Those with no life to speak of, criticising someone with a life…the irony. Rather have a human at the top rather than a bureaucrat.

Cricky

Everyone deserves a life....but as Thatcher said ' it's lonely at the top.'

Were her friends vetted? What is to say she didn't discuss sensitive political matters or divulge confidential information? There is a huge security risk here. That seems to be the main concern.

House Party, she was not grinding, they hope

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

She shouldn't have apologized. She didn't do anything illegal, nor did she witness anything illegal.

Marin made headlines across the world last week when a video surfaced showing her dancing and partying with a group of friends and celebrities.

Some interpreted comments heard on the video as referring to narcotics, something heavily debated on social media and which she strongly denied.

As per folks from Finland commenting on YouTube the lyrics of the song to which she was gyrating to had been modified to refer to drugs and the modified lyrics suggested that she enjoyed taking drugs.

Marin confirmed on Tuesday the picture was taken at her official residence in Kesaranta

She is entitled to turn her home to Skid Row if she wants and no one other than the Finns themselves have any right to judge.

However the amusing point here is that those defending her would be tearing her apart if she were a conservative instead of a progressive.

This is really a combination of Russo-phants and woman-haters who:

Don’t like Finland joining NATO.

Don’t like women being in charge.

ESPECIALLY don’t like beautiful young women having fun in their off hours.

She shouldn’t apologize. She should tell them to pound sand.

When she’s paid off a porn star (of either gender) for a romp while her husband was home with their newborn child, then we can talk. Until then, curdled men - especially non-Fins would do well to mind their own business.

You can't even enjoy your life now without everyone passing judgement on you. It's really no wonder why decent people avoid getting involved in politics.

She is young, female and enjoys her free time. Can't have that now can we. I think what she was doing was on her own time and she was enjoying herself. The only thing I might question is her choice of friends. The video should not have been shown outside her circle of friends.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

I don't like her because she's a WEF hack, but this is a non-event.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Wow, what's wrong with having fun after work!??

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Because that’s what I think these videos and photos are - publicity stunts deliberately leaked by her own team.

So just another conspiracy theory then.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

So just another conspiracy theory then.

Call it what you will.

The next elections in Finland are less than 8 months away. The leaks are timed perfectly.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

I don't like her because she's a WEF hack, but this is a non-event.

Exactly.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

You're in NATO now.

Get with the program.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

It’s clearly just ‘locker room’ type shenanigans. Perfectly normal.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Imagine Biden throwing a House Party,it would be the hippest thing ,he ever done, Obama threw lots of House Partying while he served as President

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

I don't like her because she's a WEF hack, but this is a non-event.

Exactly.

Seems the US leader of a delegation to the WEF was....the Republican House leader.

Neo-liberalism is on both sides of the democratic false political dichotomy.

At least Main and the Social democrats do a better job of keeping poverty low and having a working social safety net.

We should talk more of the financial scandalous dealings of the elite as seen in the Pandora Papers.

I guess if you are the leader of a nation you must sit primly, white-gloved hands folded just so in their lap, watching opera or ballet to be considered "reliable" or "serious" and only drink water from a clear glass with pinky finger extended. Right?

1 ( +7 / -6 )

if it wasnt a socialist, liberals would be all over this as inappropriate behavior of a world leader.

-8 ( +8 / -16 )

She has zero to apologise for.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

if it wasnt a socialist, liberals would be all over this as inappropriate behavior of a world leader

Projecting.

Not everyone is fogged up with partisanship. This is a very good thing.

Honestly, this is no big deal.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

WTF !

Here we have a real Person, who's leading a Country, and they are behaving like, a Real Normal Person, and are now being Criticized for doing so ???

Look at yourselves first before criticizing others.

This isn't a Woman thing, look at the UK's Michael Grove ... so what, I say, they both have a "Human" side to themselves which we can relate to.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

I don't like her because she's a WEF hack, but this is a non-event.

What is that, anyone?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Good that this minor incident didn't Finnish her career.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

At least Main and the Social democrats do a better job of keeping poverty low and having a working social safety net.

