quote: the plan breaks international law. The government argues it is justified because of the “genuinely exceptional situation.”

Are we talking about Johnson and Brexit or Putin and the invasion of Ukraine? Two untrustworthy nationalists who think that the law applies to everyone but them.

Under the circumstances you are delusional if you think the EU is going to roll over for this British violation of a treaty. If the Brits do not adhere to the terms of the treaty they signed there will be retribution from the EU.

Why not bringing the case to the ICC of Hague to solve it out? When western countries lecturing China must comply international laws, they should show the Chinese that ICC is a lawful way to solve political problems with teeth!

Desert Tortoise,

I neither support or condone Johnsons government for attempting to circumvent treaty law.

To a break, knowingly, this signed settlement is a breech of International Law.

I have not suggested that the EU should roll over, but both sides consider under the circumstances a negotiated reasonable compromise.

There is ample time to do so.

elephant200, ultimately the European Court of Justice will determine and rule on the outcome of UK governments actions. ECJ has jurisdiction over every aspect of EU law that may arise over the interpretation, implementation, application of  every facet of the signed Brexit agreement.

This is commonly known as bringing infringement proceedings.

Johnson shall NEVER comply with that ECJ, he knows UK doesnt have a stand over there!
