Trying to do the right thing, but ending up with the wrong solution that creates more waste and costs. It is about the optics.

In college, I worked at a regional fast food place that used silverware, reusable plastic cups and throw-away foam plates. Every few months, the store had to buy more silverware. Eventually, they switched to a "don't clean your table" model and hired bus boys to clean tables when people left during peak times, but would have other staff do it during non-busy times.

Lots of European countries have a rebate return system for plastic stuff. They make the money returned high enough that people actually do return it.

One of the first steps countries can do is to not allow use of plastics that cannot be recycled and to make the company producing the final product accept the extra was for recycling, for at least 10 yrs longer than the expected lifespan or 50 yrs for durable items like house appliances.

Why this is not top news? It is great news. I take my own washable chopsticks when I eat out.

Come on Japan....time to step up and do similar things....charging for a plastic bag isn't enough. Need to end the culture of waste and excessive consumerism in Japan. Boycott Amazon too....it's good for your health, and bank balance.

I'll give up tik-tok before I give up using plastics.

You first. I'll pass.

France's future pay per dustbin scheme is also insanity . The beautiful countryside will surely become a dumping ground for people who surely pay enough taxes already. We are governed by well meaning elitist fools.

Frankly Rodney, thats one of the most bizarre and sad things I've ever heard.
