Jimizo, they got it wrong alright. And ordinary Europeans will be paying the price for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile the Merkels etc keep covering their asses and crushing dissenting opinions to the point of legislating through ridiculous "ant-islamophobia" laws so citizens can be prosecuted if they have the temerity to voice their concerns. Disgraceful.

"Live inthe system, abide by the system". Statements like that do wonders for your credibility.

What kind of democracy the EU have and practicing?

Why asking when you've no clue about democracy ?

This kind of tactic was used in the former Soviet Union and it's degrading against opponent

Ah, referring to the Trump administration :)

Many European countries could and should have prevented the rise of the far right with sane immigration policies.

An academic was quoted in the Guardian saying public opinion polls over the past 20 years consistently show the Swedes DON'T want increased levels of immigration. So what do the ruling govts do? They jack up immigration levels all that time, with shutting down public discourse.

And then.... the mainstream parties start losing at the polls to populists, and start the hang wringing, including calling some members of the public racists and bigots. The mainstream pols are reaping what they've been sowing.

The likes of Bannon are just throwing fuel onto a fire that was already blazing. Who’d have thought Sweden would see a far-right surge?

There always have been a extreme right-wing movement in Sweden with worshippers of the Austrian painter during WW 2 despite their neutral status.

The recent far-right surge comes as no surprise after decades of refugee and immigrant pampering by the Social Democrats.

Her leftist nemesis Jean-Luc Melenchon, the France Unbowed leader who once called Le Pen "half-demented", tweeted his "total disagreement" with the court order. "It's not these kind of methods that will drive back the far right," wrote Melenchon.

Exactly..

Comanteer

This is the frightening mentality that will allow fascism to rise again. The USSR sent dissidents to mental hospitals to be "cured" (i.e. to be locked up, tortured and injected with drugs until they really were mentally ill).

What fear-mongering tripe. In your very own Russia dissidents are still murdered and imprisoned. The law is Don Putin.

Psychiatric tests are the norm in France when convicted of certain things. Drink driving to start with.

The alt-right movement in France fizzled out like an 80 year old sans Viagra. It's the radical left people want to worry about.

I hope you'll be right, but honestly the support coming from outside (US-Bannon, Russia, obviously to break Europe) to the extrem right groups is worrying.

Many European countries could and should have prevented the rise of the far right with sane immigration policies. In my own country, the UK, leaders from both major parties admitted they got this wrong.

And it was all perfectly legal and according to the law. Live in the system, abide by the system. I was just following orders....

Obviously many people are terrified of what is beingdone in the name of Islam/IS--call it what you will.

She should be sentenced to 6 months working in Pauline Hanson's fish and chip shop.

"In some alternate reality maybe the Justice system is same for all, In the current French reality the Justice system is a reflection of the people who want and have no problem with the Daesh (IS) immigrants."

what do you mean by Daesh (IS) immigrant ? anybody that looks a bit less white than marine ? or people with a known record of IS activity ? because the second ones are all in jail...

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Justice system is same for everybody ! But she will always say it's some political scheme to silence her and so on, then says they are all cheating and it's not fair and go pouting in her room.

But this is a decision from the tribunal, it's not political.

Eppee,

It’s newsworthy for the mainstream media - keeping the right wing bogeyman (or woman in this case) alive.

Le Pen got buried in the ‘16 runoff with pitiful voter turnout. The FN will be like the French communist party before long, AGM in a public phone booth.

She posted on her twitter (which was not with limited access) a video/pictures of the James Foley beheading. This is an infraction in France, in this situation, by law the judge has to order the psychiatric evaluation to ensure the citizen is sane. Nothing deserving all this attention.

The French people have been brutally attacked by outsiders-the reality that Le Pen has shown is being covered up by Macron the globalist!

Tbf, Valls & Cazeneuve, then PM & minister of the interior (in 2015), are the ones who alerted the police re MLP's tweets/pics, not Macron.

Political vendetta & french red tape.

Who says the French have no sense of humor. Lol....

Another Putin stooge. Pretty clear reading the farm hands above. She was over before she began, really.

Toodles....

What is France turning into?

1 ( +7 / -6 )

Reminds me of the old Soviet communist ploy of declaring people who publicly criticize them as mentally ill.

LePen might be wrong about plenty of things (she's something of an economic leftie, FWIW), but she's bang on target about the danger of IS.

Psychiatrist : What do you see when you look at this image ?

Le Penn : I see the destruction of two thousand years of Judeo-Christian er...Christian European culture by the combined forces of world Jewry er ... Globalists and Islam.

Psychiatrist : Mmm, interesting. Everybody else sees a kitten.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

While I don't agree with all of Le Pen's views, I believe she and others are correct to be seriously concerned about atrocities committed by the Islamic State group.

This order is ridiculous.

9 ( +16 / -7 )

All extremists, whether left or right should undergo psychiatric tests.

Le Pen should have been locked up long time ago.

-4 ( +9 / -13 )

"Yep, This kind of thing feeds the far right and the narrative which pulls people in.!"

But this is a decision from the tribunal, it's not political. and the reason is "to establish whether Le Pen "is capable of understanding remarks and answering questions"." and if you heard any of her interview you know she never ever answers the question, always starts complaining about something else...so, i guess it's legit ?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

I can just imagine how mad she was... she has anger management issues like her father, not a bad call to send her for psychiatric tests.

"Not surprising. Those who are not afraid of speaking out these days on issues like immigration are usually silenced in one way or another from the lefties."

Justice system is same for everybody ! But she will always say it's some political scheme to silence her and so on, then says they are all cheating and it's not fair and go pouting in her room.

and you give way too much credit to "lefties", the left doesn't exist in France anymore these days, they don't have the power to do that.

Bannon is an amoral sack of crap, but he’s no idiot and knows a feast when he sees one.
