My pity to the illegal immigrants who will basically be disappeared to Papua New Guinea, locked up tighter than murdering convicts. No press and no visitors. The secret camp in PNG even creeps out the poor locals. Shame on Australia. I don't envy their problems with boat people, but shame on Australia for this heinous way of dealing with it.

CalvinMontblanc, is that what happens to the boat people? They get jailed? I thought that they were getting a new home. Not Australia, but a new home. Another country that Australia judged as being better than their origin. Wow. I don't know much. Thanks, I'm A Monkey.

CalvinMontblanc. The asylum seekers are locking up in Australia. They can have visitors if they have friends and relatives in where they were detained or Australia. They can have better meals than average low income family. They have 3 meals per day. Also they have Air condition in dormitory which they burn down in Nauru where peoples of Nauru expecting to move in once Asylum seekers were gone but their dream gone first in flame. The damaged cost tax payers’ money $ 60 Millions. Some of asylum seekers are blackmailing weak and incompetence Australian Government. Today asylum seekers are smarter than you think. They know how to pressure on politicians and Government. Also Human Right and Immigration Lawyers have their reason for advocating asylum seekers right to stay in Australian. It’s all about money and politic. In the end, Australian tax payers foot the bills. Australia is rich country in name but reality many peoples can not afford to go dentist for filling or pulling off teeth. Going to see Dentist is not as expensive as in Japan but simply they do not have spare money for that. Past 5 years under Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard Government, over 50,000 asylum seekers came by boat and over 1300 peoples were drown including children and pregnant women. Also costs for hosting 50,000 Asylum seekers are blown out to $ 10 Billions in within 5 years. I do not want to argue about whether they are economic refugees or genuine refugees. In reality, Australian peoples have feed up with those asylum seekers and their generosity is drying up for some reasons. Australia has many homeless youth and adult and they sleeping under bridges, front of building and on the platform. We should have look after those homeless peoples in the street. Asylum seekers who were released into the community with Bridging Visa got better treatment than those Australian homeless peoples. They get fully furnished accommodation with HD TV set in bed room it was provided by Salvation Army which got contract from Government to look after Asylum seekers and refugees. Australia Government and Australian peoples are doing whatever they can do for those Asylum seekers but now Asylum seekers problem is very clear and they though those asylum seekers are not genuine refugees and in fact they are economic refugees. For me, I want to see that $ 10 Billions money go to aid organizations which are helping and feeding to refugees in the camps instead of spending on just 50,000 Asylum seekers. Every Asylum seeker cost tax payers' money minimum $ 120,000 and some asylum seeker cost more. However, other associated costs are even costly than refugee processing in Australia. In the end, Australian Government has right to protect our border from unauthorized entering by unseaworthy boats whatever you're opinion was.

They don't get sent back if they land on CI. They are housed in various on shore and off shore places until processed for stay, or in some cases, for leave. As soon as they are in Australian territorial waters, they become the responsibility of Australia on way or another. Most people have little sympathy for people who think they can just illegally hop on a boat and go and live in another country. If they wanted asylum they should go through the proper channels and wait in line like everybody else. It's about time that this asylum fiasco was radically overhauled. Why a person can travel through numerous safe countries to reach a particular country and then claim asylum is just ridiculous.
