Whether or not Moscow is at war with anyone should not force other countries to be isolated. But since Moscow insists on being at war, do you really want to be isolated with them?

What polls?

Two years of war were enough for the Georgian people, the Georgian authorities, and the Georgian oligarchs to understand that they do not want a second "Ukraine" in their country. The Georgian people read not only Wikipedia and the Ukrainian Insider. Georgians speak Russian and can read news from Russian sources and COMPARE it! Georgians have realized how dangerous it is to dance to the tune of the overseas bosses. Georgians, you did well! Good on you!
Zaphod
.....and following that, Nato membership? If they want another Ukraine, go ahead. But I doubt the Georgian population is really that stupid. (Some, who are fallling for Western propaganda, are of course.)
ClippetyClop
What does that mean? Another Russian invasion?
Do you think the people of Georgia would be better off within the wealthy and prosperous EU or an impoverished Russian federation?
Final question, what is it with MAGA and Putin? Are you contractually obliged to simp for murderous autocrats?
proxy
@ClippetyClop
That is a good question. The economies of the EU are failing and Germany is deindustrializing while extremists in the Netherlands and the UK are placing hard rules against farming.
The Russian economy is booming.
Joe
The Russians are in a desperate strategic position and will do anything to escape the quicksand that put in the moron waltzed into.
Joe
Lol 21% interest rates, but sure. That boom you hear is a slow motion collapse.
ClippetyClop
Russia isn't booming, The EU isn't failing. EU membership guarantees prosperity. Putin guarantees impoverishment.
I see you ignored the question about why MAGA, and you, are so enthralled by autocratic warmongers.
Zaphod
Clippety
Really? Then why are the wealthiest European countries not in the EU?
Jimizo
Director behind the camera making gestures to tone it down a bit.
Jimizo
Who are you thinking of here?

@Joe
Typically, strong growing economies have high interest rates and week anemic economies have low or ZIRP interest rates.
Zaphod
Jimizo
Switzerland and Norway of course. Seriously, you need to ask???
Jimizo
Can you provide the metrics which you are using to describe Russia’s economy as ‘booming’?
Primusinter
I can't understand at all, what does Russia have to do with it? We are talking about the elections in Georgia. You, ClippetyClop, and your yes-men., you know very little about the history of relations between Georgia and Russia. There are currently no diplomatic relations between the two! And today Irakli comes out on this theme: there is no question of restoring relations! What kind of influence can Russia have on Georgia in this situation? And that's not what excites you, it's Georgia's independence in choosing its path that drives you crazy! All the advantages are in your hands! Open your markets for Georgian wine :) ClipppetyClop, what kind of wine will you run to buy???? Georgian dry wines are very popular in Russia. But you, pompous Western uneducatees, don't even have a clue about them. The main thing about Georgia for you and Co is to throw mud at Russia.
Impoverishment is not about Russia, remember it!

That is the dark side of so-called democracy, pluralism.
If the Parties have to try to please the same master (e.g. pro-Western), then you are safe. If each party befriends one side Russia/China, and the other the US, your country will be in chaos.
Small countries are always at risk of becoming battlefields for big countries.
Jimizo
Of course you need to ask.
You find with more partisan posters ( the avatars are often a roaring foghorn ) and those living in an alternate media bubble, they can be selective when backing up opinions. I find those in the alternative media bubble are incredibly sheltered from outside information.
Any poorer European countries outside the EU and any richer ones within it?
Any?

Georgia doesn't need pontificators.
Their country got hijacked pre-2008. The wounds are healing and that decent society has realized the future is not as a puppet, but to heal the wounds of that fractured society - and not being drawn in, used and abused, by the Atlanticists.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Hilarious. None of the colorfully describable Eastern European countries.
GBR48
Game over for Georgia. Looks like they will become a pro-Russian enclave as the Soviet Union reforms. The only way to prevent that would be to depose the Russian puppet Ivanishvili. Pro-democracy supporters are not good at that sort of thing. If you have a border with Georgia, you should consider offering safe harbour to those fleeing and then prepare to defend against future Russian aggression. As Donald would say, build a wall.
JJE
Abkhazia and South Ossetia have rights in Georgia.
Heal the wounds and apologize. Don't go down the dark path of others.

Also important to reflect that Joseph Vissarionovich was from Georgia (hometown Gori).
Recently the locals built a statue and put up a bust in memory of him.

If you lose an election, claim it was rigged/stolen, and it becomes illegitimate.
No.

And yet they are fine to dance to Putin's tune?
TaiwanIsNotChina
Because some ah will come kick your country down otherwise?
TaiwanIsNotChina
Their future is probably as a puppet of russia because NATO has enough on its plate throwing russia back from Eastern Europe.

Russia is spending 1/3 of its GDP on the military. That is not sustainable. Not only that inflation is at 12% and the base interest rate is 21%. This is not a country whose economy is booming.
JJE
Their future is as an independent neutral state. The disastrous Saakashvili era is in the past. Important thing is decent society has moved on and are forging a new path, that will hopefully heal the massive ruptures in that society.
First sensible move was holding the above to account. For crimes too. Look where he was once "governor" and it all becomes apparent.

....and where, in your mind, is Georgia located?
Primusinter
Haven't I written so incomprehensibly??? Georgia and Russia do not have diplomatic relations! How many times should I repeat it so that you understand? Kobakhidze said today that he has no plans to restore these relations! So, come on, come on with your proposals for Georgia. There has already been a proposal to open a second front against Russia. It(Georgia) would have had enough strength for three days, and then It could have gone into the mountains, into the forests to partisan, Bidzina Ivanishvili told to the world. For some reason, Georgia did not agree. And here you, our peace-minded experts, have proposed to dethrone Ivanishvili. Is it your business???
JJE
Moscow has said the Roki Tunnel will not be violated. And as such, 58th Army is on standby for any future defensive actions deemed necessary to solve national security objectives (including official peace keeping missions). They made this point clear in 2008.

I smell another American appointed 'legitimate President', or another armed mob staging a 'revolution' with some Americans joining it to 'restore democracy' by overthrowing it and then violently attacking any opposition.
Well, maybe the first, putting together a coalition of guys with a fetish for wearing symbols of the losing side of WW2 and people thirsty for unbridled corruption might be a little hard with the reality of what that leads to being played out over the last decade of war in Ukraine.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Ya gonna throw down Georgia's government, too? Going to be pretty tough for your maters in Peking to keep spouting they support territorial integrity.

Yes, there probably are some westerners in Georgia that can be abducted and tortured. A responsible leader would feel shame over such a thing.
