Governor Helmet Hair signs a bill to limit voting because when people vote, Republicans lose.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

Even Fox News appeared taken aback by the stunt. It later issued a statement saying it had booked DeSantis’ appearance on its program “as an interview and not as a live bill signing. Neither the network, nor the show, requested or mandated the event be exclusive to Fox News Media entities.”

Still, it wasn't the first time the governor, who is up for reelection next year and is widely viewed as a potential presidential candidate in 2024, has used Fox for photo ops before. In January, the governor found himself backtracking after a Fox appearance in which he claimed that a 100-year-old World War II veteran he invited with him would be the 1 millionth senior in his state to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot in the arm. In fact, it took several more days for the state to hit that milestone. DeSantis' office later said the event was meant to be symbolic of the achievement.

Noting but a cheap scam-artist and con-man....just like the guy that lives down in Mar-A-Lago...

He's a cross between a used car salesman and a bible-thumping evangelical huckster...

If Florida's election system needs fixing, then it calls into question DeSantis' legitimacy.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

A spokesperson for the governor, Taryn Fenske, said later that DeSantis did not sign the actual bill on camera and that the event was purely ceremonial.

In January, the governor found himself backtracking after a Fox appearance in which he claimed that a 100-year-old World War II veteran he invited with him would be the 1 millionth senior in his state to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot in the arm.

So he’s someone you can depend on, a trail blazin’ fighter for the people. Not at all a snake oil salesman. No sir.

Dems are just worried that Florida and other red states will pretty much put cheating to an end.

Post proof of the "cheating".

6 ( +9 / -3 )

DeSantis trying to curb cheating

Post proof of the cheating.

blackabel: You do know that Republicans and Trump won Florida even with the less restrictive COVID time voting processes, right?

Yeah, but to Democrats it just doesn't feel like Trump's win was legitimate. Sure, we have no evidence, we lied about having evidence, and we lost every court case.

But don't our feelings count for something?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

bass: The poll, released on Wednesday by Rasmussen Reports, found that 75% believe photo identification should be presented before voting and that 69% of black voters support voter ID laws.

Florida already has voter ID laws. This is Stage 2 where the GOP tries to restrict access by doing things like removing people from registration lists and reducing the number of drop off boxes. Like I said before, it will make voting more difficult, all to protect ourselves against a bad voter that you haven't proven even exists.

Don't you think government should have to prove their case before restricting access to voting? If not, then that's where our disagreement is.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Blacklabel: No more than I have to allow my home to be robbed first to justify the locks on my doors.

That impacts you only. If you want to compare apples to apples, you'd support restricting access to your entire city while claiming you have to protect yourself from rising crime that you claim but can't prove.

Shall we use the same logic for gun purchases? Fraud is rampant with background checks. I can't prove it, but I feel it's right. Is that enough? Are you against making America safer?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Bass: Hasn't worked out for The West Coast of the US

The #1 destination for people leaving Texas? California.

I'll just go ahead and say it's all because of politics in Texas because that's what my feelings say.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Dems are just worried that Florida and other red states will pretty much put cheating to an end.

If cheating is rampant in Florida and Republicans run Florida, doesn't that mean Republicans cheat?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Florida can’t keep up with the demand for more housing, it’s crazy the numbers of people that are moving there. Good on DeSantis, great for America, let’s hope this creates a domino effect to stop cheating or any other irregularities.

DeSantis keeps getting caught cheating. Signing fake bills on live TV, lying about vaccinations, taking money from Russian businessmen and having to return it when he was caught. But yeah, go ahead and trust him when he tells you who is cheating.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The authors saying that the ceremony was misleading tells me right away that this is a biased article.

Did you read the but where Fox were misled and his own spokesperson admitted it wasn’t a real bill?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Signing fake bills on live TV, lying about vaccinations, taking money from Russian businessmen and having to return it when he was caught.

Yes, the liberal msm are trying in vain to try and distort the truth to take down a very popular governor. Good luck. Lol

Those are all established and verifiable facts.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

you’re on the side of Newsom, Cuomo and these other lib leaders that think their policies serve their States the best.

I don’t support any particular leader. You have no idea at all about me but will blindly label anyone who disagrees with you a liberal. If it makes you feel better go for it, but you are wrong.

I’m on the side of anti-hypocrisy and pro-common sense.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Yep, my Florida vacation plans are off!

