The level of political Inevitability to Marine Le Pen brand of conviction nationalism is undeniable.

A remorseless and uncompromising pursuit to convince the thirty percent of the electorate of France that doubt and question Emmanuel Macron leadership qualities and patriotism, to vote for Le Pen's vision, that reeks of isolation.

If Le Pen pulls this off and wins like Trump did, we are going to see some VERY VERY dark days ahead.  She will throw the EU into chaos;  which will then affect Japan, the US, and the rest of the world.  Macron is not a catch either, but if the choice is between him and Le Pen, he is 100 times better than she is.

There is little reason to doubt that Emmanuel Macron will be the next President of France.

All the same these are strange times. Britain's rejection of the European Union has been compared/linked to the Trump presidency. Maybe that is over simplifying, misplaced political belly button gazing.

My Father has this irrational streak of obstinacy. Grandfather has the same intransigence, invariably raging to the fore when politicians sanctimoniously insist and demand that voters comply to political no-choice electoral theory. Marine Le Pen is without doubt anti EU, offering French people a referendum that would be roundly rejected . Marine Le Pen as President of France would also ditch the single currency. The Le Pen agenda is to dismantle EU political union, along with federal integration. It would be a economic and political damaging for the European Union or the single market to collapse.  So Marine Le Pen would hold the EU to ransom unless huge political change did not take centre stage.  

Marine Le Pen, ultimately though harbours a deeply discriminate loathing of Jews and Muslims, this fact alone renders Marine Le Pen totally unsuitable to hold political office.  At its core, the rawest form of Racial hatred.

At any other time it would be laughable to imagine Marine Le Pen ever reaching the second round especially when EU core economies are showing some genuine signs of recovery. I am not suggesting that unemployment is not unacceptably high and sovereign debt is sustainable.

What is troubling, Emmanuel Macron does not exude the qualities of statesmanship. His performance as economy minister was inept and uninspiring. Emmanuel Macron is a political novice that 12 months ago any suggestion becoming the next President of France was unthinkable. Yet here we are, Emmanuel Macron now the only choice to prevent Marine Le Pen entering the Elysee Palace.

Both my Father and Grandfather supported the UK remaining in the EU, however that was through gritted teeth, and no thanks to Tony Blair, David Cameron, George Osborne, or Nick Clegg.

Le Pen is not anti Europe but she is certainly anti the undemocratic EU institutions that leave little choice for MEPs to debate, refute or reject the reams of regulations that are proposed at the at the sitting of every parliamentary session.The truth is that Europe has been and is being dominated by big business at the the expense of the individual.A referendum proposed by Le Pen is giving choice to people not taking it away! People in the U.K. voted to leave due to a lack of say in their lives-let's see what the people of France say?

That's literally the only thing MEP's do all day long, debate and vote up or down.

The better complaint is that MEPs cab only reject legislation rather than directly propose it, but the member states set it up like this way precisely because they were afraid that it could undermine democracy within their own parliaments.

Not true. The biggest complaint big business has is that they have less influence over the EU than they do over their national politicians. This is why certain special interests in the UK are looking forward to backroom deals that will be possible after Brexit. It's clearly easier to get a few national politicians in your pocket rather than hundreds of MEPs that don't even know who you are and have zero constituents employed by your big business. Even Rupert Murdoch has said that the problem with the EU is that Downing street gives him exactly what he wants, but Brussels ignores him.

Marine Le Pen's father reached the second round 15 years ago and he wore his values on his sleeve rather than Marine who slimily tries to soften them. Another trash right noisemaker will no doubt pop up again in a decade or so if Le Pen slopes off after a hiding.

Bah she was never going to go quietly. Thankfully, she's just preaching to the converted at this stage. The only slender hope she has is people not voting against her.

It's not unusual for politicians who are actually running for public office to actively campaign for that office. Unfortunately, the authors of this story seem to object that someone might actually campaign against their personal choice of Emmanuel Macron.
