Sanctions, cold, poverty, increased migration, poor food…immune system will deplete and people willneed to get together in small spaces. What could possibly happen?

UK cases went up after kids went back to school and the funeral took place.

Restrictions are unlikely in the UK bar masks in hospitals and maybe on public transport, even if there is another peak. Truss is already so unpopular that Tories are mooting another leadership election. Taking down sterling is pushing up interest rates, which is increasing mortgage rates for the middle classes - the Tory voter base. Red flags everywhere in Toryville. Unpopular restrictions are not going to be high on the to-do list. Covid is endemic now and hybrid immunity levels are assumed to be good enough to see it function like flu.

I was in A&E last week and about a third of us were wearing masks. I was in and out in less than an hour and there were no ambulances queuing up outside. Friends have reported other A&E departments to be busier, but A&E departments have always been busy here.

Covid boosters and flu jabs are being rolled out in the UK, elderly and vulnerable first.
