesong,
No, he has an adopted daughter who is from Bangladesh. She has dark skin. The same people working for him are the same ones who worked for Bush. During the election against they inferred to the Republican base that McCain had an illegitimate black child. That energized the base to not vote for him. The base of the Republican party now is the legacy of the racist Democrats ("Dixiecrats") who joined the Republicans after the Civil Rights Movement.
Race is always factor in elections. Why? Because African-Americans have historically been the most consistent group for the Democrats. They make up 13% of the population. The Republicans strategy is always to restrict the voting abilities of AAs. It was through more obvious acts of terrorism in the last century with Southern Democrats (Dixiecrats). Now they changed parties and doing through more covert methods to keep AAs from voting.
You should read "How to Rig an Election" by the Republican operative who had to serve time breaking the law for RNC during Bush's re-election campaign. It is true insight.
Sarge
"Race is always a factor in elections"

It is not. Do you have any proof of this? I didn't think so.
Heck, the Republican Party is the first party to elevate the first AA, and then the first AA woman, to the post of Secretary of State.

They were going to go out and kill 88 people, then get dressed up in white tuxedos and top hats to do a drive-by shooting of Obama. I have a feeling that they were motivated more by their lack of sanity than race or politics.
northlondon
Errm, Republican-held Florida's (as in, George Dubya's brother Jeb Bush's) voter scrub list was as restrictive of African American voters as you could get.
If you cannot read into those moves then you really have been blinkered by the Republican party. And by the way. The first African American Secretary of State is obviously not too impressed, as he has recently gone on record stating his support of the Democratic candidate.

The ignorance of some people amazes me. When did somebody's race have anything to do with their ability to perform the duties of President. It seems that some of you are members of the pointy white hat club, you know burning crosses on the front lawn and all that. I would also assume that some of you are serving members of the military. Now although it has been some years since I trained with the US military, I seem to remember that the drill instructors were not teaching the goose-step. The Republicans' strategy is always to restrict the voting abilities of African-Americans.
Plenty of proof. An ex-GOP dirty tricks operative was recently released from prison and tells how it is done. Refer to Allen Raymond and his book: "How to Rig an Election: Confessions of a Republican Operative."
Of course, there are many Republicans who do not have the intellectual integrity to examine the evidence and admit that those who make the claim of Republican dirty tricks against African-Americans and others have a strong basis for making those claims. Thank you, Mr. Raymond.

This "story" is awfully suspicious. Most skinhead/racist groups like the KKK have endorsed obama for president. Even David Duke has said that obama being elected would be good for the cause. The reason: His presidency, they think, will bring about the revolution that will turn America into a white-only country.
It's also very suspicious that this "story" is released on the same day in which a tape is released of obama expressing his opinion and desire that the Supreme Court or the legislature set aside the U.S. Constitution because the Constitution is flawed; instead of having the government do for people it grants people the rights to do for themselves.
It seems the only reason to release this "story" is to knock potentially damaging information about obama out of the news cycle.

Alphaape
Yabits, I would like to see the proof of this myself. Since I am a Black American and have voted in elections since 1984, I have see more dirty tricks on White Democrats than White Republicans. Case in point, when a Black man was running for Governor of Maryland under the Republican ticket, the white Dems in the state went so far as to pull up his credit record and make it public as well as a host of other ads in the Black communites in Maryland stating to the effect that he was a sell-out and even going so far as showing him in a poster with an "uncle tom blackface."
The Dems have marginalized the Black voters since they have joined the Dem ranks after Johnson started his great society programs. Now with the influx of Hispanic voters in America, they have started to shift their focus.
The bottome line to all of this is that yes there are still racial tensions in America, on both sides (Black/White and Rep/Dem). Both sides are capable of doing dirty tricks to get elected. I don't think Obama (or McCain) will be able to solve our racial problems on Nov 5.
yabits
Alphaape writes: "I would like to see the proof of this myself."
Then I assume you'll go and get the book I referred to.
If you're talking about Michael Steele, I recall him running a few years back, and the incident to which you refer. It was done by two young campaign workers on their own authority, who were immediately fired when Democratic officials discovered what they had done. (Now, if you can find a book written by an ex-Democrat operative who admits to party support for dirty tricks, by all means, let us know.)
You say Steele "ran as a Republican." You would have had a hard time telling that from Steele's ads. He omitted his party affiliation and made sure his name was always bordered with plenty of blue and not a trace of red. He really didn't fool anyone but himself.

Oh man, the media will have heyday with this. And of course, any Obama-critical news (remember the recent recordings of him declaring that the constitution is "flawed") is blown out of the news.
Did the clowns ever have a realistic chance of doing anything, other than bragging? It seems to me that an unbiased press would put this non-story on page 4 somewhere.
An unbiased press, of course, is something we don´t have.
RomeoRamenII
If the authorities actually had this information, it should have been released at the time of the arrest not five days after the fact.
Something's not right about this "story". Oh ... wait. It's coming from a "news" organization that stopped being objective during this election cycle a long, long time ago.
Nevermind.

"In court records unsealed Monday in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn, federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school in a murder spree..."

ANOTSUSAGAMI
So the real issue here is Obama says the constitution is flawed? You mean the same constitution that once contained laws that allowed one man to own another, yet in the same breath say all men are equal? Say it aint so. Can one seriously say that the constitution is perfect? If that's the case, why are new laws added every year? Why do laws differ from state to state? If the constitution were perfect as you claim (as implied by your outrage at Obama's statement) wouldn't we have the same laws everywhere?
RomeoRamenII
Looks like these guys had no plans to assassinate obama afterall, Per the ATF:
"A senior Barack Obama aide tells ABC News that Obama's Secret Service detail had not been briefed on the alleged plot to assassinate the Democratic nominee, an indication that the plot had not reached the point of posing a serious threat to Obama.
"They were given no heads up," the Obama aide tells ABC News.
ABC News' Jack Date reports the ATF have arrested two neo-Nazis for an alleged plot to Obama.
The plotters were also planning to kill 88 individuals by gunfire and 14 African Americans by decapitation a federal law enforcement sources tells ABC News.
Obama has had Secret Service agents surrounding him since May 3, the earliest a candidate has ever been provided protection.
An Obama aide tells ABC News that Secret Service headquarters "would be notified of anything that mentioned" Obama. But adds that "it never rose to any sort of serious level," which explains why Obama's personal detail was not notified."
So, it appears the obama dog walkers at AP got it wrong, again.

You mean Obama right???? Look at all the bad associations he has had over the course of his life. Radical thinkers that just create chaos and hatred. He's more the racist than he thinks.
Thsi is just another one of Obama's stategies to gain sympathy, sad!!!!
His distasteful comments on our constitution is offensive. The same constitution that allowed the civil rights movement to prevail. Slavery at the time was all over the world not just in the US; whatever some of you might think. This constitutional document is the reason this country is great. I'm a so called minority and am very proud of what our founding fathers set forth many years ago that has allowed for change to happen. A flexible document that stands the test of time. They foresaw the needs of the future. You tell me what country out there has a better one. There is none. Capitalism works and not Socialism. To think of Socialism while there are countries out there that are still wanting to become the big dog is stupid. Not to mention that the very foundation of our constitution does not support it.
WilliB
"One of the tragedies of the civil rights movement, was because the civil rights movement became so court focused, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways, we still stuffer from that."
