If gun makers and sellers are seeing increased profits as a result of the spread of the virus, spread faster because of inadequacies in US healthcare and politicians unwilling to take a position until it had become a pandemic, I'm sure they'll show their appreciation to their fellow citizens by donating most of their recent profits to programs aimed at (so to speak) improving public health and safety.

How nice would it be if they were swapping their guns for a supply kit that includes tests, food and cash. Hey I can dream can’t I.

No, the healthcare could be the best on the planet, it wouldn’t change the public’s distrust of the government. Gun sales would still spike in a situation like this.

It makes sense that people don’t trust the government given Constantly Lyin Donny is in charge and he downplayed this situation and continues a to contradict the experts.

Point missed. My point was gun companies profiting from the effects of this virus, especially those getting government permission to stay open when other businesses are shut, should be willing to return some of their profits to those suffering. Many gun owners and companies claim to be 'patriots': let them show they care about their nation's people. As more than just people to profit from.

No, it’s because of the possible lock and breakdown of the society, but that wasn’t the only time that gun sales spiked...

How much does PP donate or the teachers and workers unions?

As everyone knows, the best way to protect your 60 rolls of toilet paper from being stolen by your neighbors is with an AR-15....

Friends and family in three different US states have talked about how scary it is seeing more and more people open-carrying guns into crowded stores. People in the US are tense and OVERarmed. Some are even threatening Dr. Fauci. The guns industries are getting special treatment from the government. (Is that national socialism?) Gun owners are putting innocent lives, especially the majority of Americans who do NOT own guns, at risk. Time for gun owners to give back. And the guns industry arming schools is not an example of giving; it's being done for the benefit of the guns industries. The most selfish and self-serving of all US industries.

That's all we need, corona virus and millions of trigger happy crazies out with a gun

People don’t trust the government because they know the president is completely incompetent.

They don’t trust the government because liberals for years and years have been talking about either amending the 2nd amendment or confiscating firearms. This is why they trust Trump because he knows those laws will be protected.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@bass4fThey don’t trust the government because liberals for years and years have been talking about either amending the 2nd amendment or confiscating firearms

That's one gun owner's gun owner-centric perspective. Gun owners are a minority of the US population. I think the non-gun owning majority of the country probably could list a range of reasons they might not trust the government. One would be hearing government 'leaders' blatantly lying - repeatedly. Examples would be 'mission accomplished' said re Iraq, and 'it's not a pandemic'/'I said all along it was a pandemic', among so many others.

Fear of the government, fear of people, fear of whatever. It doesn't matter. It's always fear driving gun nutters.

Gun background checks smash records amid coronavirus fears

Ask ex-presidential candidate Beto O'rourke how his anti-firearms campaign is coming along. Even Democrats would no longer support that guy. But the best part of this latest scheme to ban firearms is that it, once again, it proves to the voters that the Democrat Party is the anti-2nd Amendment party, and the voters will vote accordingly. Again.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

But the best part of this latest scheme to ban firearms is that it, once again, it proves to the voters that the Democrat Party is the anti-2nd Amendment party,

What scheme to ban firearms?

In what universe is this post accurate?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Chip Star - What scheme to ban firearms?

The O'Rourke (d)-Biden (d) plan to confiscate legally-owned firearms from U.S. voters if Biden is elected and O'Rourke is appointed his registration/confiscation czar. The voters haven't forgotten about O'Rourke's or Biden's campaign promise.

A minority? Uhhh....not really.

@bassss4fA minority? Uhhh....not really.

I'm aware the alt right use terms like minority and 'vast' majority differently, but this is what your Gallup link reports.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Thirty percent of U.S. adults say they personally own a gun, while a larger percentage, 43%, report living in a gun household.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The O'Rourke (d)-Biden (d) plan to confiscate legally-owned firearms from U.S. voters if Biden is elected and O'Rourke is appointed his registration/confiscation czar. The voters haven't forgotten about O'Rourke's or Biden's campaign promise.

This is a lot of words to say, “The scheme I made up.”

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I'm aware the alt right use terms like minority and 'vast' majority differently, but this is what your Gallup link reports.

You missed the point, PTown, which was that polls can’t be trusted. This means if Gallup says 30% if American adults own guns, it must be more than than 50%.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

In the US, there are responsible firearms owners, and then there are the gun nuts.

Responsible firearms owners use their weapons for sport, legal hunting, and recreation. They favor gun locks, background checks, and an assault weapon ban. Most have left the NRA because of its radical policies.

Gun nutters are scared, and feel weak and helpless - and use their guns to overcome this sense of powerlessness. They don't use their guns for sport or recreation - they say they want them to protect themselves from their neighbors and the government. They say they are pro-law enforcement and pro-military - but at the same time say that if either of them came to take their weapons away, they'd gun them down.

