The Republicans who continue to support Trump seem to be saying saying their idol trump should be above the law and it is OK to destroy evidence and public records that might in some way incriminate him or them. Thy fear the truth; instead prefer big lies. What was Trump hiding this time and what evidence did he ask his FBI and Homeland Security people to destroy.. Republicans used to be the 'law and order party' until they joined the Golfing Grifter's Cult. Thugs R them. By the way, Trump is no longer the US President, he clearly lost the election to Biden. Only his deluded followers believe his big lies, while many continue to tithe and give even moreof their money to the Church of Trump, a delicate male with an oversized ego who's just another telescamgelist in politician's golf attire. Something about 'fools and money'

He followed up with a fundraising appeal, making it personal by declaring "it’s important that you know that it wasn’t just my home that was violated — it was the home of every patriotic American who I have been fighting for.”

The only President in America to have lived off contributions from his not so bright voters.

Pathetic!!!

How fantastic

But still the have their apologists.

Seems some people just can't be helped

It's looking like there is zero chance that Trump will be able to run in 2024. Which is a shame, because he has a history of losing.

If he doesn't get charged in one of the many investigations into his actions, his reputation is in tatters after the Jan 6th committee. Murdoch doesn't like him; McConnell despises him and he's unlikely to be able to get a platform like Twitter or Fox News to air him constantly during election season.

To be honest, I'd prefer Trump over De Santis, who is a mean bully with zero ethics.

There’ll be people here shortly telling us “you see! I told you so!” As if this wasn’t expected anyway.

Yeah, because what America needs now is a civil war. Not. Dangerous words - did nobody learn anything from Jan 6th?

Trump Says the Feds Raided Mar-a-Lago: ‘They Even Broke Into My Safe!’

Evidently the FBI quickly cracked the main safe, which probably means there are default passwords only the FBI has.

The idea that the search of his mansion was politically motivated is ludicrous, but it shows both the conspiratorial mindset of much of the GQP following years of Trump indoctrination.

This was in fact exactly how Trump did seek to behave, and so it is assumed that all others stoop to this level.

And as this search has actually galvanized Trump's support (unsurprisingly), it was hardly effective.

The raid was done over three months away from the election so as not to interfere and while Trump was away, so as to reduce embarrassment for him.

All that remains to be seen was what was Trump concealing?

3 ( +13 / -10 )

If Trump weren’t running in ‘24, you think this would take place?

The Republicans who continue to support Trump seem to be saying saying their idol trump should be above the law

You mean the FBI.

and it is OK to destroy evidence and public records

He didn’t, back in January Trump and his team turned over 15 boxes of National archive documents. Also, during the raid, Trump was in NY at the time so there was no way he could have physically destroyed the documents in his possession. He had them for 2 years, so if he wanted to destroy them he would have done it a long time ago. The Feds can’t have it both ways.

that might in some way incriminate him or them. Thy fear the truth; instead prefer big lies.

Yeah? Like what?

What was Trump hiding this time and what evidence did he ask his FBI and Homeland Security people to destroy..

Ahhh, that debunked theory.

Republicans used to be the 'law and order party'

They still are. Remember when the Dems were beside themselves when they thought that Trump was going to weaponize the DOJ and FBI, well that never happened, but now this administration has crossed the line and has done exactly that.

By the way, Trump is no longer the US President,

Not now, but that looks like that might change because it seems now that the Feds just blew it, they could have subpoena Trump which would have been the first step in obtaining the documents. There was no legal justification to do a raid especially when the man is not even in the same state. If anything l, this helps Trump and the Republicans in general. I have never known a party like the Democrats that are so hellbent on destroying themselves politically.

-10 ( +11 / -21 )

The GOP needs to push for non-liars to run for office. I'm only seeking honest candidates, which seem to be lacking in the GOP - and in nearly all of my representatives.

There aren't passwords that only the FBI has, but when the FBI contacts a safe business, the plans are almost always made available. Lots of safes have plenty of weak areas, though the front always appears, well, safe. So, if the specific safe isn't easily opened by an expert with a microphone and "touch", then a torch would be used to cut into the least thick parts. Plus, the FBI doesn't need to worry about being caught and arrested, so they don't need to be silent and fast.

People in the data security business routinely practice lock picking. Each lock has a specific weakness, so of the thousands of models made, understanding the internals places a lock into a group and with practice, pretty much every lock can be opened pretty quickly. Some door locks are easier to pick than to remember the combination or insert a key. I bet there is training for FBI for safecracking, so with 1 look or more likely a phone app, the safe internal diagrams are made available to those people for the most popular safes.

