How??

Let's see if that American loudmouth NRA jackass pushes this as a fear factor to solicit more NRA support money, like he has been doing for over 30 years. He's a criminal just these robbers.

Hey thugs, you's guys don't stand a chance theses days. Cameras everywhere recording your every move, people videoing you jerks on cell phones, hidden cameras, you name it, y'all idiots ain't got a chance. Do the crime, it's the end of yo sorry time.

Accidents and mistakes happen. Cops are people, they’re not perfect.
I don’t know about that, but it is sad.

Do cops in the U.S.enquire whether there is a hostage in the vehicle before they begin shooting?
I have been at a similar scene in my country and the first thing the cops always enquire from nearby witnesses is if there is there is a hostage in the vehicle. If the driver or occupant of the vehicle is in,the cops never open fire.
And in most cases the robbers will just get away and no bullets fired and later abandon the vehicle and ditch the driver unharmed and later or even on a different day the robbers will be apprehended or shot without collateral deaths.

Trying to make a getaway in a UPS truck is Darwin Award-level. If they'd been armed only with knives, the driver would likely have pounded them.

What a bungle by the cops! They figure the public will be happy to hear no police died, and pay no attention to the two innocent victims who are dead as a result of their incompetence!
I'm absolutely heartbroken over this senseless act of violence. All this driver was trying to do was provide a service to his customers and support his family. Now less than three (3) weeks before Christmas his family has had a son, brother, husband, father taken away from them...It just doesn't get any sadder than that.

I think so. Perhaps shot by the police or perhaps shot by one of the robbers when trying to disarm him. It might be better to wait for more information.

Guns guns guns, the American way.

"I'd be interested in learning how many bullet holes there were in the truck from front to back."
Approximately 200, fired by nineteen responding police officers...
Hervé L'Eisa
The robbers were bad people and got their just desserts. There were 2 innocent victims: the UPS driver and the bystander.

Do we even have to guess who killed the UPS driver trapped in the truck? These guys weren't 'killers' or the shop owner and his assistant would have been dead, I suspect. I'd be interested in learning how many bullet holes there were in the truck from front to back. But casual and careless 'collateral damage' is just how we do business in America anymore.

You know, I used to ride with a guy well known from my area ( Driver). After a UPS truck had been hijacked and the driver assaulted, ( during Christmas holiday) I asked the guy about bringing a gun with us driving, he said SURE.

Is this story ammo for the pro- or anti-gun lobby?

Correction, I meant “the first paragraph”, not the title, in the first comment that I made there. My mistake.

You know, when I read the title of this article, I thought to myself, “just when I thought America couldn’t get any weirder”. But after I read the article, it all made sense. I’m from a UPS family, my grandfather and one of my uncles were UPS managers, and I can only imagine what they will be thinking, once they find out about this.
