I know druggies in the USA, Europe, here in Japan etc...do not want to hear it, but your drug use is SPONSORING all of these crazy, Satanic narco mafias in Mexico etc...because every time you pay $$$$ for drugs from Mexico or that had to go through Mexico to get to your town or city in Somewheresville, USA well, this kind of thing had to happen in Mexico etc..to get you all your nice natural drugs from south of the border.

Right. Americans look with horror at the disaster to the south and make all kinds of cultural aspersions. But they are the ones sponsoring it. There would be no drug lords in Mexico if Americans weren't such big consumers. Americans are to blame.

It often seems like those who blame drug users for the evil actions of the drug cartels are the same people who simultaneously blame cigarette companies instead of smokers and gun dealers instead of criminals.

It is for this reason, that durgs SHOULD NOT BECOME LEGAL. Do you honestly think that businesses that would conduct such brazen actions on public streets, would actually adhere to the laws concerning taxation if their product were to become legal? These guys are killing off the competition for things as little as routes to use to get the drugs to the US. I doubt very seriously that they will be willing to pay 35% to the government, and also pay the health care and social security taxes on their many employees in "somewheresville" throughout the US and other countries.

Maybe they should start putting up "Wanted, Dead or Alive" posters for grug gang members.

Great Point.

No, I'm not. I am blaming middle to high class white America who are willing to pay for such drugs who are supposed to be the so called educated bunch. They are not the victims, they are in fact center of the problem.

I tend to agree with that. The image in my head is of a guy with a machine gun killing people suddenly getting into a business suit and making a sales call...heh. If they're to the point where there's killing people by the dozens I just don't get why people think they will have any motivation to follow the rules of trade. They're used to going after their competitors to get a larger share of the market and I don't see how legalizing it would change situations like that.

Maybe one solution would be to have the government be the only buyer and seller. The dealers could be registered and under contract, plus obvious stipulations to disarm and allow for inspections. But at the end of the day you're dealing with people who would torch a competitors' warehouse and kill their staff at will, so I can't really see how that mindset would suddenly change.

American drug use ? Most of the marijuana in America comes from Canada. Do you see Canadians killing each other like flies?

@SuperLib: America does that now, it's called Diplomacy with a lot of two-bit dictators in the world.

Everyone seems to think it is the "hood rats" in the inner cities that are fueling the drug business in America. Charlie Sheen's latest escapades show that it affects all levels of society.

USA well, this kind of thing had to happen in Mexico etc..to get you all your nice natural drugs from south of the border.

As was going to say something along the lines of what SolidariTea said, Canada sells large amounts of Marijuana to the US, and yet you don't see beheadings, street blockades and the army attacking drug kingpins. So I don't see why those kind of things had to happen in Mexico.
