Germany is expecting to receive 800,000 asylum-seekers this year, a record number and four times more than in 2014

No wonder they're outraged. I'd be hoppin' mad too. @ quadruple 2014 & expecting 800,000 refugees? I ain't saying I agree with violence and or committing hate crimes, but these germans certainly have every right to gripe.

what did you expect? the natives are constanly ignored and Brussel keeps sticking its head in the sand yea this problem is not gonna end peacfully its gonna be either the natives or the immrants not asylum seekers that would be a lie that will rule europe in the next 20 years.

The article is all about supposed "anti migrant" violence, but it never mentions the violence import with this tsunami of Middle Easter asylum seekers.

We have reports of Christians being thrown overboard on the overloaded "migrant" boats, school girls in Southern Germany are now being warned to "dress modestly" so as not to "confuse" the young muslim Arab men that are suddenly brought into Bavarian towns by the thousands, and we have reports of people being murdered in Asylum seeker tent cities for being accused of damaging a Koran.

Already Germany has a massive problem with a non-integrated muslim population; it looks like the government is hell-bent on turning Germany into the Middle East within a few years. A by-product of this is that Jews will be as welcome in German then as they are now in Syria, ISIS, and Iraq.

And press is wondering that people are unhappy about that??

Yes, thank you! It's these ME people who will spread radical islam into germany. Berlin doesn't want to see the the Charlie Hebdo incident in their country.

Germans! Protect ur borders. (wish obama would be doing this bck n' US).

yep just as predicted, the only way to stop this problem is to get tough, the EU should turn the refugee boats back before they enter international waters, itll save hundreds of lives and stop the growing problem of illegal immigrants. It has worked well for Australia and there has been no deaths from crossings since they got tough. Humanitarians will cry foul but there will be much bigger problems in the EU if they dont stop this flood soon.

I love how the article claims that the majority of Germans welcome these migrants by citing a tabloid. No poll, no objective survey. A tabloid, a piece of propaganda. Meanwhile Merkel has abandoned her country and exposed her open contempt for the native Germans. And this is Germany's conservative party! I feel very bad for the German people.

Burning refugee shelters is simply intolerable. To a man, each poster above changes the subject from this vile, neo-nazi terrorism to an anti-immigrant anti refugee screed.

I have nothing but loathing for the lot of you.

@Black Sabbath

Upset that people are waking up and not falling for propaganda? Gee, an arson attack on an unoccupied building. I guess that means Germany needs to accept millions of migrants and anyone who opposes that is a neo-nazi arsonist thanks to the guilt by association fallacy. Never-mind that these incidents pale in comparison to the hundreds of rapes, assaults, and murders that will be attributed to these migrants.

It's funny reading right-wingers making the same types of comments from the bubble about other countries' leaders that they make about Obama. Truly clueless.

but it's ok when foreigners try to make comments about about Obama, but for some reason, THEY DO have a clue? ROFL

Black Sabbath:

Nobody here excused the "burning of refugee shelters". But to claim that German citizens are are or should be generally happy about accepting illegal Middle Eastern immigrants at a mind-boggling clip of 800,000 a year (who immediately get plonked into the welfare system) is simply wrong. Just imagine 1,1 million aliens arriving in Japan expecting to be housed, fed, and their sensibilities accommodated. The numbers are simply mind boggling.

Yup. The japanese would flip-out. The authorities would never allow it. So why should the germans?

Agree with WilliB and what he says counts for the whole of Europe and not just Germany, many countries receive way more refugees than they expected and are prepared for.

Some camps are filled to 2-3 times their capacity.

But they aren't just immigrants are they, they are refugees.

What do you propose doing with them?

Strangerland:

" But they aren't just immigrants are they, they are refugees. " Actually, that is not so certain either. Countries mentioned in the article like Kosovo (which Nato bombed to smithereens to "liberate" it) and Albania are hardly at war, and isn´t Afghanistan to be pacified by now?

About refugees from Syria, wow about re-directing them to any of the several dozen of islamic countries in the region, where islamic customs are observed. It is pretty mind-boggling that they all want to travel half-way around the world to the infidel countries of Europe. The welfare system has nothing to do with that, you think?

And of course, our politicians should work to re-establish stable authoritarian regimes like Assad and Gaddafi in the region instead of supporting the islamists.

How many refugees should a host country take in? What would be the appropriate amount?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I don't know. I'm not up on the details of whatever accord (or whatever) that countries sign in regards to refugees.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Bass4Funk.

I know it is a mostly rethoric question but I think it should depend on current economy, population, etc.

Europe is getting refugees currently from Asia(ME), Arica, etc and most of those got a preferred destination.

My home country is not big and we have a small population(less than 10mil)., so how many can we accommodate/help?

Strangerland:

" don't know. I'm not up on the details of whatever accord (or whatever) that countries sign in regards to refugees. "

The number that Germany signed under in Brussels was 130,000. The arrrivals (up to now) are 800,000, and counting. Germany has a population of about 80 million. That means, this year alone, a population amounting to 1% of its total population has arrived and been added to its welfare roles. Do see a limit anywhere?

Again, for Japan this would amount to 1.1 million gaijins arriving here, ditching their passports, and claiming asylum.

I grew up half of my life in Germany and one thing that I can say is, the influx of refugees and a lot of crime that many of them bring in is a serious problem as throughout Europe, I am all for helping refugees, but just like with Mexico, many of these countries just don't care and rather to be burdened with fixing their own countries, social systems, corruption and economies and finding a better way to provide for their citizens, they just encourage their people to leave and seek a place that can help provide for them and the governments just wash their hands, as long as it doesn't disrupt their reigns or dictatorships why would they care. It's time to hold these governments accountable, but Europe and the US, Australia and Canada don't want to been seen as countries that are racists or cold or just don't care. The governments of the countries from where these refugees come from know this. And the host countries are tired of it, that is why you now see the far right getting louder and stronger throughout Europe and until the governments take action, you will see more protests and sadly more violence and possibly worse if action or amendments of the laws are not rectified.

Then to answer Bass' question, for Germany, 130,000.

And they should put a cap on after that, NO exceptions.

The Saudi Kingdom should accept those Syrian refugees, you know that civil war was kicked up by them. More Islamist refugees means more mosques required to be build and that caused more conflicts of culture .

elephant:

I understand the Saudi kingdom accepts zero refugees. However, they are happy to continue to support ISIS as well as financing Wahabi mosques in Europe, where the flood of ISIS created refugees goes.

To the apologists of neo-Nazi violence:

The subject of this article is the burning of a refugee shelter and neo-nazi violence against immigrants and refugees.

Your attempts to change the focus from the victims and the problem of German right-wing terrorism, to another problem is despicable.

I loath you.

Which was a tragic and horrific event and should have never happened.

Your attempts to change the focus from the victims and the problem of German right-wing terrorism, to another problem is despicable.

No, that is the focus, how the governments of the host nations stop walking around with guilt on their conscious that they owe these emerging nations for years of colonialism, which was inhumane, wrong and remorseful. Having said that, Europe has been doing it's best to accommodate many of these emerging nations financially, with reparations, accommodations, food, a generous social system and now it's time for their home countries to work and get their house in order and strengthen their economies, so that it doesn't give the people the incentive to leave in the first place, but if the these countries continue to keep their eyes closed and ignore the problem or are unwilling to do then none of these countries should get any financial assistance until they are willing to take action.
