Whatever one thinks of the Monarchy, this woman is without her rock after 81 years since they met. I cannot imagine the loss. Her Majesty has my condolences

I also remember after the late George Bush lost his reelection bid in 1992 and his mother died of brain cancer a month later. Some journalists wrote trash editorials lambasting him as a 'whimp' and 'crybaby'. That was totally uncalled for. Major uncool, man.

Yeah, that’s very true, actually forgot about that one. We sometimes forget these people were once children of someone else, we forget that important fact. When you think about it, it’s scary. The Queen won’t be around forever, but as long as I have been on this planet, I only know Queen Elizabeth and her late husband. Can’t even imagine Charles on the throne, but if it happens it will be a short reign.

What a picture. So sad. God bless her.

Yes it is.

73 years. If that’s not commitment, I don’t know what is. RIP.

How many marriages or commitments last 73 years or even 7? Or 3? They had a really good thing going.

Saddest thing to watch. That family just through so much when you think about it. That photo of her alone will be a lasting image for generations to come.

And look at Prince Charles, he's crying

What? Are you serious?? Strange statement. His father just died! Why wouldn’t he cry?

Not a strange statement and certainly not a mockery. Maybe I said it wrong. Charles is simply doing what is natural to do. I'm not poking fun at him one bit, it's an observation. That's all. It's a normal reaction.

Of course it's also a historical iconic picture. Future kings do cry. Big boys do cry. I remember Rosie Greer telling me that on TV when I was just a kid. And he was more than right.

I also remember after the late George Bush lost his reelection bid in 1992 and his mother died of brain cancer a month later. Some journalists wrote trash editorials lambasting him as a 'whimp' and 'crybaby'. That was totally uncalled for. Major uncool, man.

What? Are you serious?? Strange statement. His father just died! Why wouldn’t he cry? He was very close to his dad. I lost my dad a few years ago, I’m still devastated because I loved the guy to death and he was my hero and some people are more visibly emotional than others and it’s ok to show emotion. Whatever you want to think about Charles or this royal family in general they do love each other deeply even if they don’t show it publicly.

As the Queen herself said, some years ago: "Grief is the price we pay for love". Prince Philip was a wonderful member of the royal family, and he will be sorely missed. It was a solemn but well-staged private (not state) funeral, and it was a good send-off.

The photo depicts a desolate grieving loneliness. A melancholy mournful Monarch.

Family, grandchildren will gather round, ease the loss.
