The destruction of artwork is nutty. I think museums are taking precautions but we shouldn't have reached this point where it became acceptable to attack art.

No artwork has been damaged but gluing themselves to famous works causes disruption for museum visitors.

Sounds even more nutty that some don't believe in climate change and/or doing anything about it. Or that our intensely exploitative industrial system is having deleterious effects on our living planet on which we are totally reliant for life and well-being.

They are most certainly that. And they’re damaging their cause. There is protest and civil disobedience. And there’s this.

This is banal criminality wrapped in self-righteousness.

And these climate activists know full well where to do these things and get only a slap on the wrist. You notice they never step foot in the country that is the World's biggest polluter.

I seem to recall a protest a few months ago in Munich at the... VW? BMW? Museum. The protesters did their usual tantrum, glued themselves to the floor. The staff responded by shutting off the lights and heat, closing the doors, and leaving them to rot. Didnt take long for the protesters to start squealing and wanting to be rescued. IMHO this is the best approach. Let them stand/sit glued to whatever. They will get uncomfortable and frustrated within hours, look like babies, and finally go home.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday sharply criticized climate activists as “nutty” for drastic protests such as blocking streets or gluing themselves to famous paintings in museums.

He is just stating the obvious. On the other hand, the green-dominated government that he represents, has bought fully into the climate agenda, setting Germany on the road to economic destruction in the process. So who is talking here...

Yep, extremism in all its forms - never wise path.

Well done Chancellor on calling out selfish attention seeking radicals!

Art is for pleasure and thinking. It's creation. You don't win others to your cause whatever it may be by vandalizing artwork.

Climate change and pollution IS a #1 problem no matter what people like the ill-mannered Caligula Spankee Dee says. It's as plain as the nose on somebody's face. These 'activists' need to go after these jerks and leave our museums alone and quit disrupting traffic in the cities.

One time in America a bunch calling themselves the 'Environmental Liberation Front' trashed a garage full of cars in every way imaginable. And they spray-painted their logo all around too. Mass vandalism, adding to pollution in order to fight pollution! Yeah, go figure. Dum dum-dum-dum DUMMMMMMBBBBBBB!!!!!

Laughable comment. Continuing with the current energy portfolio will lead to utter destruction. The only way to protect our economies is to transition away from fossil fuels as rapidly and completely as possible. Unless of course you want to see the world's coastal cities swamped by rising oceans (bye-bye Tokyo and Shanghai for example) or are fond of the kinds of wildfires recently experienced by Australia, California, Spain and even the UK.

some climate activists' protests 'nutty'

Some of the protests might seem 'nutty', but to me it's even nuttier that many who disparage what the protesters do ignore the environmental problems being done to all forms of life on earth.