No, not in any minority community.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Finland has the fourth-lowest poverty rate in OCED countries and a Gini coefficient of . 27, which is lower than the United States.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Lets see a video of yourselves in the Pub, or even your Bosses... let alone a party that you're hosting back home ?

Seriously... "Get a Life" has a true ring here.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

She really shouldn’t have apologised. The message should have been simple - it was a private party - get a life.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

if it wasnt a socialist, liberals would be all over this as inappropriate behavior of a world leader.

to say you have no room to talk is a bit of an understatement

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Though funny enough, I agree with you Blacklabel, to the extent that using the official residence of a head of state for a casual blowout with old friends is inappropriate.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I don't like her because she's a WEF hack, but this is a non-event.

Exactly.

That's rich coming from the followers of a man who publicly boasted about assaulting women.

Not a surprise these misogynists are threatened by a strong woman!!!

0 ( +4 / -4 )

If she takes timeout to enjoy herself it will make her a better person and a better PM.

Sure she can enjoy all she wants in whichever way she wants. Political leaders in other countries get away with worse things.

Personally speaking, I don’t agree with a leader of a nation partying with folks who she may not know or be able to trust fully and that too in her own residence. Because of reasons of national security and nothing else.

But all that is for the Finns to judge.

My only doubt is that her own team is leaking these videos and photos for publicity. Finland elections are less than 8 months away and the more she is attacked the more sympathy she gets from the progressives.

And if you think politicians can’t stoop so low for a few extra votes then you got another thing coming.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

You're in NATO now.

Get with the program.

Exactly! Get yourself a side-piece set up with an NDA. Come on, lady! You are making the old white men look bad.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

The high offices of state are not your common-or-garden positions of employment; they come with expectations of a certain standard of behavior and decorum.

Getting drunk while on duty (she had cancelled her scheduled leave yet chose to party) and in the company of morally questionable individuals “the (Colombian marching) powder gang” would be gross misconduct in just about every profession, but because she is a woman she gets a pass.

Malfeasance in public office.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

It's a private party until some numpty shares pics/vids of it online. What is wrong with people, choose your friends wisely.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

She should resign.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Will EU nations allow Finland to join EU?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

However the amusing point here is that those defending her would be tearing her apart if she were a conservative instead of a progressive.

Just not true.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

There had been liberal wailing and gnashing of teeth over much, much less in the past.

total non event here, just like the others that were made a big deal were also manufactured outrage.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

And yeah cocaine on the table is super bad. Obviously. And the kissy kissy with someone not her husband opens the blackmail box.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

It could if it was done in secret. Not when it’s done where everyone can see it.

It was done in secret.

she stupidly associates with people who are addicted to social media. Wasn’t supposed to be seen, right?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

At first the people have to think of the safety of thier country and thier readiness.

What if there was an emergency in thier nation? Now she's been drinking all night and needs to be the one making the tough decisions at those dangerous times? Frankly, she was not ready, and definitely not focused. Can she have a girls night out, like that? Absolutely not, don't be silly.

She's a public official, on call to the people 24/7. If she thought differently she should never have taken the position.

Everyone wants the status, but few want to bare the weight of that status.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

What if there was an emergency in thier nation?

LOL

What Like a Russian invasion? Alien invasion? Well, the spaceship kind anyway. This is Finland for gods sake. Maybe she should put a T-shirt on and lift weights for 5 minutes before turning on the video recorder, like that other so called leader.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

All is forgiven.

never pay blackmail, just own it, baby!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Whats wrong with being human really give me a break we all have a few get off our trees now and then who gives a flying....

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I'm not from Finland. I don't know the ins and outs or their politics.

Perhaps the problem is that this was all done at the official residence. I imagine the tax payers pay all the bills. The partying and pictures would be inappropriate in that case.

If done at her private residence then no problem.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

What? A secret nightclub? With a secret photographer taking secret photographs? You need to take a deep breath, buddy.

no in a private setting where it would have never been seen, was never meant to be seen, absent her idiot friends posting it on social media.

In other words, not to be shared with anyone what was going on = secret.

Not your buddy, by the way.
