What a pea-brain.

In Florida you’re free to walk around maskless, free to shoot an unarmed person if you claim that person is a threat. But if you’re an ex-felon you will never be free to vote again until you pay your poll tax (outlawed by the constitution).

A felon can vote again once they have repaid their debt to society. You are spreading election misinformation. Poll taxes were implemented by racist Democrats during the Jim Crow era. They haven’t existed in more than half a century.

Paid your debt to society? No. You can only vote in Florida after you pay fines and expenses, even if you've already served your time in prison.

Poll taxes were implemented by racist Democrats during the Jim Crow era.

And Jim Crow era Democrats are now Republicans. What's your point?

Doing very dumb things in the name of "freedom" is the epitome of the american experience.

Ron DeSantis, Louie Gohmert, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan... The modern GOP is really a fantastic smorgasbord of complete buffoons.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday banned the use of "vaccine passports" in the southeastern state, citing "individual freedom."

Let's go ahead and tell it like it really is: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday worked to potentially spread COVID in the southeastern state, citing "individual freedom."

takeda: And Jim Crow era Democrats are now Republicans.

Everyone at JT has been told that enough times that they know it. If you see someone post it, they are intentionally spreading disinformation at this point. It's just what some people with access to a computer do these days.

Freedom is when a private business gets to decide whether the business or employees should be exposed to people who are not vaccinated.

We all have the freedom not to shake hands with someone.

We all have the freedom not to be breathed on by people who we don't know are free from a deadly illness during a pandemic.

This executive order violates some Federal orders already in place, BTW. To enter the US, a COVID test is required within 3 days prior of arrival.

Also, I bet the Florida Health Department has been giving out papers with each vaccine dose showing the name, date, vaccine type and dosage. They've been doing that since the larger scale trials in November.

It appears that in Florida, superspreader events are a freedom, since only dumb people would attend crowded, huge, events without knowing that everyone else there was vaccinated too. Every time I drive passed the local high school and see some team on the field holding practice - and only the coaches wearing masks, I want to put my head down into both hands and shake it left and right for a few minutes. Teachers here probably all have their 1st shot by now, but they can't get the 2nd one for at least another week or 2, at the earliest.

When single words or terms are "quoted" like this, the "writer" is essentially mocking their meaning

No, Governor DeSantis makes a mockery of them. He will never speak of the obligations that come with freedom. He simply doesn't understand this.

This will obviously be litigated extensively. It seems to be mostly aimed at the cruise industry and Dizzyland but those ships are almost universally registered somewhere other than the US and are mostly foreign owned. Mr. DeSantis and the government of Florida have little say in the matter if those ship's owners decide to require vaccination passports or whatever you wish to call them before boarding their ship. Those ships could decide to embark their passengers elsewhere.

Those whining about their loss of freedom should go to brutal dictatorships like Russia, where you can get killed just for speaking out!!!

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Now the DeSantis’s buddy gaetz seems to be heading to prison, he needs something to divert his supporters’ attention from his own complicity.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

He thinks with a child-like simplicity. You'd think that a middle aged men would have developed a bit more sophistication, but as he is a follower of Trump, I guess it's not surprising.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Look, I love DeSantis, he’s absolutely right on this. If I want to go to the Capitol, I need an ID, when I rent a car, buy a house, use my credit card, I need my ID, if I fly on a plane, I need an ID, but voting it’s racist. You have to be a complete idiot to believe it and I’m glad Florida and Georgia see all this for what it is, pure political BS to ensure Democrats can snatch two more swing States. Good on Kemp and DeSantis, keep up the good work.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

If that’s the case of political evolution then we can say for certainty that the Democrat party are now officially a Marxist party with socialist tendencies.

You can say anything you want in loony toon land, it doesn't make it true.

We were told no one was pushing for “vaccine passports” or anything like that. Now here they are.

if orange man were still there this would be found as discriminatory. As people supposedly can’t even get ID to be able to vote. Now they have to figure this out or can’t travel or see a game or concert? That’s racist.

Thank to them governor for standing strongly against racism.

This article is about the vaccine passports, why are you talking about election laws?

The Florida GOP is so debased they make Georgian ones look like choir boys.

Unfortunately for them their base is rapidly shrinking, dead or in prison!!!

DeSantis last attempt at saving face, will be just that, a futile attempt!!!!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Vaccine passports can be used for voter ID too then? No? Why not?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

So you won’t need a vaccine passport if you are underage and flying to Florida to meet a friend?

DeSantis doesn't want to take responsibility. He just sees tourism dollar signs and that's it.

For him, "individual freedom." means "individual freedumb." And he is a dumbbutt of the highest caliber for encouraging the virus spread and prolongation. Is he willing to have the blood of half a million because of his gross neglect, lies and stupidity like his idol TrashTrump?

