Pakistan has become a mess. I wonder how long before the Taliban completely take over. Then there will be a war with India and Sri Lanka, which will make China nervous. Meanwhile, Afghanistan will become partitioned into a tiny Green Zone in Kabul, occupied by Karzai and the Western forces, and the rest of the country a loose-knit collection of tribal warlords with allegiance to the Taliban.

I wonder what the world will be like in 50 years time.

Can the independent media please check the make of the ammunition and the arms? I am sure they are all made in USA and its allies. How sad that their own money and arms will now target them. High time USA, Japan and party stopped sending more arms to Pakistan. Also choke the supply of money. Pakistan Army is getting rich with your money and pretending that they are fighting the terrorists. Nothing is further from the truth. Aid money is the money that is being used convenietly by the terrorists.

Stop aiding them.

“It is a complete panic here. We do not have any idea how many the attackers are, and how many of them are dead, or hiding in nearby buildings,” officer Syed Ahmad Mobin told The Associated Press.

if the police is allready panicking then i do not hold much hope for the students

There will be no 50 years, not at least for the current system.

Pakistan has endured scores of suicide bombings and other attacks in recent years, and it faces tremendous U.S. pressure to eradicate al-Qaida and Taliban insurgents on its soil.

What kind of pressure U.S. is exerting on Pak? Is it same pressure that Japan is putting on NKorea?

Regarding Attack on Lahore 30/03/2009: To all Pakistanis, please wake up and call this atrocity what it is. Please stop trying to find a foreign hand; please understand that this is our war. We are under attack from our own. These people, who in Waziristan and SWAT leave hanging from the trees the bodies of their victims, are our own callous murderers. The frequent nature of these attacks does not make them any less reprehensible. These people who on one day blow a mosque full of worshippers in Pakhtunkhwa and the next day attack the very heart of Pakistan are our own people. Please admit our faults, please look at the events with open eyes, please call spade a spade and stop tying to hide behind the bulls**t of “Muslims can’t do this kind of thing”. Well, they can and they are. It is no longer possible to stay silent and see that amongst our own, the people we know, there are those who come up with conspiracy theories for everything, look for American hand in everything, and look for excuses for our own failures. I ask people like Imran Khan (I like him and want him as our next leader), to finally give up the charade of this business of being “at war with our own people”. No sir, we are not at war with our own people as these people want to make Pakistan a Stone Age country, they want our sisters, daughters and mothers to get imprisoned in their homes. This is not Islam, Islam teach us humility, love and compassion for fellow human beings, Islam tell us to respect, women, elder and fruit trees even when at war. Let’s call these people what they are, they are our fascists who want a totalitarian version of their own perverted view of Islam to subjugate the free people of Pakistan. Please speak up, please…

While Obama is sending ever more soldiers on a wild goose chase to Afghanistan, in Pakistan the jihadis are rapidly getting their next Taliban state... and this time one with nukes.

But don´t wait for criticism for the still Obama-struck media...

LOL! Which islam would that be? Not the one lined out in the Koran and the Sunna, and certainly not the one taught in the madarassas in Pakistan. If you want to invent a new version, good for you, but say so.

(NB: You might be right about the fruit trees. But women??)

Calm down for goodness saken willi. You can't possibly know what types of islam are being taught in every part of Pakistan, like you don't really know what's happing in Europe.

Sure there's a problem with a large number of Islamic fundies in Pakistan, but alienating those that actually are moderates by constant shrieking about their religion 'aint the path to success IMO.

Hear, hear! A blast or two from that old imperial trumpet and Englerland will just sort of uncreate Pakistan, wot.

Am I supposed to laugh at this stupid statement? Be offended? Intrigued?

It's not like it's the first time you have posted the exact same comment little man.

You are exactly demonstrating the trap that Western intelligentsia and politicians have set for themselves in dealing with fundamentalist islam. "We must not warn of radical islam for fear of creating more radical islam"... or so the logic goes. Doesn´t it occur to you that by definition there is a problem when believers become violent radicals when being criticized? For Pete´s sake we freely lambast the pope almost daily, and nobody is afraid of creating radical Catholics who will blow up our trains and airplanes!

All I'l saying is that when you say as fact that radical Islam is a menance and being taught hate in the schools all over Pakistan, I'm just saying you're potentialy making the problem worse.

And besides, it looks like crack Pakistani troops have routed the idiots behind the latest massacre....

As for Sikander Hayat’s well meaning words, I’m not buying in. There may once have been a time I would have defended a muslims right to believe in his religion even though I could never accept such a nonsense. There was a time I would have believed in the idea of such a thing as a moderate muslim, now I have given up on the whole idea of anything that falls under the name muslim. For me muslims now fall into two groups, fanatics & cowards. If the so called moderate muslims want the rest of the world to take them seriously then they have to take some positive action to rid the whole world of the fanatics, not at best make excuses for them, which is what they normally do. They are so frightened of the fanatics within the midst that they will do nothing. Today they fought because they were attacked in their own country, but still they cannot even trust their own army not to be aiding the fanatics. What kind of a country is it that fears its own army, fears a large section of it’s own populous & actually does deals with the people that kill them? Many will that I shouldn’t blame the religion, well I do, because if that idiots religion was removed there wouldn’t be these lunatic fanatics that see killing as a perfectly normal way to practice their religion of peace.

No, people like you make the problem worse by blanking out the "islamic" part of the "islamic jihad" menace that the world is facing. The jihadis are simply following the islamic doctrine to the letter. In their mind, they are doing gods work.

WilliB, I agree with you! By pretending that they are only teaching religion they have got away with creating so much hate. By fooling ourselves that they are harmless guys learning religion, we have let them grow to the present menace. Time everyone shouted and stamped them out. There is no other way to get rid of them. They are being schooled to be mad. Very very sick thing the Govt of Pakistan took upon itself to do. Its people will pay the cost.

maleshvitekar:

Alas, the government of Pakistan is part of the problem, not part of the solution. Pakistan has written the Shariah into its constitution, so it has no real basis to address the jihadists. Moderate Pakistani governments can only treat the symptoms of the problem, not the cause.