If you want to secure information, keep it digital and use very strong encryption that only you retain the keys to access. We stopped using RSA keys in 2017 and switched to elliptic curve keys. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptic-curve_cryptography The best encryption uses 2 types. That for the data, which is symmetric (w-way) and that to unlock the data (aka the header) which uses longer, keys. Properly encrypted data looks like random data to any analysis effort. Every few years, there are reports about which encryption have been cracked by the best cryptologists anywhere. It is really easy to use extremely strong data encryption these days, but it is all the stuff around that encryption which is the weak point. Nobody can crack the front of a safe, but by going around the back, there are almost always weaknesses.

Apparently there was a deal finalized with a foreign government to buy some of these documents, that’s the reason for the FBI raid.

donald is hard up for cash, so much so that he cannot even afford to buy a burial plot for his ex wife and the DOJ is worried about national secrets being sold off to raise money!

-4 ( +10 / -14 )

Trump tried to overturn the results of an election. No amount of finger pointing and vilifying the other party can erase or deflect that, and no there is no equivalency that can match it, despite efforts from Trump’s supporters to try exactly that. All of this has happened because Trump did not and does not respect the institutions of his own country.

6 ( +14 / -8 )

The GOP is going to have a hard time finding a candidate for 2024, donald is heading for prison, there’s serious stuff about de santis coming out in the gaetz investigation, and pence , well he is pence!!!!

The establishment have overplayed their hand, and the backlash against them is going to be severe. First this November, and then in 2024. This raid is an inflammatory act by a bunch of paranoid sociopaths who still can't get over the fact that Trump won in 2016 and are desperate to make sure he can't come back. And to intimidate anyone who might try to buck the system.

Once the Republicans get control of Congress in November and the White House in 2024, they should go after whoever ordered they raids with the full force of the law and lock them away forever in solitary.

Much as Trump is a crook, I think that this is a conspiracy fantasy not far removed from the bizarre theories that the QAnon wing of the Republican Party is coming out with.

There's more than enough evidence of Trump's crimes without having to stoop to the level of Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The establishment have overplayed their hand, and the backlash against them is going to be severe.

The establishment? We are talking about the justice department and the FBI. The FBI, BTW is headed by Chris Wrey, a Trump appointee.

First this November, and then in 2024. This raid is an inflammatory act by a bunch of paranoid sociopaths who still can't get over the fact that Trump won in 2016 and are desperate to make sure he can't come back.

First of all, it isn't a raid. It's a search backed by a search warrant. Secondly, who are the paranoid sociopaths? We are talking about the FBI, not the Dems or the libs.

And to intimidate anyone who might try to buck the system.

Or, who may have done illegal things. You are speculating that Trump is innocent.

Once the Republicans get control of Congress in November

Pretty likely. Not much use without the Senate, though.

and the White House in 2024,

Unlikely.

they should go after whoever ordered they raids with the full force of the law and lock them away forever in solitary.

As the head of the FBI is a conservative Trump appointee, do you think that this was a deliberate false flag op by the FBI to destroy itself and strengthen Trump's hand?

Remember when the Dems were beside themselves when they thought that Trump was going to weaponize the DOJ and FBI, well that never happened, but now this administration has crossed the line and has done exactly that.

That never happened because the FBI and DOJ didn’t play along, not because 45 and his true believers didn’t try. Hope you’re not so far gone that you can’t comprehend that.

garland wanted no part of this, to the point of expanding upon Bill Barr’s “no investigation of parties to election” memo, because he knew he would be triggering some of the most dishonorable people the US has ever produced. There are Republicans who are so over Trump, and even more who just want him out of the way of their efforts to become President.

But they also know that Trump is incautious enough to have kept notes given to him in an effort to make him understand certain realities, things everyone 'knows' but doesn't admit, and definitely wouldn't normally allow to be committed to paper, especially paper with their name on it.

Of course they've unified around Trump and the effort to make sure those possible notes never become public, they're terrified that those notes might expose THEM

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who is gearing up for a presidential run of his own, said he shared “the deep concerns of millions of Americans” over the search of Trump's private residence.

Former CIA official Philip Mudd downplayed FBI agents finding classified documents in former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida during a raid on Monday.

It’s common for government officials to bring classified documents home with them accidentally because files are often “overclassified,” Mudd, a former deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center and the FBI’s National Security Branch, said during a CNN appearance on Tuesday. Therefore, the process of obtaining a search warrant for the residence of a former president would require much more than just seeking classified documents, he added.

