Something that will actually lower the number of abortions.

Pro-lifers could offer something like this instead of taking rights away.

Pro-choice governors could offer something like too this instead of tossing babies in the trash.

Why not all women? Contraception has been free for women in the UK for years.

Or maybe “some” abortions shouldn’t be used as a form of birth control

In the U.S., former President Barack Obama's signature health reform, known as Obamacare, gave most people with health insurance free access to birth control.

But his successor Donald Trump scrapped the measure, allowing employers to opt out of providing contraception coverage on religious grounds -- a decision upheld by the Supreme Court in 2020.

News from France.....still these people are looking for Trump in the USA.... Such a pathetic situation here!!!

Where is the President of USA? The Holy Biden..... Hiding under bed after Afghanistan..? come out baby........ say nothing to say about contraceptives' in France??? Please...

With rights come responsibilities, I always thought.

Interesting that several governments have Santa Claus and the tooth fairy paying for this stuff to make it “free”.

Oh wait, you mean to say general tax payers are taking responsibility for paying to make this “free”?

Cutting off the benefit to women older than 25 seems ill considered. Men and women don't stop having relations after that age.

Next step make tampons free for women. It's not like they have a choice in the matter is it, kind of a tax on being a woman.

No free but there should not be a sales tax or VAT imposed on them. There is actually a movement in the US to repeal sales taxes on feminine hygiene products.

Or maybe you could mind your own business. I've never understand why people like you want to control the body of a woman who lives thousands of miles away and doesn't even know you.

If you are anti-abortion, then don't have an abortion. That's your choice.

free sanity products for all women

This is an unfortunate (if funny) typo.

Good on France! I have a feeling abortions will decrease even more in France, thanks to these measures.

Or maybe “some” abortions shouldn’t be used as a form of birth control

Why is "some" in quotes? How frequently do you think women are getting abortions? Not that often.

Or maybe you could mind your own business. I've never understand why people like you want to control the body of a woman who lives thousands of miles away and doesn't even know you.

I'll tell you why: It's about subjugating women, it's about shaming them for their sexuality. Only men are allowed to be promiscuous- not women.

I don't particularly care if abortions are used as birth control. I doubt that they are, but it is absolutely none of my business. It's none of yours either.

Yep.

It's always fascinating to me how the greatest number of screamers against contraception, abortion, and this in general are men. And the classic argumentative foul argument to this is "but the man is involved in conception too". Why do men always have the biggest problem with this.

I didnt help you irresponsibly make it (if you didnt want it), so why would I?

, but DAMNED if we are going to help you raise it.

I didnt help you irresponsibly make it (if you didnt want it), so why would I?

You're the one who is saying life is precious and needs to be cared for.

That counts after birth, as well.

Put up or shut up.

So you obstruct them from getting the support they need, then prevent them from getting the support they need.

The far right - keeping it classy.

obviously its impossible to get an abortion every day.

choosing the word "frequently" is a way to try to act like it doesnt happen much. I gave you 127 in one day, in one clinic.

Thousands of people get a driving license every day. That doesn't mean that those same people are regularly getting driving licenses.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

what government "support" would 2 people need to not create an unintended pregnancy?

So you obstruct them from getting the support they need,

The word "frequently" is what you were responding to. I'm sorry if you're unhappy with how the English language works, but that is the language this forums uses.

I gave you 127 in one day, in one clinic.*

Okay. That doesn't tell us anything with regards to frequency, though. Is that a lot? Is it a little? Is it average? What is that as a proportion of women in Texas? Do you know? Did you check?

Who said "government"? You guys are creating governmental opposition, we aren't talking about government support.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Birth control would be pretty good. Which is what France is doing for women up to the age of 25. But you're opposed to it.

Why?

If you want to reduce abortions, a great way to do it is to not get pregnant. Which birth control does.

So why not support it?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

then what support are people not getting? and from whom in order to not create an unintended pregnancy?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

cared for by the people who chose to create it. simple.

why would I or the government bear this responsibility?

You're the one who is saying life is precious and needs to be cared for.

The post is about the birth pill for French women. What do you say on the topic?

It is a very good and much better choice to prevent unintended pregnancy. to prevent the need for such a "casual" abortion as liberals seem to be promoting as some perverse form of birth control.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

If you want to reduce abortions, then comprehensive sex education and free birth control (in the form of the pill, condoms, and other things) are proven to be effective, and make people's lives better.

But, if you just want to punish women for having sex, then the best way to do that is to limit sex education to "abstinence only", make birth control hard to get, make abortions illegal, and refuse to give support to mothers after the child is born.

I wonder which one seems more in line with the religious right. A goal of reducing abortions, or of punishing women?

Hmm. A real head scratcher.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

its "casual" enough for people who think abortion is just another form of birth control to erase an unintended pregnancy after the fact.

Liberals support pretty horrific things these days, to eliminate a human life just because you couldnt be bothered to not use readily available forms of birth control BEFORE sex, but only after?

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

liberal word twisting. I said you have no business having "sex as fun" without consequences like you proposed.

I actually said that each person has responsibilities and you shouldnt be sleeping with people who you cant see yourself having a child with in the first place. Then you chimed in with I just do it for fun, doesnt matter with who, YOLO irresponsible attitude.

"abstinence only, sex isn't fun and no-one should do it"

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

none of my business. It's none of yours either.

This is true to the extent that tax payers aren’t generally funding this stuff.

It is wrong for tax payers who don’t agree with this stuff to be coerced into funding it through the tax system.

If it’s other people’s business they can pay for their business themselves.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

then please explain to me why an abortion would be necessary, outside of criminal acts, if "no one is doing this".

everyone is taking birth control if they dont want a child, and not casually sleeping around. yet unwanted children are being created who are then killed by abortions every day. How does this happen if nobody doing this?
