Greek income tax is zero on the first 10500 euros, so it's not possible for taxes to reduce incomes to 8000 euros as Mr Dirvakos claims. The Greeks have been living beyond their means and it's time for a cut in living standards. The same thing will happen in Japan before long.

In a sane world, the solution would be simple, just take back the money JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs got through their racketeering activities. In an insane world where racketeering is called capitalism, get ready to see this in other places. It's going to be lots of fun when it comes to the UK and the USA, and the bills come due for the fraud of neo-liberal economics.

Listen closely, the fracturing of the vast Welfare State called Europe grows ever louder and more ominous.

Not as loud or ominous as the fracturing of the vast Ponzi scheme called the USA though!

Milton Friedman predicted that the Euro would not survive the first economic crisis to hit Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if GJDailleut was the kind of guy who was on this website in 2003 telling all who'd listen that the US "needed war with Iraq" to forestall Arab oil kingdoms, Russia and China from demanding financial transactions no longer be done in dollars but in Euros...

Well if that was Milton Friedman's prediction, then they have nothing to worry about, for now at least.

The political Euro alliance was a shotgun wedding of ill conceived notions based on mutual economic self interest, but without a galvanizing political mandate. An oxymoronic state. A chain is only as strong as its weakest Greece. Nilly-willy Euro alliances a century ago brought on WW1, and the froth and blather co-signers of the EU alliance today have no wiggle room to bail out decades of failed Athenian economics without printing more phuny money. A Greece fire in the cradle of democracy is hard to put out.

Is that your prediction, GJDailleult?
