My respects to the family of this man who was doubtless very dear to them and I mean disrespect to the man himself, but this is Japan Today and not being an American I have no idea who he is. I cannot for the life of me understand how this could possibly constitute “World news” given that there far more important and more encompassing news stories that could and should be covered.

"Mingo"? What kind of Indian name is that? More like something from Flash Gordon.

I am too young to know who Fess Parker is, but my parents went to his winery once -while in California.

I remember Davey Crockett as a kid. Those were the days that the hero could carry a gun and wear animal fur on his head and not get attacked by some anri-gun group or PETA.

Fess himself, as Crockett, singing "Farewell". Seems appropriate.

He was the king of the wild frontier. I didn't realize he was still alive. I used to watch that show.

Being from Kentucky, I loved Fess Parker as Davy Crockett, but then with Daniel Boone. He was my hero. In my earlier days I thought this was the real and honest history of my state.

I was disappointed when he quit acting. I liked those wilderness flicks.

R.I.P. < :-)

King of the wild frontier. Squinty, grinning. Calm, strong. Cool. Great stuff. RIP Fess. You played the role better than old Davy himself probably.