“The chance the attorney general and the FBI director went in and said, ‘Hey, he’s got some secret document down there he hasn’t given us, and to ensure we recover those, we’re just going to go to Mar-a-Lago,' I would put that near zero,” Mudd explained. “To get to the bar where you’re going to the residence of the former president, classified documents don’t get you there. I had them in my house sometimes, inappropriately. It happens all the time. There has to be the additional piece ... and they have to do with stuff that the FBI can’t get someplace else.”

Earlier this year, the National Archives retrieved about 15 boxes' worth of material it contends were presidential records that it said should have been given to the agency. Upon review of the records, the agency discovered classified material and referred the matter to the Department of Justice, according to a letter David Ferriero, the archivist of the United States at the time, sent to Congress back in February. The DOJ subsequently opened a grand jury inquiry into the matter, the New York Times reported.

Federal agents took approximately 10 more boxes out of Mar-a-Lago on Monday, according to the Wall Street Journal, which said this marked an escalation of the investigation into how classified documents ended up at the resort after Trump left office.

Christina Bobb, an attorney for Trump, contended that as president, Trump had sweeping jurisdiction over what material should be classified.

"It is the president himself who gets to decide what is a presidential record. So why they get to redefine that is unclear, and why they get to search — why that's even in a warrant, it doesn't really make any sense, and the same thing with any potential classified information, which I don't believe there was any down there," she said on Tuesday.

The former chief of the Justice Department’s national security division said Tuesday that the search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Fla., suggests that the former president could be charged with violating the Espionage Act.

That law has traditionally been used to target government leakers, such as former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. But it also “actually has provisions that apply to essentially the mishandling [of classified material] through gross negligence, permitting documents to be removed from their proper place, or to be lost, stolen or destroyed,” Mary McCord, a veteran federal prosecutor who headed DOJ’s national security division

Who’s squirming? The person talking about today’s news or the person trying to talk about something that happened decades ago?

Ok, so do the typical dodge with basically no explanation or justification, let’s cherry-pick our talking points.

Shameless.

Anything based on factual law would be good rather than screeching the same old nonsense.

Well, that is the reason why we keep saying what we say. The Dems are setting themselves up for yet, another defeat and not just in all the polls.

If you believe that then you probably believe socialism is awesome.

It is.

In threads like this, I usually skip to the most downvoted comments to go to real facts and common sense.

I wouldn’t recommend doing that. In my experience, the most downvoted comments on Trump-related threads have involved hysterical gibberish from basements about stolen elections and the like.

Facts and common sense are usually not on the menu there.

Superlib is worth reading on this.

Eric Trump has come out and stated that the safe the FBI raided was empty and that the FBI found absolutely nothing it was sent to attempt to find. The FBI basically did a witch hunt raid, in which it ripped the place apart trying to find anything, anything at all that they could nail Trump with, and left with NOTHING.

"Trump just won the 2024 primary,” pro-Trump commentator Jack Posobiec declared.

Obviously.

Anyone who doesn't see how this hurts the Democrats in the long run is either from the UK, or is living in Disneyland full time.

And for further clarification, Disneyland is in California.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

The FBI basically did a witch hunt raid, in which it ripped the place apart trying to find anything, anything at all that they could nail Trump with, and left with NOTHING.

“Eric Trump, the forgotten Trump son said in a right-wing rag that there was nothing in a safe, so that means nothing exists and the FBI got nothing. I am very smart.”

6 ( +10 / -4 )

The Avenger

Eric Trump has come out and stated that the safe the FBI raided was empty and that the FBI found absolutely nothing it was sent to attempt to find.

And yet they left with about a dozen boxes. It would be foolish not to check the safe, because if you really wanted to hide something, it would be in there.

The FBI basically did a witch hunt raid,

It wasn't a raid, it was a search. Prove that it was a witch hunt.

in which it ripped the place apart trying to find anything, anything at all that they could nail Trump with, and left with NOTHING.

Umm, a dozen boxes...

3 ( +8 / -5 )

"Trump just won the 2024 primary,” pro-Trump commentator Jack Posobiec declared.

Jack Posobiec? lolz Very good and smart point; What people really care about is the DOJ "picking on Trump," not the economy or things that actually matter.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Haha Eric wasn’t even there, how does he know what they found?

Bob FosseToday  10:30 am JST

Then you understand that the Justice Delartment and FBI work independently of the President. Quick tell fox.

