@nigelboy

CNN's thirst to be the "first" to report anything resulted in utter embarassment from "arrest" to "dark skinned male".

Remember, no matter what, the news is still a ratings business and CNN is trying to bring up their numbers, yes, they are doing better than msnbc (Disney channel has higher ratings) and HLN. They are trying to hold on the number 2 slot and they have gotten better, but because, they are trying so hard to keep their status and from slipping, they often bite off more than they can chew and jump ahead of themselves. You just can't do that if you want to maintain a valid credibility.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Been following this on the news. Unreal.

Impressed that they identified the suspects so quickly.

These two only killed three, though granted with bombs (that's not the American way); perhaps if they'd used rifles from a rooftop, it would not have made national new

Love how you don't bother to mention the dozen+ people with missing limbs. I'm sure they're lives won't be impacted at all. But you just couldn't pass up the opportunity to mention gun control, huh?

@smith

Anyway, knew they would be caught or killed (well, one for now, at least). The other one will turn up dead or alive at some point.

If they capture this guy alive, it would be a great thing, I really want to know what and why this guy started to doing this. But the uncle said, they were losers, so maybe they just wanted to make a point.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I hope the remaining suspect is caught soon. He should be brought o justice. Hopefully he is caught alive so that his motives can be known.

I would also hope this case serves as a reminder of why these enthusiastic cyber-sleuths need to be careful. They identified the wrong guy (Sunil Tripathi) and his pics were mindlessly shared on the social media. This could have had potentially disastrous consequences as some vigilantes may have taken matters into their hands had they found this guy (though he is still missing). And I shudder at the thought of what the family of that Brown University students would have had to go through because of this.

Chechnya is a Sunni Muslim dominated society that is certainly unstable. Time for us to stand firmly against Muslim immigration in this country. Everywhere they go terror follows. NO to Muslim immigration.

The script for this has not been written yet. Hold criticism until they can produce a straight story. Right now they are really grasping for a story to fit. => Nothing is really fitting yet and they will have a very hard time to logically fit a story to this.

If the story cannot fit => Boston is in trouble. Mayor will be asked to leave and most of the police force will be under tremendous pressure to leave or resign. Everyone on those pictures and videos is being scrutinized by the people of Boston and all over the World.

Sort of like the ATF Fast and Furious debacle, but this time with way more info and people are bringing in info at an alarming rate. This may end up as the largest courtroom battle ever.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The other one will turn up dead or alive at some point.

You think? They god the entire town quarantined and are knocking on every single residence. Based on those info, who would of thought that you could come with those scenarios. (sarcasm)

CNN's thirst to be the "first" to report anything resulted in utter embarassment from "arrest" to "dark skinned male".

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

They will have a very difficult time writing a script for this one. => That is why the "official" story is taking so long. People in New England love reading and stories like this with the pictures and videos make an incredible logic puzzle that people in that area just love to talk about and logically digest.

I for one think it is very interesting being a past runner. =Old script of patriot "gun toting" terrorist using gun-powder and pressure cookers must be changed. Incredible drama.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I don't like like the story, and now I have to say that I don't care about it. I don't care why the bombs were set off, insanity knows no reason, so "why" is a waste of time. I also don't care for the political self-aggrandizement this story is already generating. The bombers can go to their richly-desrved hell, the politcical vultures and ghoulish press can publish all the bloody details, from which they will take the usual dirty profit. I don't care, I don't want to know.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Anyway, knew they would be caught or killed (well, one for now, at least). The other one will turn up dead or alive at some point.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Pretty much thanks to the regular citizens using crowd sourcing and the FBI these guys were apprehended very quickly. Although the one went out dying, this shows that even regular people can make a difference.

Damn the Russian don't play around. They crush those bad guys even if it means taking out their own people. I remember watching a video a while back that rebels tried to take over a school bus in Russian. Russian police reacted by promptly flash banging and gasing the bus. Crude but effective.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The brothers identified themselves as the marathon bombers to the carjacking victim. Apparently, their exit strategy was to die.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

In a few hours, they have changed like 12 times of version.