What GOP governors are doing is shifting responsibility onto businesses. Here in AZ the governor removed the mask mandate, but that was just populism. People instantly realized the businesses could point to the state requirement for masks and deny entry. Now the burden is shifted to business owners themselves. Deny entry and take the brunt of the criticism yourself, or be dumb and open up and.. take the brunt of the criticism yourself.

Removing mask mandates was really nothing more then the GOP removing themselves from the situation.

Gov. Helmet hair is trying to build a sand castle at low tide here.

You have to prove you’ve been vaccinated to attend public school. This is no different.

I see no imposition on individual liberty of needing to prove that one is vaccinated against an extremely contagious disease during a global pandemic in order to attend a public event.

This is the way the world is heading. One can get on board and get back to life, or one can sit at home and stew in frustration. It’s that person’s choice.

With individual liberties come collective responsibilities. Every one of us lives in an interconnected society. You want to be a functional member of society? You have certain obligations. Being able to document that you are not a vector of disease is one of them.

Over 33,000 dead and rising, infections getting worse by the day...and this dumb Governor is blocking measures that will save MANY more lives.

Lets be thankful we dont live in that awful, dangerous and horribly run place!

Micro chipping people is the best option, not just for vaccination info, but tracking their every movement, who they meet, financial transactions, illegal activities, personal communications etc.

crime will be down. Such technologies exist. There are many useful applications, not just for preventing virus transmission, but other uses like people speeding when driving, Jaywalking, having extramarital meetings, purchasing food that contains too much trans fats...many positive effects.

That happened in Texas and an owner of an Oriental restaurant kept his joint open for pickup and takeout only because he wasn't going to risk himself or any customers. He maintained the mask mandate for those who came in. Know what some nerds did? They spray-painted anti-Chinese/anti-Oriental/anti-Asia grafitti on his restaurant door and smashed a window. Judging from his surname, it looked Vietnamese, not Chinese. No matter. Idiot governor, idiot people taking it out on a restaurant owner who waits to play it safe. And one of the racist slogans painted was 'kung flu'. *Any idea where that crappy inspiration came from??? *The Diaper-Stinker Who Wanted a Berlin Wall At the Rio Grande.

Florida Man can say what they like.

Vaccine passports have existed for decades are still required for certain countries known as the Yellow Card.

Now it will be a more modern version which will include the Covid Vaccine.

I am sort of confused as the why so many places are coming up with their own versions or ideas seeing the Yellow Card Vaccine certificates are still in use and nearly every country in the world issues them under the UN agreement.

You don't want it then don't get it but like with the yellow card if you want to go to or return from certain countries you will have no choice.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Vaccine passports are unworkable and discriminate against those who can't have one like pregnant women.

I suggest looking up "International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis"

And read up on it.

This was standard for decades until most of the world got Vaccines and smallpox was eliminated.

I am only in my 50s and remember having to have a "Yellow Card" (as they are often called) in order to enter or return from certain countries.

The article didn’t cite, it quoted. I think you have “misunderstood”. Citation generally refers to a knowledgeable authority or evidence. A quote can be from anyone, even someone with no evidence or being the antihesis of knowledgeable. DeSantia for example.

DeSantis “cited” something he pulled out of the air or somewhere.

DeSantis knows his Floridaman audience well and caters for them, just like so many other Trump Republicans do. The far right have long given up trying to reach 'reasonable' people.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

DeSantis knows his Floridaman audience well and caters for them,

Should they cater to Biden or AOC and give up the last bastion of freedom they have?

just like so many other Trump Republicans do.

Yup!

The far right have long given up trying to reach 'reasonable' people.

Maybe the left should think about being rational, listen more, be more pragmatic, that would help for the discourse.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Right/GOP are hilarious.

They will go on and on about business owner's rights when it comes to who they do business with, providing healthcare equally to LGTB.... couples, birth control claiming the owner's rights and religious beliefs

Then they turn around and tell business owners they cannot require that people entering their businesses be vaccinated or use protection not to infect the owner or their employees.

Cons/GOP, swing anyway making zero sense.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

For him, "individual freedom." means "individual freedumb."

But still, being free to decide for yourself dumb or not is better than being controlled which is what the left want.

And he is a dumbbutt of the highest caliber for encouraging the virus spread and prolongation.

And yet, hospitalizations are going down. So he’s doing something right, more reason as to why people are moving to Florida, even liberals like this guy. Freedom changes people.

Is he willing to have the blood of half a million because of his gross neglect, lies and stupidity like his idol TrashTrump?

More liberal media talking point scare tactics. If that were the case people wouldn’t be moving to the Sunshine state.

Its called a smartphone.

Smartphones can be turned off or shielded, or just left at home. To control humanity, every human must be chipped. SARS, MERS, Bird flu, all can be tracked by satalittes, Bluetooth, 5G.