Isn't the head of the justice department the attorney general (appointed by Biden)?

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

It wasn't a raid, it was a search. Prove that it was a witch hunt.

The Magistrate Judge who signed the search warrant, Bruce Reinhart, was a 2018 Trump appointee with ten years in private practice and another decade before that as a Federal Prosecutor before being appointed to the bench.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

“Eric Trump, the forgotten Trump son said in a right-wing rag that there was nothing in a safe, so that means nothing exists and the FBI got nothing. I am very smart.”

Forgotten son?? Anyway, they rummage through his wife’s closet? They could not be there, had to turn all security and surveillance cameras off? Again, there was no justification for the raid when he already previously overturned documents over and a subpoena would have sufficed. If they don’t have a serious smoking gun here, Garland might be the one looking at some time in the big dog house.

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

Again, there was no justification for the raid when he already previously overturned documents over

How do you know? They took around a dozen boxes, so it seems like he didn't turn everything over.

and a subpoena would have sufficed.

Unless he was trying to hide something. And again, how do you know?

Desert Tortoise

The Magistrate Judge who signed the search warrant, Bruce Reinhart, was a 2018 Trump appointee with ten years in private practice and another decade before that as a Federal Prosecutor before being appointed to the bench.

Well, well, a trump appointee... Has he no gratitude? ;-)

its really sad that people dislike their country as much to want to destroy it by supporting an obviously mentally unstable man. They really need to get help and most just need some education instead of indoctrination

8 ( +10 / -2 )

How do you know?

Because that’s not the first line of protocol. You issue a subpoena first and let the person respond and then take it from there.

They took around a dozen boxes, so it seems like he didn't turn everything over.

Ok, then make the affidavit public. What’s in it and what’s the charge and justification for the raid?

Unless he was trying to hide something.

He was in NYC do you know the exact distance from Trump Towers to Mar-a-lago???

And again, how do you know?

How could you not know if you take the political blinders off?

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Federal code states that anyone who “willfully and unlawfully conceals or removes” any official “records or documents” “shall be disqualified from ever holding any office under the United States.”

“I will be nominating Christopher A. Wray, a man of impeccable credentials, to be the new Director of the FBI. Donald Trump

Before being elected to the presidency, Donald Trump said, at least six times, that “Anyone being investigated by the FBI is not qualified to be the president of the United States.”

6 ( +9 / -3 )

This is like a case of unreturned books from a librarian. It is so frivolous it does not merit an armada of FBI agents. The USA has become a banana republic, a police state with selective justice system. Don’t prosecute criminals say the state prosecutors and judges but go after Trump because he might win the White House again and disrupt and delay our New World Order agenda.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Again, there was no justification for the raid when he already previously overturned documents over and a subpoena would have sufficed.

So a Trump appointed FBI director (Wrey) got a Trump appointed judge (Reinhart) to sign off on a search warrant for Mar-a-Lago? Nonsense.

If they don’t have a serious smoking gun here,

Lol That's not how the law works.

Garland might be the one looking at some time in the big dog house.

You're projecting pretty hard here.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

bass4funk

Because that’s not the first line of protocol. You issue a subpoena first and let the person respond and then take it from there.

they had already asked for all the documents. They had been in discussion. They followed a less severe protocol than issuing a subpoena. Trump didn't want to give them back.

How could you not know if you take the political blinders off?

So basically pure speculation.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Because that’s not the first line of protocol. You issue a subpoena first and let the person respond and then take it from there.

Cool, thanks for confirming you have no idea what you’re talking about.

Do you think when mob houses get raided the police send a letter saying “uwu we’re gonna come to your house at 5am tomorrow and take evidence of your crimes if it’s okay with you xxx”

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Classified documents in the shredder. Classified documents ripped up and in the crapper. Why on earth would the FBI tell someone like that that they were coming with a search warrant looking for classified documents, something Trump had no business keeping in the first place?

4 ( +8 / -4 )

So a Trump appointed FBI director (Wrey) got a Trump appointed judge (Reinhart) to sign off on a search warrant for Mar-a-Lago? Nonsense.

And?

Lol That's not how the law works.

Yeah, it does, but let’s see after November if the law means anything to the left.

You're projecting pretty hard here.

No, that’s what McCarthy promised. Remember, the Dems will be the minority, they don’t get to say anything anymore from that point.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

Yeah, I do, according to the law, but I know that the law means squat to the left.