If Floridians re-elect DeSantis in 2022....it will be a foreshadowing of the 2024 election.

DeSantis is just another mini-Trump, yet he is polling pretty well...which makes me weep not only for Florida but for my country.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

although the state has found no evidence of widespread fraud.

So we're making it harder for good guys to vote to protect ourselves from non-existent bad guys.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

I did as many times

No you didn't. And I'll tell you why you didn't: because 60+ "fraud" cases have been laughed out of court everytime the ex-president's lawyers tried to provide proof there was any sort of fraud. They were shut down by even trump-affiliated judges. So no, you didn't post any proof, because the proof doesn't exist, because there was no cheating. That's all there is to it.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I did as many times as liberals on this sight posted on voter suppression, neither side believes the other regardless of proof

I can't speak for liberals, but you have not posted any proof.

Why do 45ists deflect, obfuscate and post false/misleading statments?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Ok, but the insults just bounce off them, don't work, doesn't diminish their popularity, next?

Matt Gaetz is going to jail.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Here's a few more sensible election laws America needs to pass to stop the proven rampant cheating by white people:

-Add a simple question to voter registration : "Does racism exist in America?". Everyone who answers "no" is immediately purged from the electoral rolls.

-Require all voters to have a physical adress other than a trailer.

-Only count voters in rural areas states for 2/5ths of the total votes.

This is all completely necessary to stop the massive fraud.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Fun fact: there was NO evidence of voter fraud. Zero, zilch, zip, nada, none, nil.

60 failed lawsuits at the Federal State and local level. One court said “Your case is without merit.” SCOTUS turned it aside in the same way that I step over oyaji vomit in the morning.

People voted, Republicans lost. It’s that simple. Thus the move to limit voting because we can’t have a bunch of uppity minorities expressing their displeasure.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

Having a fake bill signing exclusively on fox news is really a new low. This is complete banana-republic territory. At least that cesspool of a channel now really completely stopped pretending it has any form of objectivity and is admitting it's purely the sick entertainement arm of the extreme right-wing propaganda machine.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Welcome to MAGA-world - where voter suppression is cheered and you go on State TV to announce it...

Republicans have all turned Red - as in Red China and Marxist Russia...they're "all in" on the tyranny of the minority...

It's time for Americans to realize that Repubs have given up on our Constitution - when they can't win, they cry "stolen" and tear down the pillars of out democracy...

All for two reasons; power and money...

3 ( +6 / -3 )

DeSantis is as sleazy as fellow Floridian Matt Gaetz....let alone the insurrectionist ex-President at Mar-A-Lago...

Ok,

Wow...thanks for agreeing with me...

Hey Ron, if you really want to cut down on crime in Florida, you'd put an ankle bracelet on Gaetz that went off anytime he went within 100 yards of a girls high school...

For alleged allegations how un=American

Before you say that, you want to check you archive for your comments on Cuomo...

And outlaw "uncheck the box" money contribution scams that just pay off personal lawyers and Russian oligarch loans...

What?

"What?" Is that all you can say? You're a Trump supporter, and have already admitted to giving him money...maybe indefinitely...

“If you UNCHECK this box, we will have to tell Trump you’re a DEFECTOR & sided with the Dems,” reads a bright yellow, pre-checked box – identical to the ones employed by the Trump campaign – on the NRCC’s WinRed page...

https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewsolender/2021/04/07/gop-continues-trump-campaigns-deceptive-online-fundraising-tactics/?sh=4942cf1d4a18

So are you a defector? Or a sucker?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

So why complain? If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to lose.

I’ll try to make this simple for you. There was No fraud in the election. This was the freest, fairest, most secure election in US history. And that comes from the Trump appointed official who oversaw the process. (And then Trump fired him because he didn’t like the outcome.)

This a solution in search of a problem. Of course the real problem is that the GOP brand is radioactive to minorities, educated women, and Millennials and Gen-z voters; most of whom live in urban areas that this law targets.

Once again, when large numbers of people vote, Republicans lose. That’s why this law came into being. But Governor Helmet Hair can’t say “We have to suppress minorities.” So they come up with straw-man “security” arguments.

it really is just that simple.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

If whoever the politician of a place is decides where you go, why do you remain in a place where you hate the leaders?

