Guns, drugs and now disease, American children are increasingly being subjected to danger because some people cannot get their brains out of the 18th century!!!

Yet more people are still looking for more, cheaper, deadlier guns.

What is there left to say?

A nation awash in guns - just like Afghanistan, Nigeria or Columbia...

That's where the Repubs want to take us - MAGA means making America a third-world country, complete with a self-appointed dictator...

Basic firearms training should be a part of the school curriculum in the US.

In my high school, we were asked to bring our guns to a physics class. The point was to show how conservation of momentum worked with the different firearms. Not everyone chose to bring their guns. I suspect some didn't have a gun to bring, which was fine. We dropped off the firearms with the school office in the morning - physics class was around 2pm. The Assistant principal brought all the checked firearms to the class and we stepped outside (that classroom had a door to a field next to the school. Then we lined up the guns and shot at different types of targets, milk jugs with water, including a donated hog carcass. The teacher brought 3 of his firearms and let anyone who wanted shoot them.

This wasn't a safety class. It was assumed that everyone had already been taught gun safety by their parents. In that part of the country, hunting and target shooting was very popular and accessible.

I still remember a few cheerleaders shooting a 9mm. Nobody wanted to use the .45. I know I didn't.

Shooting is a sport just like sailing, fishing, bowling, SCCA racing. Parents pass on the sport they love to their children. As always, sometimes the kids love it, but not always. I liked it more when the entire family was together doing it. When we get together at holidays, we'll usually visit the local outdoor range for fun. People who don't want to do that might see a movie or go bowling instead. That's fine too. Target shooting is fun, but not everyone enjoys it. I don't like fishing and think it is a total waste of time, but I'm not going to try and collect all the fishing lures and nets in the country to prevent others from enjoying their sport.

Gun violence is an acceptable way of life. Something in their DNA or in the water.

So then why won’t the Democrat leaders do anything to curtail the ongoing gang violence? Why are so many of these criminals getting off or not being prosecuted for committing serious crimes? And then Wendy’s leader say they want the police defunded and they don’t want a border patrol to patrol the borders and hold these people any of them accountable, Of course themselves are going to go office that’s a given. That’s not the fault of the law-abiding gun owner. Aggressively prosecute all of these criminals to the fullest extent, hire more police and you will see a lot of gun sales go down, because people wouldn’t need to have to arm themselves

They have tried many times to introduce better gun laws but opposed by the republicans.

There are already gun laws in place existing ones, the Dems could enforce them. They can undo anything and everything that Trump implemented, but they can’t enforce the gun laws in place already? Yeah, ok…

America has the largest prison population in the world, 2.3 million and you want to increase the number. Holding stock in private prison firms?

I don’t want to increase anything, gun sales will continue to increase as long as he defund the police, and as long as the crime is rising and as long as the border remains open, that’s on the Democrats it’s not on the people that owned guns.

Law-abiding owner are part of the problems by resisting new gun laws.

I disagree, I think the opposite

The ones pushing for arming their populations are those with small brains and big egos, the typical definition of a republican!!!

That’s ok, people can think whatever they want, they can call us any names they choose, but law-abiding Americans will never relinquish their guns and with growing distrust of the current government more than ever and the way things are spiraling out of control, expect gun sales to rise, that is certain and should be expected. This administration is helping gun dealers across the nation. All what most people want is to be left alone and defunding the police nation wide and rising crime (of course) is another factor for the sales spike.

Of course, the lighter the gun the more the recoil. Nice way of teaching physics.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

The gun requirements of the militias of the 18th century is very different from the ones of the wannabe toughies who want to compensate for their lack of courage with guns.

There have been open places on the border for hundreds of years. Less people crossing than at the beginning of the century.

What? So basically having a sovereign nation is not important Pay for it we really don’t need to secure our borders and as millions of people are being let in on an hourly basis, we should just let them, who cares about American sovereignty and who cares who let in come to anyone and everyone in. Again, this continues to help gun dealers.

@RiskyMosaic

Loading rounds, getting the grip right and understanding the safety mechanism of the handgun at a minimum. It will also help the kids increase their powers of concentration and will reduce instances of bullying. I mean you can't bully a 10 year old carrying a Glock 17 can you?

American kids have anyways been bringing guns to school for many years. My cousins who grew up in the US and studied in public schools once told me when we were kids that they had regular instances of kids and teens bringing guns to school. I was being bullied in school then and thought how great it would be to live in a such a country.

That's where the Repubs want to take us -

The Republicans have absolutely nothing to do with liberal controlled inner cities.

MAGA means making America a third-world country,

No, it means for the last 60 years the Dems that preside over these communities predominantly that are heavily comprised of minorities have done a horrible job at handling crime, every single one of them.

Most of these cities have very strict gun laws, but the Dems don’t force them, the only thing that they like to do is blame Republicans for supporting the NRA or the Second Amendment comment it’s easier to deflect than the focus on their own failures and how for over 60 years they have completely destroyed the communities and the lives of people that they claim to protect.