You don’t know what the law is. You think perjury is only sometimes a crime. Here’s a hint: crimes are crimes.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

its really sad that people dislike their country as much to want to destroy it by supporting an obviously mentally unstable man. They really need to get help and most just need some education instead of indoctrination

agreed, the end of quote repeat the line guy has been embarrassing the US for the entire world to see from day 1, it's been literally facepalm-worthy gaffes week in week out

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Cool, thanks for confirming you have no idea what you’re talking about.

No, that would be you, sadly.

Do you think when mob houses get raided the police send a letter saying “uwu we’re gonna come to your house at 5am tomorrow and take evidence of your crimes if it’s okay with you xxx”

The mob and organized crime syndicate that kills people, loan sharking, prostitution etc you’re trying to equate that to the former President of the US? Yeah, you just proved once again why the left will be crushed this November.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

The Americans should rally behind Trump because if they can do this to one of the greatest US president, they can do this to ordinary Americans. The institutions that are supposed to enforce the rule of law are the ones who are lawless.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

if true (its not) thats even worse for the Biden administration that this could happen without them knowing.

They just have the 2022 and 2024 elections to the Democrats.

Safe was empty, they just took random boxes, wont even discuss what they are looking for, what probable cause they had or what they found. guess they will save that for "bombshells" over the next 2 years.

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

They followed a less severe protocol than issuing a subpoena. Trump didn't want to give them back.

Again, they could have negotiated with a subpoena for the simple fact that he already previously complied.

So basically pure speculation.

On the lefts part, exactly!

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

Bass4,if need to get someone prosecuted,I hire a lawyer to get the ball rolling for me,lawyer usually know the prosecutor, who will be an advocate for Justice for their clients

2 ( +4 / -2 )

And?

You're suggesting impropriety on the part of those conducting the search, yet the people who filed for the search warrant, and then people who approved the the search warrant, were Trump appointees. It makes the spurious claims of political motivation look pretty stupid.

Yeah, it does,

lol No it isn't. Not finding evidence of the suspected crime doesn't invalidate the search warrant, nor does it open up Merrick Garland up to prosecution.

No, that’s what McCarthy promised. Remember, the Dems will be the minority, they don’t get to say anything anymore from that point.

And that is precisely why McCarthy and his ilk should never be allowed to be in power. You don't shoot from the hip and make promises about prosecution etc. before you have the facts. Give me a break.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

You don’t know what the law is.

Not me, this DOJ doesn’t seem to know.

You think perjury is only sometimes a crime. Here’s a hint: crimes are crimes.

Again, if that were so then quite a few Dems would have gone through the same thing as Trump and that didn’t happen, so save it.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

wont even discuss what they are looking for, what probable cause they had or what they found. guess

Normal for a criminal investigation. All of that information will be in the indictments.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

CNN seems overly concerned that this is actually a good thing for Trump. Unifies the base, establishes the witch hunt and two tiers of justice narratives. paints Trump in a sympathetic light as people see the lawless FBI could do the same thing to them, destroys the "cant do anything to Hunter to affect the upcoming election" excuses too.

They might be right for one of the few times in recent memory CNN is correct.

If they dont "show the goods", this backfires- big time and yuuuuuugely.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

Safe was empty, they just took random boxes, wont even discuss what they are looking for, what probable cause they had or what they found. guess they will save that for "bombshells" over the next 2 years.

Yeah, because the investigation is still ongoing. This isn't the apprentice, investigators don't just share the details of the investigation in real time.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

I like the part where a Trump-appointed judge is a part of the deep state as is the trump appointed head of teh FBI. I seem to recall seeing video (because I saw it today) of Don saying "Garland is highly respected."

Rick Perry probably should have trademarked "Oops". He could have made a fortune on Trump's rube-followers.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Cotton said Garland had “weaponized” the Justice Department against his political enemies. “There will be consequences for this," he warned.

Definitely see this type of behavior in Russia.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

This is like a case of unreturned books from a librarian. It is so frivolous it does not merit an armada of FBI agents.

Except the "unreturned books" in this case are classified national security documents that should never have left a secure space. Before making such statements please at least acquaint yourself with the many laws and regulations that strictly govern the storage, handling and declassification of classified documents. Classified documents have to stored in special safes in special secure spaces with all kinds of record keeping of who opened or entered a given space or a given safe.

Also acquaint yourself with a law called the Federal Records Act. Violating these laws are indeed felonies with large fines and jail sentences. Everyone and I mean everyone who has to work with Federal records (basically any paper you touch in the course of working for a Federal agency including the Executive Branch) or if you work with classified material receive required training each year and completion of that training is recorded for posterity, so there is no pleading you didn't know if you violate those rules. The rules are clear and everyone knows them, so no excuses.

