Well done, Hamas.

Well done, Hamas.

They allegedly came from Hamas-run Gaza, but there is no indication they are actually members of Hamas.

Anyway, I have trouble believing this story is as it is reported. I am sure the people of Gaza want to keep their border with Egypt open. It would be incredibly stupid for them to do such a thing. I suspect something else happened.

Even if we are not sure who these gunmen are, rest assured, ISRAEL will find out soon enough, and KABOOM, blow the hell out of these guys before they get any closer to Israel. IMHO. Got to wonder about the Egyptian border patrol though.

It is not the 'people of Gaza' doing this. It is the militants. They have been using the border or attempting to use the border to attack Israel and to bring in weapons to attack Israel for years now. That is one of the reasons thing went sour after Israel pulled out of Gaza.

Uhm, buda they already have? Reading the article may sound like a novel idea, but it's right there in the first paragraph.

Morsi, who took the oath of office on June 30 to become the country’s first freely elected leader and its first head of state since Mubarak’s overthrow, said those who committed the “cowardly” attack and those who worked with them would pay dearly. "Those responsible for this crime will be hunted down and arrested,” he said.

I am honestly very encouraged by Morsi's words. After the election, I was concerned, but also hopeful, about what Morsi would do. Reading what he has to say here, I have to say I am less concerned and more hopeful. It would be great if this is the beginning of a new history for Egypt and in turn for the Middle East. Rejecting militants and the violence they bring is the right course of action and the best thing that can happen to the region.

Israeli assassins are called commandos, Arab commandos are called terrorists. Is that fair?

" Arab commandos are called terrorists. Is that fair?"

Judging by the amount of dead Israeli's in the jihadists operation (0) and the amount of dead Egyptians (16) then I think it's fair to call them terrorists, and rather inept ones at that.

To each his own.

These are the same militants that decided to use a free medical treatment program offered by Israelis as an opportunity to plant a suicide bomb and kill the doctors volunteering to help Palestinians. The only thing that saved everyone's lives was that the woman confessed at the border crossing because she couldn't go through with it. The militants tried to convince her by saying she was disfigured and no man would want her anyway. The result? The Israelis closed down the program.

These are also the same militants who tried to take out the only power plant servicing Palestine on the Israeli side. They are also the same militants who attack aid trucks coming from Israel. They are the same militants who throw Palestinians off the tops of buildings if they don't pledge support to Hamas, and they are the same militants who refuse aid to anyone who won't sign a paper pledging such support. They are the same militants who strap suicide bombs to mentally deficient teenage boys.

You need to make a distinction between the people and the militants. The militants don't care about border crossings, blockades, peace plans, etc. They only care about trying to kill until no one is left. When you look at it that way it makes perfect sense for someone with that mindset to kill some Egyptians for the chance to take out a few Israelis. Anything is OK as long as Israelis are killed in the end.
