A sensible appointment from Australia.

Rudd has been criticized as being too dovish on China in the past, but there is no doubt in his expertise, and it could be a good chance for China and Australia to rediscover some form of adult dialog and behavior. Just do a search of him on YouTube and have a listen to one of his many long form discussions for reference.

Reckon he’s a great choice for the job.

The Americans are going to wonder what they did to deserve such a bad-tempered blowhard on the embassy circuit.

And I pity the embassy staff, especially if they accidentally bring him the wrong dish for dinner. Kev was twice dumped as PM, once by his party and once - thumpingly - by the electorate, for being an insufferably arrogant smarty-pants way out of his depth. Maybe Albo just wants him out of Australia, no matter what the cost.

Nailed it.

As infantile as those who post ‘everyone knows’ or ‘nobody cares’.

Good question. Perhaps he will simply serve better as an ambassador to America at this juncture?