GOP rallies around Trump following FBI search of his estate

And with good reason. With this latest political persecution, the politicized DOJ has crossed the rubicon. This is on the level on CCP China or South America. Americans should be ashamed.

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

No, that would be you, sadly.

My god, the ultimate legal defense: “I am rubber, you are glue”. Amazing.

You are not a lawyer. You do not know the law. You have no idea what the FBI found. You are making things up. Those are the facts.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

So I guess you are admitting that Trump is an idiot when it comes to making personell decisions. I mean he "only hires the best people." right?

No, how could he know? Do these appointees have to divulge the people they support? Get real!

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

bass4funk

They followed a less severe protocol than issuing a subpoena. Trump didn't want to give them back.

Again, they could have negotiated with a subpoena for the simple fact that he already previously complied.

He hadn't already complied, that's the point. And then you have the case of three different agencies messages going missing for around Jan 5th/6th.

Would you trust him to not destroy the evidence if he got a subpoena? I wouldn't.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Who was a huge Obama donor.

$2000 in 2008. I would not call that huge. In 2015 he gave money to the Jeb Bush campaign at a time when Jeb Bush was claiming the Trump campaign was a Democratic Party false flag operation. I could not make this stuff up. The guy gave money to his political rivals yet the orange jesus appointed him to the bench and the Repubelicken Senate confirmed him.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Trump supporters, you can go to his website and make a donation. He's a "billionaire" so he could use his own money but he likes using yours instead.

I like that, too.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Again, if that were so then quite a few Dems would have gone through the same thing as Trump and that didn’t happen, so save it.

Once again, this isn’t how the law works. It isn’t the case that if. Republican is guilty of something, then a Democrat must also be guilty of something.

If I murder someone I can’t just say, “well if I’m going to jail, then Todd has to go to jail too, because I hate him”. That’s not how it works.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Once again, this isn’t how the law works.

Yeah, it does. There are protocols that the DOJ could take without doing a raid

It isn’t the case that if. Republican is guilty of something, then a Democrat must also be guilty of something.

Ok, so overlook Democrat scandals that are on the same level as the president and ignore them and just focus on Trump. The more you try to justify the lefts actions the more it makes us and the rest of the nation feel confident that November will be a breeze for the GOP.

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

Readers, please do not be obsessed with this one story. If you have already posted on this thread, then please do not post any more comments here today, thanks.

Terrifying what they are willing to do. All because the Dems have nobody that can beat Trump in the next election, no matter how much they fortify it.

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

If one thing can be said is that the process followed to do the search have no viable criticism, Trump gave motive and a federal Judge considered the process justified. The GOP reaction is expected, if not justified, but what realistic alternative was there?

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Reports are that 12 boxes of evidence were removed from Mar-A-Lago. That means that either;

1) Trump was lying when he said he just took 15 boxes - and kept additional classified info, possibly including Top Secret, unsecured at Mar-A-Lago.

2) The FBI found a massive new amount of evidence of crimes, likely related to the illegal fraudulent electors scheme, or collusion with violent far-right extremist groups leading up to Jan 6, or his phone call to Rafensberger trying to obstruct the Georgia election.

This is a major step in Trump's investigation - this evidence will also go in front of the grand jury. Expect an indictment soon.

Trump is toast - his supporters can rant about "political investigations" all they want - and contribute to Trump's "Keep Me Out of Jail" fund that will likely pay for Melania's fashion designer.

Pompeo testified before the Jan 6th committee today - he knows his former boss is toxic and a lost cause.

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/08/09/politics/mike-pompeo-january-6-committee/index.html

6 ( +12 / -6 )

This was a valid search warrant, validly approved and validly executed. Period. End of story.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

GOP rally around the criminal. Rally around the man who tried to end American democracy.

Of all the people to fight for, Trump is the least deserving. A privileged rich, egomaniac who's interest stops at himself and his imagined greatness.

American history will forever be subject to the embarrassment of having elected Trump as president. Of the GOP refusing to impeach him for his crimes (twice) simply because he was a Republican, thus completely ignoring their sworn oaths of office to all the people of America.

The GOP are as disgusting as Trump whom they blindly venerate. I wish it was because they were all unintelligent drones but some are quite smart, yet have been sucked in by his cult of personality and their irrational hate of those who do not share their misguided faith in an evil man.
