For those who want to know how a 20-year-old gets a security clearance, any American soldier who is a citizen, and passes a standard military background check can get one. Resident aliens serving in the military are disqualified. In SOC units, (special operations), all personnel must have at least a “secret” security clearance, and those working in an intelligence unit will have higher clearances. The bigger issue is how easy it is to disseminate information today, it can transmitted or shared around the world instantly, and the government has not yet thought of policies dealing with this situation. They are still thinking like it’s the old days, when secrets were transmitted on microfilm or written in code on paper. Anyone who works with sensitive information today must have allof their digital communication watched carefully. This guy was caught because he was young and stupid, but not everyone who works in the Pentagon is young and stupid, and it is unpleasant to think about how much information a more sophisticated person could steal.

There is nothing exposed in the leaks that isn't totally justified in the war we are in with the dictator cabal of China/Russia. The only example of how this will be our downfall is how the leaker is one of the useful idiots that permeate our society.