By that logic, half of America should leave the country.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

all the attacks on Floridaman just bounce right off. keep trying though, it just makes him stronger and more popular than ever.

How can a statement like this be verified? This is pure opinion, not supported by any facts. Does a mischievous reply not qualify to answer a mischievous statement?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Seeing as one of the rare cases of actual voter fraud in 2020 was a white Trump supporter trying to vote twice, I think all states should implement new voting laws to prevent the massive attempts of all white people to commit fraud during presidential elections. These new voting laws would include:

-Moving all ballot drop boxes to the poorest area of every county.

-Banning all people who wear red caps from entering polling booths.

-Automatically erasing all women named "Karen" from the electoral rolls.

-Requiring voters to be able to name all 9 members of the Wu-Tang Clan to obtain their voter ID.

These are just the first few sensible ideas that come to mind. It would only seem fair to stop the rampant cheating.

So why do you have huge interest in a State that has nothing to do with you?

This is the comments section on the JT World pages. I, and everyone else, can comment on the topic. Be it concerning Florida, Fermanagh or Florence.

Unlike you, I don't make vacation plans according to whether that State or city's politician has a "D" or "R" by their name.

Think you're confusing me with some else. What has that got to do with making one's home a better place to live in?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Florida man 2.0

1 ( +7 / -6 )

No sensible person will believe that minorities are being held back when looking at how both these men snagged the Black community, they need to think of a better ploy. The race card is always the left's ace card, always. Again, this is a good thing for everyone.

Ah, that blatantly false old chestnut. There's no racism because Oprah, Obama etc.

Why do the far right, many of whom support 45ist white nationalists and insurrectionists, always trot it out?

And really, in light of the domestic far right terrorism visited upon the US during the awful 45 regime, you can dismiss the "race card" accusation as soon as i'ts made. Bigots hate being called out on their bigotry.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

if you live in Florida and voting rules are actually your #1 concern for your overall quality of life, you can move.

An interesting take on the old "if you don't like it here, leave" mantra.

People live in places that they call home. They may have roots there, or build and be part of communities. And with anywhere you call home, there will be things about it you want to change for the better.

I'd say voting rights would be pretty much up near the top of the list.

So why do you have huge interest in a State that has nothing to do with you? I don't hear people on the inside of Florida complaining nor was there a huge outcry within Georgia. Only people on the outside are complaining. Fact, many States have Republicans governors that do what governors do and make laws for that State. Unlike you, I don't make vacation plans according to whether that State or city's politician has a "D" or "R" by their name.

First domino to fall will be Arizona, despite the DOJ’s sudden interest in fair elections. New Hampshire is next. Get yourself popcorn ready.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

How childish and pathetic sore losers republicans are..

No, because DeSantis signed this new bill so that makes him a winner and a winner for that State from possibly cheating, even 69% of Blacks support voter ID.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/poll-75-percent-americans-support-voter-id

New polling shows that a large majority supports voter ID laws that require individuals to show a photo identification before voting, including almost 70% of black voters

The poll, released on Wednesday by Rasmussen Reports, found that 75% believe photo identification should be presented before voting and that 69% of black voters support voter ID laws.

Broken down by party, 60% of Democrats support showing an ID to vote compared to 89% of Republicans.

They have not hey over the fact that their favorite clown deservedly lost the elections and now they want to restrict the vote to minorities.

If that were true, Obama wouldn't have and Biden wouldn't have had a strong lead with Black women. No sensible person will believe that minorities are being held back when looking at how both these men snagged the Black community, they need to think of a better ploy. The race card is always the left's ace card, always. Again, this is a good thing for everyone.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

People here do realize the Florida voting laws only affect Florida residents, right?

so why all the whining? Florida had the highest number of voters in 28 years when Trump and Desantis won.

if you live in Florida and voting rules are actually your #1 concern for your overall quality of life, you can move.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Seeing as one of the rare cases of actual voter fraud in 2020 was a white Trump supporter trying to vote twice, I think all states should implement new voting laws to prevent the massive attempts of all white people to commit fraud during presidential elections. These new voting laws would include:

-Moving all ballot drop boxes to the poorest area of every county.

Because many states lack specific rules about how many drop boxes are allowed per county, disputes over their numbers have sparked lawsuits in Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania, all key states in the presidential election.

