What is Japan doing?

We got a leaflet from the city today. Helpline numbers, brief information on the virus, load of guff on masks, a small bit on hand washing but not how to do it proper.y. The first sign of official advice.

Who pays the workers while the govt has ordered business to close, most people no work, no pay, no rent, no food, no bills getting paid, who covers this ?

Tough for many with out income, is china picking up the tab for this, or your local MP or Mayor, or who, how, when, how much?

Im sure many many people would like to know the answer.

Meanwhiile in Japan, people seem oblivious to the virus.

School sports club activities continue.

Parks are full of people playing sports and having BBQs (on a Wednesday!).

People are visiting their neighbours and going to restaurants and bars.

Like I said, people seem oblivious.

No wonder some sources are saying Japan has not yet hit the peak of the virus.

This is "Japan" Today, right? Where is the information regarding what the Japanese government is doing about Coronavirus?

Moderator: Everywhere in the National section.

Compared to other countries Japan is doing pretty good.

@klausdorth

it's been said many, many times: Masks are not the all-mighty safe haven!

I partially agree with you and I will explain my thoughts. Masks themselves will not prevent the spread of the virus. Additionally the wearing of masks may not be effective in preventing one from acquiring the virus. On the other hand the masks reduce the risk (not eliminate) of the virus being passed from one person to another through droplets which may carry the aerosolized virus through the air by reducing the amount of virus emitted.

I was at a major manufacturer in Japan today for a meeting (a company I would consider to be "progressive") and they require all personnel in plant to disinfect hands and wear a mask. I was quite happy in this situation and I also wore a mask as well.

You are absolutely right it is not the all-mighty safe haven but it is a tool inside of the tool box which can be used to reduce risk,

All of those warnings, and alarming procedures, maybe late to stop what is spreading as it happened with many epidemic/infectious including HIV diseases few decades ago, we are much less vulnerable to them(micro-germs/ virus). It's a changing time to we stay calm and think more about our health and isolate ourselves from "clusters", not a better word for this phenomena but I think it isn't just to be in the crowd it'll infect, more I feel is to stay at that space long time to be completely affected. Governments are noticing not to be shuttered inside with less pure air, things like that. This is my opinion and I don't find myself fake news of those social medias...It is a period of time we need to insight ourselves to be safe, the sky is much blue now and less pm 25 in the air, more hygiene to be taken care everywhere, things are changing, one side is terrifying but many filthy filthy stuffs going to be exterminated...

Next week Japan will take some drastic measures. Stock up for a month or so. You heard it, so don't say I should have, etc. Check back with you in a week and I'll either be a profit or a fool.

This is as funny as funny gets. Talk about self-aggrandizement:

on Wednesday morning [March 18] in a tweet.

“I always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously, and have done a very good job from the beginning, including my very early decision to close the “borders” from China - against the wishes of almost all,” wrote Trump, referring to the coronavirus with a term that many consider offensive and medical experts discourage. “Many lives were saved. The Fake News new narrative is disgraceful & false!”

*We have it totally under control,” he said on January 22 , adding, “It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”*

*“Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,” said Trump at a February 10 rally in New Hampshire.*

*On Feb. 24, Trump tweeted, “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”*

I’m certain this is the liberal msm vowing to their liberal masters and attacking Donny for no good reason. Never mind these are direct quotes of Donny that are making Donny look like a moron.

Trump was wrong with his early statements and has since corrected himself. Apparently you missed that?

Even the mainstream media have lessened up on the hysterial Trump bashing in the Corona situation, maybe you might want to also.

Chip Star - I’m certain this is the liberal msm vowing to their liberal masters and attacking Donny for no good reason.

The CNN-types certainly tried to influence the voting public by calling Trump a racist, as well as every other name, because Trump wanted to limit travel from China, and across the Mexico-USA border. Seems that even the CNN-types have been backing away from their early political pandering.

HIV was not an airborne disease.

About two-thirds of the cases are linked to a mass religious gathering at a mosque in a Kuala Lumpur suburb that has also sickened participants from Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia

In South Korea and Iran, religious gatherings turned to become a hot-spot. Mecca is closed or largely limited to pilgrims.

Ironically, seriously practicing members of religious communities have contributed to a big cluster taking form. The virus may challenge ones' faith and commitment.

Long time the borders had to be closed, not wait until the virus spreads everywhere... Epidemic of Incompetence created pandemic of Coronavirus...

Okay, but what the Fox “News” types don’t understand is relevancy. This comment is completely irrelevant to the media quoting Donny to demonstrate how much of a moron he is.

No, he hasn’t corrected himself.
