"I can't understand why the President would, once again, disparage a man as exemplary as my friend John McCain: heroic, courageous, patriotic, honorable, self-effacing, self-sacrificing, empathetic, and driven by duty to family, country, and God," Romney wrote.

I can. It's a bitter mix of resentment, jealousy and narcissism. The indications that Trump himself, is unwell and unfit to govern shouldn't excuse his behaviour.

Trump just needs to drop it.

McCain, a Navy pilot, was held as a prisoner of war and tortured for more than five years. Trump has never served in the military because he got a deferment for a bone spur in his foot.

Trump fans love this.

I despise Donald Trump.

He is a vile, malicious, petty little man.

He's a disgrace and an embarrassment to our country.

The USA will never - Never - live down the shame of having placed this creature into the leadership of this country.

Ever.

"I think the president's comments about Sen. McCain hurt him more than they hurt the legacy of Sen. McCain,

Except perhaps in the minds of Trump's most loyal true believers who will echo just about anything Trump says, regardless how disgusting it may be. Cult of personality redux.

I have never been a supporter of McCain, but what Trump's been saying about him is absolutely repulsive.

Criticizing a war hero after he has passed, a statesman who gave more than Trump will ever know to his country, just shows the depth of depravity that haunts Trump's soul.

McCain's life is filled with honor and integrity - in the 15 seconds he took to correct the woman who said Obama was a Muslim during the 2008 campaign, he showed more integrity than Trump could show in his entire life...

McCain: War hero, statesman, defender of our nation...

Trump: Coward, con-man, sell out to Russia...

With Trump criticizing McCain, even after his death, I have this vision of what Trump would have been like if he had copied McCain’s campaign slogan and got onboard the straight talk express…

Mr Trump, why are you running for President?

It’s the brand baby, free advertising – my name all over the place – love it…

But don’t you want to win and serve as President?

Are you kidding cookie? That’s work – I play golf for a living – and con poor folks out of their money – everyone – sign up at Trump U!

What’s your stance on racism?

It’s great – gets my supporters fired up. So they run over peaceful protesters, she should have been looking behind her and jumped out of the way…

What’s your stance on immigration?

I love it. Love it when I scream about the wall and my supporters go crazy. Also love that I can employ them at my properties and save big bucks – they work cheap you know…

Mr Trump, do you have business ties to Russia?

Ties, I have chains! As Don Jr and Eric said, we get all our money from Russia – Putin’s on my speed dial – we’re “best comrades”

Mr Trump, what words do you have for your supporters?

Keep giving me the love, suckers....

Mr President, have you ever committed any crimes?

OK, stop the bus – enough of this straight talk stuff – get my consiglieri lawyer Saul Goodman in here – I’m pleading the 5th!

With his third public slandering of John McCain in the past several weeks, Trump has shown his true self, a vile, mentally unfit man who has no business being President of the United States.

Trump's clearly getting nervous about the Mueller report, which he incorrectly believes is solely based on the Steele Dossier. McCain did his patriotic duty and gave to the FBI. (Trumpophiles: McCain didn't lie unlike your people.)

The pressure is getting to Dimwit and he's reacting as expected.

The President seems calm, cool and collected, more confident wanting the report to come out. I’m just worried about my liberal friends how they’ll process it all. No collusion, and maybe possible finance charge on something that happened 16-30 years ago. The Dems will try to indict him and the GOP will have a great laugh and then we can all go on with our lives and in 2024, they’ll still be seething. Lol

Do you even know what thread you're on?

I can easily compare what the same people who called McCain horrible names in 2008 are saying now. It’s easy to see why it benefits them to say nice things now.

I suppose you can argue that changing your view of someone just because they die is hypocritical. Trump trashed McCain before he died. I suppose he was consistent.

However, Trump trashed the service of a POW, indeed all POWs, while he dodged the draft with his bone spurs. It was probably a good thing that Trump wasn’t sent to Vietnam. At the very least, his whining and bawling could have kept his comrades awake.

Trump is trash.

And Richard Blumenthal lied about serving in Vietnam. Politicians lie and do bad things, even the newly sainted John McCain.

im glad there was internet back in 2008 so I can see what the McCain lovers on CNN actually said about him when he dared run against Obama.

It's amazing how perspective can change opinions. Like, in November 2008, I thought little Bush was the worst president ever. Now I wish we could go back to him.

Go right ahead. We'll await your results. I'm sure you'll turn up things like Obama saying "He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."

Or all democratic presidents who've complained about "giving" someone a state funeral, as if such an honor were personal charity from Trump. Or a democrat complaining that he wasn't properly thanked for a funeral of someone he'd only recently maligned.

Comparing any of that to what democrats said during a political campaign 11 years ago when McCain was fit is patently absurd and you know it. Any decent person would be ashamed of the president's unhinged, disgraceful rhetoric. Blowback is brewing, people tire of all nauseating boors with time.

Trump again is proving that he is a moron...

3 ( +4 / -1 )

One man went to Vietnam and served his country bravely. This man was captured and held as a POW for years and was tortured on a regular basis by his captors.

The other man dodged the draft by falsely claiming he had bone spurs and then later in life criticized the man who bravely went.

The facts speak for themselves. One man is brave and the other one is a coward.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Even if you don't agree with McCain's policies when he served as a senator, doesn't give you the right to criticize the service to his country, especially when you yourself have never served. It is what is called being a hypocrite is. That is Trump. Yes, there were Presidents in the past who have never served in the military, but never have they lambasted and criticized someone who was a decorated war hero after they have died, such as Trump has. It is utterly cruel. To top that off, Trump does it while showing off his own so-called successes and praises himself. Each day with Trump becomes more and more a journey into the insane and weird.

The President seems calm, cool and collected, more confident wanting the report to come out.

And when Trump's sheep says things like this over and over, like a hypnotic mantra, it gets even more surreal ...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell [...]deployed the H-word twice in one tweet.

"The H-word"? What? Are we avoiding the word "hero" for some reason?
