I spent 25 of my life around the gulf of Mexico. I spent all those years in the pan handle of Florida, New Orleans and surrounding biyous, and dauphin island in Alabama. This really sucks. oh well. one less reason to go back home.

Don't worry no matter how bad the disaster, the right amount of money and the government will step aside, especially as the Supreme Court says that not even Congress has any right to limit the amount of money that corporations give them as, bribes, campaign contributions. Do you want to guess just how hard Politicians are going to fight to limit all this money coming to them. We have the best government money can buy. But if you have not bought it, it ain't yours and we are not talking about your tax dollars. It is how much you can pay the politicians that determines what laws get written and what laws get enforced and how often they are enforced. So expect congress to echo Sarah Palin and say "Drill Baby, drill!"

I didn't imagine that BP's disaster would get to this degree. I thought that they really had a master plan for some kind of accident like this.

Here the republicans have been running their soup coolers for off shore drilling. Then we have the "Drill...Baby...Drill" Sarah Palin crowd.

Then here we have BP who wants deep sea drilling and doesn't have a plan to stop a leak. Who doesn't put the automatic shut off on the well and really has no concrete solution to a catastrophe of this scale, at these depths. Sure...sure they are drilling laterally; that's another 3 weeks away? Maybe some golf balls and shredded tires? < :-)

Bio-diesel.

Scary thing here is crude oil, is relatively one the least toxic chemical being exploited from the ground by O&G's. Had it been a sour gas well, there would be nothing left of the ocean in that area.

Bio-diesel is the biggest scam yet. To use arable land to produce fuel instead of food is an obscene luxury, and if you subtract the energy needed to produce it (including fuel and fertilizers), the net gain is so expensive that only government subsidies allow this scam to exist.

Until a viable alternative is found, we continue to depend on oil.

Actually, the bio-diesel I use comes from the by-products of corn/grain haverasting and the engery required comes from a methane power plant (ala Thunderdome), no government subsidies, in fact the government loses out in missed fuel tax revenue (Got to love farmers and there distain for big government). I haven't heard of 3.5mil gallons of bio-fuel leaking into the ocean, killing what could be a very large amount of the food chain in a very significant area.