So check back in another 12 hours if you like your news firm.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Yes, Laguna, according to the uncle who was interviewed by CNN.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Really, Surf? I've got some students from Kyrgyzstan - not a particularly radical country, but very, very conservative - and as a small minority, the Kyrgyz tend to dislike their neighbors, particularly the Uzbekis.

I hope the second guy survives this, not least because the story is becoming more interesting.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So, these brothers from Chechnya grew up in Krygistan, according to their uncle. Seems like they had recently radicalised.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Boston Regional Intelligence Center has just released a wanted poster.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Chechen rebels wanting a Chechen Emirate or Caliphate generally attack mother Russia, but on their web sites they also have harsh words for the USA and the West.

True, but, well, whatever: American involvement in Chechnya would be disastrous in so, so many ways.

After an American killed 26 with a gun at an elementary school, Congress deemed American policy towards gun control awesome in its present state. These two only killed three, though granted with bombs (that's not the American way); perhaps if they'd used rifles from a rooftop, it would not have made national news.

Chechnya. Holy smokes. There is very much that America should not do now - and paramount on the list is to not tie this crime to anything other than what is a domestic event.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

What is happening there ? That's not an investigation. In a few hours, they have changed like 12 times of version.

an interfaith service at a Roman Catholic cathedral in Boston

In the middle of a terrorism case, they'd already organize a big gathering with the president ? And next week the repetition of Boston in Texas ? I'll check next month to see if they have decided about a definitive story.

On the other hand many of those caught in the past have kept schtum,

The dead ones, clearly.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Just remember that when either of them does, another prop in your "liberal bias" obsessive-compulsive reflex will have been knocked away.

But CNN did have to retract a story earlier saying that earlier on a suspect was apprehended and it wasn't true. Something that CNN regularly does. And yes, the liberal bias is really off the charts. They need to first make sure the info is sound and credible before having a knee-knee jerk reaction.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

A law enforcement intelligence bulletin obtained by the AP identified the surviving bomb suspect as Dzhokhar A Tsarnaev, 19, of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Well, that could be a match with "Triphathi." Both names start with a "T."

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Chechen rebels wanting a Chechen Emirate or Caliphate generally attack mother Russia, but on their web sites they also have harsh words for the USA and the West. These guys could well be hard core. Interesting that they have taken their fight to the States. The guy in the white cap could well have been showing his face as bravado for his people back home, and free publicity for the cause.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Sorry, no, the surviving one is said to be Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Now it is being announced that they were Chechen brothers, and the one who died was Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Fast breaking story.

May not be the names that were originally reported after all. A.P is now reporting an entirely different tune:

The Associated Press, citing sources, reports that both suspects are from Russia region near Chechnya and have lived in the U.S. at least 1 year.

Not sure now where this is going to lead after all. Back to Islamic terrorists?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

AP sources: Boston bomb suspects from Russia region near Chechnya, lived in US at least 1 year.

Ah. It is probably tied to Afghanistan, then.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Looks like the leader of these two is the one that died. The follower in the silly white hat may not have the balls to take his own life, and maybe he will talk if captured. He might not know as much as the dead one though.

On the other hand many of those caught in the past have kept schtum, so reasonable answers may not be forthcoming either way.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Time and CNN will have no hesitation whatsoever publishing it.

Really highly doubt it, doesn't fit the overall narrative. They'll run with a much more benign photo of him and this one will be flushed down the media memory hole and they will exercise extreme caution on any reporting on what his politics are. Now if he was sporting a Tea Party related T-shirt I'd think were on pretty safe ground that it would be plastered over all the place by now because that would be consider "newsworthy" and this would already be tied in to April being Hitlers birthday month..