In Texas, a federal appeals court this week upheld the Republican governor’s order limiting drop boxes to one per county, which Democrats see as voter suppression. California Republicans this week said they will continue to set up unofficial drop boxes for their supporters to use, despite state officials arguing the boxes are illegal.

https://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-and-analysis/blogs/stateline/2020/10/16/rise-in-use-of-ballot-drop-boxes-sparks-partisan-battles

In other words, if it benefits the Democrats it's ok, if it benefits the GOP, it's voter suppression.....what?

-Banning all people who wear red caps from entering polling booths.

Why? Let people wear what they want to wear. Betcha, they wouldn't say that to a Blood member?

-Requiring voters to be able to name all 9 members of the Wu-Tang Clan to obtain their voter ID.

Choice of 5 US amendments and clarify the definition of them.

These are just the first few sensible ideas that come to mind. It would only seem fair to stop the rampant cheating.

Voter ID would definitely help.

An interesting take on the old "if you don't like it here, leave" mantra.

But it's true, I left California because the majority of people at the time approved of its slow demise so I went to Texas and glad that I made the choice and even my wife who is not really into politics noticed the difference immediately how the people live and interact with one another between the States.

People live in places that they call home. They may have roots there, or build and be part of communities. And with anywhere you call home, there will be things about it you want to change for the better.

Hasn't worked out for The West Coast of the US or most of the East Coast, especially in places like NYC, Philly, Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore....and the list goes on...

I'd say voting rights would be pretty much up near the top of the list.

Every American has the right to vote, but no one has the right to cheat or suppress any American's vote.

lame deflections. voter rules also only affect the voting ability of an individual voter.

if your preferred method is against the law, select one that isnt.

I would love to just vote by phone, but I cant.

Anyway, If you dont live in Florida, this doesnt concern you at all.

If you do, you can move. go make your own state or city and make your own voting rules there.

"turnout" is linked to the ABILITY to vote. You know, lack of voter suppression.

Not who you voted for, thats irrelevant as far as the word "turnout".

Unless you are, without evidence, claiming Russia backed voter fraud only in Florida in the "most secure election in history"?

DeSantis keeps getting caught cheating.

As do the Dems and yet, both sides are going to do what they think is right for their states. I’m on the side of DeSantis, you’re on the side of Newsom, Cuomo and these other lib leaders that think their policies serve their States the best.

Signing fake bills on live TV, lying about vaccinations, taking money from Russian businessmen and having to return it when he was caught.

But yeah, go ahead and trust him

I sure do. If I were a Democrat I would worry less about DeSantis trying to curb cheating and worry about holding on to the House, not looking good for Democrats….again.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Those are all established and verifiable facts.

Both sides have their facts.

I don’t support any particular leader. You have no idea at all about me

Relax, relax, I wasn't talking about YOU personally.

but will blindly label anyone who disagrees with you a liberal.

Well, they're definitely not by any means a traditional conservative

If it makes you feel better go for it, but you are wrong.

I'm not wrong because I am allowed to have my opinion and No, it doesn't make me feel better, it makes me sad when I see what the Dems have done to California and what it has become and I don't want the rest of the country to follow in its footsteps, Texas and Florida are a lot similar to what California was awhile back.

I’m on the side of anti-hypocrisy and pro-common sense.

Same here.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Florida Gov Ron DeSantis signed a wide-ranging list of new voting restrictions into law Thursday, staging a misleading, made-for-TV ceremony meant to tout his credentials on a top priority for the Republican Party's conservative base.

The authors saying that the ceremony was misleading tells me right away that this is a biased article.

Anyway, why would DEMS oppose rules meant to prevent voting fraud?

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

they dont have to. the voters voted and get the type of representation they chose. thats how it all works, right?

You do know that Republicans and Trump won Florida even with the less restrictive COVID time voting processes, right?

Florida residents are perfectly happy with who they have, even more so when they saw what the Dem candidate that could have been elected did right after the election. Dodged a bullet on that one.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Post proof of the "cheating".

I did as many times as liberals on this sight posted on voter suppression, neither side believes the other regardless of proof, conservatives and liberals don’t trust each other, so at least with this bill it actually makes it easier to vote by mail and early voting, but has provisions in it that require proof of ID and stops potential influence or the manipulation of ballots in drop boxes, and if liberals don’t like it, they can try and vote DeSantis out, but since the standard of life is high, well and prosperous in Florida, that won’t be happening.
