First government plane carrying Syrian refugees arrives in Canada

Kind of like Wall Street destroying so many ordinary Americans financially in 2008. Not that Republicans would ever see anything wrong with that.

If people (especially us americans) would learn how to live within our means, these wouldn't be so many financial problems.

Yeah, I saw a few middle class homeowners (D) who suddenly had those huge "balloon payments" on their short term mortgages in 2008.

Plus, they lived lifestyles as if they were grossing triple digit annual incomes. Go figure-

Toronto Star, Canada’s largest circulation newspaper . . . The front page included an editorial. “You’ll find the place a little bigger than Damascus or Aleppo, and a whole lot chillier. But friendly for all that. We’re a city that cherishes its diversity; it’s our strength,”

It is really surprising how many predict dire consequences, and it does seem contrary to the Christian Holiday time of Christmas. Somehow, empathy is forgotten and in some comments, out right hostility is some weird badge of courage or prompts condemnation of the People of Canada.

Some more thought, especially among the most hostile, might recall these people are fleeing a disaster wrought largely in the prosecution of a war based on lies. (This point is clearly difficult for some and is not intended to provoke, it is however, based in facts.)

These are human beings who have lived with the effects of war since George W. Bush marched into Iraq 19 March 2003 in Operation Iraqi Freedom. (There were no Iraqis among the hijackers of September 11, 2001)

On May 1, 2003, President George W. Bush declared "Mission Accomplished". But, now, twelve years, seven months later, the culmination of Bush's disasters has displaced millions from their homes, livelihoods and families.

It might be nice to think on these refugees something other than demonization at the holiday of Christ's birth. A little bit of reflection on the causes and sufferings of women and children is hopefully not too much to ask.

If that doesn't bring a tear to the eye, reading Toronto Star's editorial might. A perpetual state of fear, revenge and hate is a horrible legacy, but for some, it may be all George W. Bush's mission accomplished.

Or, maybe, a measure of respect for the People of Canada should be offered; who seem ready to give a new start to the innocent victims of war who did nothing to cause their present state of unimaginable suffering.

Because the "new arrivals" are benefiting from something they did not put "in" to. But, thats just my opinion. I don't vote, live nor do I work / pay taxes in Canada.

The Canadian program is 'live and let live'. Or in other words, if someone wants to smoke pot, drink whiskey, and eat bacon, let them, and if they don't, let them not. It's called 'tolerance'.

Of course, they are using it as their PR tool. As mentioned, Trudeau to look after his own people. There are any elderlies including veterans who had contributed a lot to build the country. Many homeless and mental illness people who need services and help, yet, they are being ignored. This year is warm so far. Last year, there were homeless people freeze to death sleeping on the street..

A country's leader should first look after its own people, as they elected him/her and he/she is serving the voters - not the other way around. However, Trudeau seems to get his priority reversed. I like the British term "public servants" as it exactly describes what those in office is and should be doing.

Projecting with all the national debt and future scandals and corruption that the federal government will inherit from the Ontario Lieberal goons, yes, we need pot for us to escape reality. If in US, most of the Ontario Lieberal would have been charged for fraud/corruption and forced to step down rather than promoted.

Canada is restricting itself to mainly women and children, they are not so open armed to the men. However, women are willing to be radicalized into Isis also. So about 18 months, from now, Canada will experience an attack from whomever isis managed to get into the country.

Mosques arent illegal in japan - its just that the government ensures theres hardly any demand for them.

All I'll say about it is in Canada, except for the native aboriginals, we're all immigrants.