Gun nutters shouldn't be trusted with a dinner knife...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

lincolnman,

Completely agree. But gun nutter or responsible gun owner alike, they are guaranteed the right to bear arms for the purposes of protecting themselves and their homes and families by the second amendment. Forcing the closure of shops selling guns and ammo is seen as a denial of that right.

However, as even Scalia said in 2008, it is “not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.”

The problem in the states is that they have a good old fashioned arms race. Chances are, anyone breaking into your house, or accosting you in the street is going to be packing, so you should be packing heat yourself, the theory goes. I’m always thankful I don’t have that fear here in Japan, or in my home country.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Why is it that the alt left have to link race to worm it’s way into every argument?

Responsible firearms owners use their weapons for sport, legal hunting, and recreation.

...and protecting family and property, don’t forget that!

They favor gun locks, background checks, and an assault weapon ban. Most have left the NRA because of its radical policies.

No, more than 5 million members and for the ones that left, more will come, I didn’t leave, No way!

That’s ok, call us scared, call us fat or bald or ugly, none of us could care less, lol! Gun owners like don’t flinch at any labels that liberals want to call us, we won’t get rid of our guns, you guys can’t make us, we can buy as much as we want, when we want and can enjoy them anyway we see fit and if liberals don’t like it...oh, well...lol

Gun nutters shouldn't be trusted with a dinner knife

Liberals can’t be trusted with a quarter.

How is having a gun going to protect you against this Virus ?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The NRA does not reveal how many members there are.

Not the virus, would be looters. I lived through the LA riots, that was more than enough for me.

Nope, to gun down government officials who you think are coming after your AK-47 - ones that work for your President.

They favor gun locks, background checks, and an assault weapon ban. Most have left the NRA because of its radical policies.

No, more than 5 million members and for the ones that left, more will come, I didn’t leave, No way!

The NRA is now a radical far-right fringe group that doesn't represent the majority of responsible firearms owners.

You called yourself all of those, I didn't. I'm a responsible gun owner who has no intention of using my firearms to kill people. That's the difference between firearms owners and gun nutters - we enjoy the sport, you have guns because you're scared.

Gun nutters shouldn't be trusted with a dinner knife

Liberals can’t be trusted with a quarter.

A quarter is not a deadly weapon.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

we can buy as much as we want, when we want and can enjoy them anyway we see fit

Excepting certain age restrictions, prohibitions for convicted felons, prohibitions for domestic abusers, prohibitions for people with specific kinds of mental health histories, bans on machine guns and 'dangerous and unusual weapons', permit requirements for concealed carry, and restrictions on areas such as government property

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The NRA does not reveal how many members there are.

So as a member I’m guessing somewhere around what I quoted and for anyone to think membership numbers are decreasing is not dealing with serious reality. I know liberals wish and hope, but that’s not going to happen. That’s like saying to liberals PP donors are shrinking.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Nope, to gun down government officials who you think are coming after your AK-47 - ones that work for your President.

Those Same government officials that lied and tried to take the President out, twice, so we got a little bit of a disagreement on that one.

The NRA is now a radical far-right fringe group that doesn't represent the majority of responsible firearms owners.

I completely disagree.

You called yourself all of those, I didn't. I'm a responsible gun owner

As I am as well, despite the liberal name calling.

It is rumors, and make-believe statements, such as this that makes the opinions of foreigners, and Democrats, as they pertain to the 2nd Amendment so unconvincing/unbelievable. Even Democrats would no longer support Beto O'Rourke's campaign after he admitted that he would confiscate American's firearms. What is left of Biden's campaign has not yet had to face the wrath of American (not foreigner's wishful thinking) 2nd Amendment supporters, hunters, target shooters, and self-defense proponents.

There you have it - they want their guns because they're scared and afraid of their own government. Black helicopters and all the nonsense...

Given the history of how they’ve dealt with conservatives over 20 years and this President over the last 3 years, yup, many of us definitely trust these establishment lackeys.

You're entitled to your wrong opinion

As you equally are As well.

Are you a Liberal?

I am not a sellout.

"Yup" - thanks again - its tough for folks to admit they're scared and afraid....and an anti-government radical, just like the Minutemen, Militia groups, and other anti-US government organizations.

LOL. Elected Democrats have repeatedly said that they want to ban firearms. Democrats continually promote registration/confiscation laws. It's the Democrat Party's socialism that many voters find unacceptable. Foreigners, OTOH, who can't vote in U.S. elections, can easily be ignored.

You have a lot of liberals in that State and their scheme still failed and why is that? You have a millions of liberals that are gun owners. Harry Reid was and is a supporter of the 2nd amendment. Liberals will lose on this issue every single time.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

lincolnman - But in your own words you're scared and afraid - of your own government.

LOL. Your government doesn't trust you with firearms, therefore, it has decided that you can't own them. You don't get a choice.
