found a receptive audience in the eastern states for their criticism of the government in Berlin and of military aid to Ukraine.

The Nord Stream pipeline was German civilian infrastructure, delivering gas to heat homes in Germany.

Energy prices are sky high in Germany because of that terrorist attack which we now know can be traced to Ukraine.

An election victory for the AfD would be a landmark in Germany's post-war history.

And a great step forward for Germany and its people.

There's been a lot of going back and forth in Europe recently. The French bricked it when they saw the initial popularity of Le Pen, then got their act in order and locked her party out.

I think it's basically cyclic. Swings far in one direction, comes back to the centre, goes the other way, repeats.

Energy prices are sky high in Germany because of that terrorist attack which we now know can be traced to Ukraine.

People used to be ashamed to lie so blatantly. Guess that's another effect of the internet.

Good. Next they can remove people who do not follow the laws, customs and societal norms of Germany.

Does that include Germans?

Does that include Germans?

Absolutely. Why wouldn't it?

Where would those German citizens be removed?

The minute I hear the words ‘far right’, which the way it is used these days tends to be used in a deliberate, yet ridiculous manner, I know someone with a pen, doesn’t like another someone else. Two word hit piece. That simple.

You guys seriously need some new material. Grab your thesaurus or something please. Populism? Fascism? wait, my favorite, Christian fundamentalism! Hadenoughisms? It’s like an Orwellian shopping list.

sorry, not buying.

Far-right AfD. Nazi ideology. Maximilian Krah, AfD's top candidate for the European elections, sparked outrage by saying he didn't see all Nazi SS members as criminals.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

But even if the AfD does come out on top in the elections, it is unlikely to come to power because other parties have ruled out working with the far right to form a government.

Refusing to work with others should be grounds for revoking political party license. Politics is all about compromise and negotiation. If a party Refuses to negotiate, they're not a political party, but instead a religion.

The president should be authorized to force parties to act like grown-ups and negotiate with everyone. And if not, then to put parties in govt by percentage of vote (eg SDP 20%, Cdu 18%, Afd 10%, greens 5% = 53% for presidential mandated govt).

Excellent news.

The majority of Germans don’t support the ADF.

Good news.

“ And a great step forward for Germany and its people. “

Well said.

I just lived there for a couple of years. The majority of people there don't vote for the "far-right" but it's a vote against the incompetence and authoritarianism of the Greens. The "far-right" is the only party which will insure that the Green party is not coming again into government through the back door by a coalition. The majority of Germans, including in the West hopes, that the Greens will be kicked out of the local governments altogether.

Where would those German citizens be removed?

Where do you usually put Germans citizens who break the law? Germans citizens would be removed to jail just like any other country.

That happens every day in Germany.

Dialing back your comment you also said.

"customs and societal norms of Germany."

What are those and there are no laws about not following them?

Yeah, if they've learned nothing from what happened in the 1930s. The past is prologue.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

First, they aren't far right, but only center right, as the former center right has strongly moved to left before. And second, the final or really effective result will be a big paradox such -and even enjoy you more than before-, that the governing center lefts will now form , or feel being forced to do, a coalition with the also strengthened extreme lefts and communists, for keeping their majority and blocking the electors' sentiments and that grown center right party. Sounds difficult, but it means in short words, that everything even moves farther left, in contrary to what the voters expressed. Just only feel relaxed or betrayed, according to your preferences, in fact nothing at all will change.

The majority of Germans don’t support the ADF.

10.3% of the vote. Support can vary regionally, with higher percentages in some eastern German states compared to western ones. But the party is growing and as things continue to deteriorate in Germany that number will go up.

no, because germany closed all 17 of its carbon free nuclear power plants, increasing the demand for gas and keeping coal in the generating grid.

Traced to Ukraine? You mean the Nordstream pipeline that Biden actually announced his government would sabotage it?

(Biden in Feb 22: "If Russia invades, there will be no longer a Nordstream II. We will bring an end to it. I promise we will be able to do this.")

And, if you know any professional divers, please ask them if it is possible for 4 divers on sailboat to destroy a concrete encased, armored pipeline at 150 m depth...)

Absolute nonsense. There is nothing "Nazi ideology" in their platform, in fact it is practically identical to what both traditional parties had not so long time ago, before they turned extreme left.

I don´t know about Krah, but seeing the mainstream media modus operandi, it is safe to assume it is another out-of-context talking point.

Very true. I am old leftist, but today my views about free speech, against point-of-view discrimination, equality under the law, etc. would make me a "far right extremist" in the parlance of CNN, BBC, etc.

They got the betraying their country and hostility to other races and religions down.

So left you support the far right?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

They got the betraying their country and hostility to other races and religions down.

That doesn't mean they are racist. Just because you don't want your country to be overwhelmed by the Islamic fate does not make you a racist. If Christians by the thousands migrated to Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Iraq, do you think the Muslims would allow a growing Christian presence to take over their country?

That's not how democracy works. Any party can form or be a part of a coalition that has a majority. Oc course, you aren't going to form a coalition with a party whose values are opposed to yours.

Thank you for your reply. I did say "should" when referring to the president stepping in if they couldn't work together to do a part of their job as politicians (pick a government). Further, cdu and sdp have worked together countless times, despite different values. Anyway, just my opinion.

@Mr Kipling and others who enjoy the election results in Germany

as for me this is disgusting, unbelievable.

Those 30 to 40% voting for the AfD and BSW must have lost their minds or at least their memory.

They have not learned anything from history, because that's the way it started with Adolf and associates.

Never again, they said .....

Even more, after roughly 30 years they have lived in a free, democratic Germany - do they really want to go back to a dictatorship the way it was in the GDR, living under a STASI government?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@ok1517

Germans are voting for more extreme parties due to stabbings, assaults and rapes being carried out by immigrants.

If you know anyone living in Germany then you would not be surprised by the reaction.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Not wonder. Germany is over all in a very bad state these days. As the Economist said this year: "A deep malaise has settled on the country. Four-fifths of Germans tell pollsters they are unhappy with their rulers. "

Germany's future grows dimmer and dimmer. The policies of recent govts, notably Merkel's, have firmly put one of world's best economies and societies on a downward trajectory. There's a similar trend in Canada right now under Trudeau. I'm glad I live in Japan, where policies on immigration, etc., are way more sensible and responsible.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Renewed hope for the Germans.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Zaphod & Sven,

the AfD is definitely "extreme right" as is the "JA" (Junge Alternative)!

Can find more than enough information on the internet, or just listen to them!

Concerning BSW (Buendnis Sarah Putainknecht) - she wants to go back under RuSSia's boot.

Of course, as a former SED member who joined that party during the last couple of months of existence she mourns the good old times, when STASI was still in control.

Get the facts right. Luckily, at least half of those former East Germans still know what has to be done, but it's not enough!
