Gun-rights activists gear up for show of force in Virginia

Back in my apartment living days I remember pulling into the parking area and seeing a guy dressed in his pajamas taking garbage to the dumpster with a gun belt around his waist. He literally couldn't walk the 100 feet from his apartment to the dumpster without his gun.

To me, that's a lot of the gun debate. Men being too afraid of society and unable to function unless they have the ability to instantly kill someone on them at all times. If we banned guns, men like that would be prisoners, too afraid to walk out their front doors and unable to live life in any meaningful way because they're be too afraid to leave their homes.

I might think of it in terms of sensible laws, but for this guy he'd probably give his life to keep his gun because he can't function without it.

When it's white red neck men with gun racks in their pick up talking about the second amendment people talk about a sacred right given to them by the constitution. Just think. What would the reaction be like if it was a large group of armed black and hispanic men assembling in VA?

No, a blatant 'breaking of the 2nd Amendment' occured when the NRA stood in support as Ronald Reagan and the Republican party passed the Mulford Act in California, an amendment to the California Constitution.

Now, why did Reagan and the Repubs want to take away open carry in California? Because the Black Panthers were doing it, doing open carry patrols of their neighborhoods in what the Panthers called 'copwatching.' AKA, when minorities were standing up using their rights in the same way, Republicans flocked to pass a law to stop it. The law got national attention when Black Panthers entered the capitol building armed in protest of Mulford's proposed amendment.

At least the California Democrats were consistent on wanting gun control. Reagan however, was just consistent in his duplicity.

What is provoking their anger in this once reliably conservative state is the new Democratic majority leadership and its plans to enact a slew of gun restrictions.

Its what has been predicted for a while, Democrat voters leave places like California because of the high taxes and socialist policies then move to a Conservative state then vote in a Democrat government who then introduce the same laws and ruin another state with socialist policies.

Before everyone comments about kids getting shot in schools generally by other kids, if we have a look at the backgrounds of these shooters, most if not all of these shooters have come from broken homes and have a high chance of being on some type of anti psychotic drug - maybe mental health issues should be looked at prior to blaming guns.

Back in the 1970's a person could buy AR15 style rifles via mail order and yet mass shootings didn't happen back then.
