Use of chemical weapons?? Well I do hope that idiot Assad does try something, so the international community, NATO etc..let Assad and his goons become nice training for the newest weapons that NATO/the USA have to test and what better way than to go after Assad and all of these low down criminals, cowards dressed in civilian clothing but killing men, women and children.

I agree. Let's hope Assad will make a speedy departure and let the Syrian people get their lives back and they can start and make a new beginning.

let the Syrian people get their lives back and they can start and make a new beginning.

The more likely scenario is that Syria will become a failed state, like Lebanon, with patches of territory run by various armed factions and a government in name only.

Why should the US,Europe or NATO get involved in syria??? the US,Europe and Nato alies have not done a very good job in the ME so far...Iraq is a mess since the US invasion there,Afghanistan is in turmoil with Nato bootsd on the ground there since the US?Nato Occupation,Lybia is still as screwed up as ever,Egypt is no better off than before the regime change efforts. IMO The ME will solve there own problems..The Saudi's should be putting presure on Syria and China and the russians have influence in the region...I do not see ANY mid eastern country trying to make alliances with the western world.Let them destroy there own countries...They will come seeking our oil dollars once the ashes settle.

France recognizes the Muslim Brotherhood as "legitimate government"..... the idiocy continues.

Those two claims are not only unrelated, but also contradictory. Do you serioulsly believe that e.g. the Christian and Alevite minorities in Syria will "get their lives back" under the Muslim Brotherhood Shariah dictatorship that would replace Assad?

Good grief!

So the people who only two weeks ago were throwing postal workers (whose only crime was collecting a government paycheck) off of buildings, now get to form a government.

The Christians in Syria will be in serious trouble if these extremist rebels get to form a government.

Already Christians aid agencies can't even reach Christian communities inside rebel-held Syria because rebel snipers shoot anyone who enters or leaves. The Christians are essentially barricaded in and left to starve to death.

Hollande is an incompetent fool. His lack of experience is once again chillingly apparent.

Mr.Hollande has a good heart, France is trying to do the right thing, so maybe NATO can try and learn from France.

US will probably recognize neither sides.

Problem is, the US is rapidly becoming irrelevant.Who cares who they choose to recognise?

In Washington, American officials said the French call for a Syrian provisional government wasn’t coordinated with anyone else, and that the U.S. wouldn’t echo the statement anytime soon. The officials called it premature to speak about a provisional government when Syria’s fractured opposition hasn’t even agreed yet on a transition plan. The U.S. officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

US has been very carefully monitoring the situation to make a call on this situation as we are now stuck with Afganistan. Too inmature to make any calls. Too many issues, stakes are involved.

I should add this to my post above, currently US has been spending 2 billions a week just for a war in Afganistan. Besides, that is not including human casualties killed and injured in recent wars.

We need a president who understands this.

I am not in favour of this. It is very possible an Islamist regime run by the Muslim Brotherhood or their friends might take over. Then again, this is what happens when Le Pen or Sarkozy lose.