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

IF it is the missing Brown student "Sunil Tripathi", then I don't think he came up with this idea himself. He must have been identified as a lost soul, and seriously brainwashed (willingly). It also appears that he underwent some kind of military training. One month is kind of short but I suppose it is possible. So maybe he left the country for training and came back. IF.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

I'd refrained from speculation earlier as evidence was completely lacking, but a friend of mine pointed this out to me as possibly one of the two. Again, a large caveat is required. http://iowntheworld.com/blog/?p=181635

Pretty amazing resemblance, but the nose looks different to me. The picture of the bomber in the crowd has a nose where the bottom is parallel to the ground. The picture of the MIT student seems to show a nose that starts to tilt down a bit. They should also say which picture is current (curly or straight hair).

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I'm going to say flat out say given the Media's liberal bias that they will not post the picture of him in your link since he's sporting a Che T-shirt. They're going to pretend that photo doesn't even exist since that ain't gonna fit the right wing extremist narrative they so fallen in love with.

If the photo turns out to be in fact one of the bombers, Time and CNN will have no hesitation whatsoever publishing it. Just remember that when either of them does, another prop in your "liberal bias" obsessive-compulsive reflex will have been knocked away.

It is not always easy to arrest someone in a situation like this. From what I have read, the suspects were throwing explosives at police as well as shooting at them. There is no hard way or easy way. I commend the Boston police and so should you.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

It's too easy to shoot and kill, then we will never know the truth and conspiracy theories will start and we will get nowhere. These professionals should do it the hard way which is the only right way. Get them alive and get to the bottom of what's causing seemingly good Americans to go bad.

Zichi I won;t shed any tears if he turns up dead as well. Though I agree people deserve some answers. I just hope nobody else is hurt or killed because of these lunatics.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I'm going to say flat out say given the Media's liberal bias that they will not post the picture of him in your link since he's sporting a Che T-shirt.

Hey, there would be no "douche" without Che. Thanks for jumping on the political angle with absolutely no background information whatsoever.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

This story just gets more unreal by the minute. Kids at MIT (a premier University (a top 5 in my opinion, but I have my favorites) having gun battles with cops. Unreal !! -especially for Boston that is maybe the premier University city in the US. ==> It really doesn't get any better.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Cracaphat - this isnt the movies.police don't have the luxury of shooting guns and bombs out of the bad guys hands. The two were shooting and throwing explosives out of their vehicle

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Laguna,

Reports heard over the police scanners are confirming that suspects names as Mike Mulugeta as the one the suspect that has died and Sunil Tripathi the same one pictured in your link from iowntheworld.

I'm going to say flat out say given the Media's liberal bias that they will not post the picture of him in your link since he's sporting a Che T-shirt. They're going to pretend that photo doesn't even exist since that ain't gonna fit the right wing extremist narrative they so fallen in love with.

Glad at least the first one was caught alive (assuming he is the perpetrator). I want to hear what he has to say.

I'd refrained from speculation earlier as evidence was completely lacking, but a friend of mine pointed this out to me as possibly one of the two. Again, a large caveat is required. http://iowntheworld.com/blog/?p=181635

The guy in custody is apparently dead.

The police are now saying they are the two bombing suspects.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

That was fast! Any faster and they would fit everything in one csi episode. One down and One to go. Great Job Feds and Boston Police. Very very impressive!!!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Not yet... there were two of them at this gunfight. The other suspect is still on the loose.... armed and dangerous.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Thanks Laguna. Twitter. All hell seems to have broken out in Boston, but it looks like end-game at last.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I might have been right for once. I posted on Wednesday that I thought the bombers might be students. Of course, these suspects may not be students; we don't know yet. They might be terrorists or students who are both terrorists.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Does this mean that the bombers were MIT students? that would be a turn up for the books and very unexpected.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Boston Globe writes, "One Marathon bombing suspect has been caught, and another is on the loose in Watertown after a firefight with police, officials said."

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Hopefully the suspect in custody is one of the suspects in the Boston marathon bombing.
