It blows me away that there are still people out there deluded enough to think preaching abstinence works. Talk about low intelligence, and complete obliviousness to how the world actually works outside their delusion.

BS. My parents never introduced me to any of the hobbies or academic pursuits that interest me. And anyone who thinks they have to be introduced or taught about sex to think about it and maybe engage in it is disconnected from reality. Humans are inherently interested in it and at a certain age the little head starts talking a heck of a lot louder than the big head. In any event all of your friends are thinking about it and some are having sex themselves. That's reality.

Yep. Not the sign of someone able to think for themselves but instead follows the herd wherever it's going while parroting the party line.

My dad didn't give me a baseball bat. He gave me a small packet for self-protection.

I went to Catholic school. They told us how great sex was, God wanted us to have lots of sex, (and kids) but that it was immoral, we were going to Hell, pregnancy would ruin our lives and we'd die of an STD.

14 year old me thought "Noted. Always wear a condom. That solves 2 of the 3 and I don't really think the 3rd is a real thing."

Pretty sure that's not the message that they wanted me (and almost all of my "good" Catholic friends) to take, but take it I did.

The idea that providing teens the means to keep themselves healthy makes them have sex is as stupid as saying "If you give them seatbelts, they'll just speed."

In the history of humans, 1% haven't had sex when they were told not to. That 1% were physically prevented from having sex by location. Everyone else did.

Heck, even I, a good Catholic alterboy had sex before marriage ... and before I was a legal adult.

There's what prudes believe and there's the other 99% of the world where reality is ... er ... real.

I only hope that someday other countries follow the example from France in this specific instance, though I'd just make all birth control included in all medical plans for everyone, with the option to have 10 yr birth control implants for legal residents and mandatory for illegal residents or asylum seekers.
