"We have to be grateful to those who are willing to subject themselves to take that risk" to participate in the studies, she said. "It is a very personal decision."

Sign me up. I want to get rid of those horrendous masks and be able to take a trip to Tokyo to meet my children, or have them come to visit me, without a 14-day self-imposed quarantine.

Do I understand that article correct?
Does US health care workers suggest us not to take this Vaccine?
Alex
Somehow I don't think that people that were at the frontlines and saw all the death and suffering would say no to a vaccine. Don't place much value on some random story.

I'm somewhat of the same mind as Torres. I'm actually a strong advocate of vaccines but I'm also skeptical of anything pushed through during the Trump reign.
Something that normally takes 10 years to be studied and approved is pushed into less than one year is understandably going to be met with caution and a little bit of fear.

Political reasons. Not even quantified, just a few anecdotes.

No.
No.
“Some” have personal reservations, which is their choice.

You could say “it’s the USA, what do you expect”!
However this article is an example of bad journalism, it is anecdotal and evidences little research on the subject. Potboiler to generate fear and uncertainty rather than inform.

Oh dear. Some posters who have been saying "shut up and listen to the doctors" are suddenly very quiet...

Bob: no, we are not. We are just ignoring you.

There is a 30+thousand person study (2 actually) that say that 2 different vaccines are safe and effective (although they may make you feel like crap for a day or two).
And here’s the kicker, you get the virus, you’re about as likely to die as to win the lottery.
These vaccines are safe and very effective. I will gladly be the first in line. The data is in. the oversight is in.
Get the vaccine, go back to a normal life.

So Bob, do you agree with Diana Torres? Why or why not?
Personally I think she is a smart lady who has been affected by misinformation, which is a real threat to the success in the fight against this virus.

No, but people can choose to wait because they don't trust the decision-making of the Trump administration
That's why NY State is doing its own due diligence - which Trump attacked them for
"Trump won't deliver vaccine to NY, faulting Cuomo's safety issue"

I am of the opinion her fears may be misplaced. While certain politicians downplayed the pandemic and even fought against many recommended good practices such as face masks and social distancing, I don't see any evidence that career civil servants in the FDA or other government health related institutions have been doing anything but hard honest work to defeat this pandemic. I would perhaps be more distrustful of big pharmaceutical conglomerates like Pfizer as in most instances all they are out for is to make money, but this is different. This is a global emergency and I am willing to trust their work and that of the FDA. Keep the work of career civil servants who know their jobs and take pride in doing good work (yes they do, they really do) separate from the bumbling malfeasance of some elected officials and their political appointees. They have actually fought with their career civil servants over this but ultimately they don't have the ability to qualify a vaccine over the objections of their trained career staff. So, yes, I will be among the first in line when I am offered the chance to take it. Absolutely.

Including Andrew "force covid patients into nursing homes" Cuomo.

Resist the Trump vaccine. Truth over facts right? When Biden is sworn in as Senator (his words not mine) Dems can start over and develop their own untainted vaccine.

Let the people who want to take it be the firat to get inoculated as well as the people who say it's best for everyone. I strongly encourage this tact.

One of the reasons which may cause healthcare workers to hesitate is the almost complete ignorance of life crippling autoimmune diseases our medical science has, and the absolute disasters and misery which such diseases bring to a Human life and, of which, our greatest ignorance is what causes them. Health care workers are more aware of these deficiencies in our knowledge than the average person and take them more seriously.
The "anti-vax" movement, a campaign by Big Pharma to suppress complaints about its MMR vaccine causing Autism, does not usually enlist health care workers who understand what we don't know. What is causing resistance here is NOT the science but our ever growing distrust of the PEOPLE selling us that science and their motives. The average person does not have enough knowledge to 'trust' or 'not trust' a vaccine. But, experience with our Authorities, both medical and political, who push these products has taught us, is teaching us, to be wary of anything they assert. We no longer trust, nor have much reason to trust, our 'Authorities', those who claim 'to know'. They lie in our faces for their own benefit and profit. Profit by any means is the supreme Authority on this planet, not altruism.
