It is now a pandemic with thousands of deaths worldwide and countries unprepared to cope...

Nations with decent healthcare programs covering the majority of their citizens should come out best. As will nations that have made healthcare for all a priority. Nations whose political leaders have allowed big pharma and big healthcare corporations to control which of their citizens are able to afford access to decent healthcare are at greater risk.
I feel fortunate living in Japan where I have had affordable healthcare. Knock wood the powers that are here are prepared should COVID-19 problems continue to spread.

Japan is not prepared.
The doctors and nurses I speak to are cancelling hospital events due to ....
’risk of infection’.
Hospital chiefs are advising against meetings.
So, if medical professionals are not able to protect themselves against infection then what hope for the people?

I read what was written differently; I read they're trying to protect themselves by being extremely cautious. They're being models for the rest of us.

My greatest fear is that stupid people will make this worse before it gets better. Stupid people being portions of the general public, patients, doctors, politicians, etc. It only takes a couple of screw ups.

It would help if the Democrats would stop politicizing the issue. I was surprised to hear Eric Swalwell Not jointing in on the partisan pile on. For once, good on him.
Nancy, Chuck hope you are listening.

What this saga illustrates is, trade with China carries a price.
IMHO, politicizing the issue favours Trump. It makes Trump's focus on 'national' trade looks like a genius move compared to dependency on the rickety global trade.
Global trade has deviated from its original mandate of lifting standard of living for all. It's now no more than mercantilism dominated by Chinese thieves. If global the system doesn't respond to the China threat there'd only be one economy left standing, ie China.

All the democrats know how to do is to fix the blame rather than fix the problem. Of course in their eyes, Trump is the problem no matter what he does. Can't wait to see them try to pin Trump as the cause of the virus.

Uh-huh.
"Low Ratings Fake News MSDNC (Comcast) & @CNN are doing everything possible to make the Caronavirus look as bad as possible, including panicking markets, if possible. Likewise their incompetent Do Nothing Democrat comrades are all talk, no action. USA in great shape!"
--Donald J. Trump
Media reports the facts as supported by health experts. Trump blames media and Democrats. Trump cultists re-bleat.

As painful as it may be in the short term, this is as good an opportunity as any to decouple China from the supply chain., and maybe re-engage once the CCP is history.
